Snazzy Daisy April 18 Author Share April 18 I normally stay away from TV teens because of their angst, their unruly behaviors, the underage drinking and partying etc. Am only here because of Archie Panjabi and Lily Gladstone. The flashbacks take us further into Reena’s deteriorating relationship with her family, her loneliness, her insecurities and her desperation to fit in. Other than her conservative parents, Reena still has Uncle Raj who understands her and occasionally showers her with gifts. The way Manjit and Raj being treated by Saanich police when they try to lodge a report on Reena’s disappearance is hard to watch. They don’t take their concerns very seriously as Reena is deemed as a Bic girl (disposable). Who are Cam and Rebecca to each other? What happened between them in the past? Any connection to Gabe and what happened to him? 1 Link to comment
Valny April 18 Share April 18 (edited) These teens are horrible(and that's without knowing exactly what they did to Reena), especially the blonde, she really plays that role so evilly. I need to see an interview with her on Youtube to see that she's an actually nice person to cleanse my mind. Normally I don't mind series that are one episode at time, but this one I really wish Hulu did put out all the eps at once. I am riveted already and I wanted to see more after that first two eps. I do love true life stories. Edited April 18 by Valny 2 Link to comment

At least on the male cop's part, he seems dismissive of them because they and Reena are people of color (Indian). That's why Uncle Raj looked at Cam and said, "Him I get it, but you too?" implying that because she's also a person of color (Native American) she should be more empathetic. Lily Gladstone's character is very interesting. The guy who plays her father, has he ever done any role other than incompetent local cop? Straycat80 April 20 Share April 20 I usually don’t like stories about annoying teenagers but I watched for Lily Gladstone. But I’m in on this one, it’s really holding my interest. Very suspenseful . I just wish I could binge it. 1 Link to comment

On IG, she's posting pics of prom and then a few days later of her in LA for the premiere. She also posted a really nice tribute to Reena. 2 Link to comment

She's perfectly cast, maybe a bit too perfect actually. But the camera loves her and she certainly knows how to hold the viewers' attention. 1 Link to comment
QQQQ May 4 Share May 4 (edited) I need to rewatch this episode and pay closer attention. I thought Rebecca's storyline was in present day and she was writing her book about the events which took place in 1997. I even thought she was imagining the conversation at the girls' home. But when she went to the jail and bailed out Josephine, I was like... huh?! Oh... Edited May 4 by QQQQ 3 Link to comment

According to Vulture's episode recap, the male cop and Cam are brother and sister--their father is the police chief. I think they both called him Dad in the boxing bag scene where we first met them. But I don't think their father is Native American, so I'm not sure Cam and her brother are supposed to be (unless they are half NA from their mother). In any case, I agree that the male cop's dismissiveness was due at least in part to Reena and her family being Indian but also to the all-too-common attitude of male cops to female victims. I thought that Raj's comment referred to Cam being female and therefore should be more empathetic to crimes involving girls and women. I was really confused about the timeline, but I guess we are supposed to know that Rebecca was home at the same time as Reena's assault because they both saw the red satellite debris in the sky.
