I love Patrick Brammall. I was introduced to him as Andy Bouchard on Evil which is one of my favorite shows. I saw an interview with him and Harriet and he said they have ideas for several more seasons. Get cracking on that!! We'll figure out how to write Andy out of Evil for another season. His IG is full of pics of himself, Harriet and their dog (and their daughter). One pic of him kissing their dog s labeled "no ordinary love" . 🥰 So writing a show about a dog that brings a couple together was inevitable. I like that Gordon and Ashley have such great chemistry, (helps they're married IRL), the age difference isn't off putting, but enough to mine great comedy as far as generations having different pop culture references. Spoiler I LOL'ed in Episode 3 when Gordon is taking a bath and realized what he did. Spoiler And every husband of the women who just gave birth telling Ashley what to do. And Meg's grandmother's dying last words . Spoiler After their night of drinking, I was yelling at the tv "just tell her what's going on!!!" Link to comment
missyb November 18, 2023 Share November 18, 2023 Great new show. Their chemistry is terrific. I love their banter. Feels so natural. I thought all episodes were available and have been looking desperately for 5-8. At least I now know they are coming. Link to comment

SeanBug December 1, 2023 Share December 1, 2023 I had in the back of my mind since the 3rd or 4th episode, "when are the real owners going to start looking for Colin". Gordon was giving me a nervous stomach with his insane outfits at Ashley's birthday party. And her friends are a bunch of assholes. In the season finale, they nailed how to get out of giving Colin back to the shitty dad, and then the WTF dog rescue/shelter. The ending was perfect. Gordon and Ashley reuniting, and declaring "let's go get our dog back". "We're going to make that little girl cry"...."good". I imagine them climbing the back yard fence and taking him. Such a sweet hilarious show. 4 Link to comment

AheadofStraight January 3 Share January 3 Loved this show and I'm thrilled there will be another season. Interestingly, I had a survey email from Paramount+ about it and the survey was ridiculously long - like 20 minutes of very details questions on each character and the show. My 2 favorite new comedy discoveries have been Australian shows - this one and Fisk on Netflix. Hilarious! 1 Link to comment
purist January 29 Share January 29 This was my favourite show of 2023 - I love it so much! At first I wasn't sure about it, but as the episodes went on I fell in love with the characters (including Colin) and was sad when I finished the series. It's so dark and stupid and heartfelt, and Brammall and Dyer are superb. I was really disappointed when Tara Ariano (formerly of TWoP and Primetimer) on the Extra Hot Great podcast said she'd decided not to watch any more after the dog was injured in the first episode because she hates shows where dogs are hurt. I tweeted her to say the dog becomes the hero and she would be missing the best comedy of the year, but she wasn't swayed. 😞 1 Link to comment
purist February 6 Share February 6 Further to my previous post, episode 3 was inducted into the Extra Hot Great canon in last week's main podcast, with all the hosts voting for it. Yay! 1 Link to comment

purist August 8 Share August 8 Being in Australia, I've already seen this and can tell you it's possibly even better than the first season. Episode 3, 'Heavy', and Episode 4, 'Ethical Porn', were so funny they made me howl. Enjoy! 1 Link to comment
aghst August 25 Share August 25 Watched season 1 in one sitting. Really started out strong. I realize they have to make a certain number of episodes for financial reasons but one or two wasn’t as good, especially the big birthday party. Some of those characters didn’t seem like the types of friends Ashley would have. Still it ended with a good bridge to a new season, to get Colin back, for them to get back together. Link to comment

OMG, WAWAM! "Ethical Porn" is also genius coinage. Spoiler Behind all the laughs though, some heavy things going on, like Gordon's relations with his father and his family. Gordon having difficulty coping after his loss, trying to make Colin an animal star on TV and movies. Chiara leaving her family for a woman only to see her marry someone else. Then the cliffhanger in the finale, guess another milestone in Gordon and Ashley's relationship. 1 Link to comment
Danny Franks October 14 Share October 14 I like this show but, as someone who gets terrible second hand embarrassment, I have to leave the room for some scenes to avoid squirming in discomfort. I don't think the show needs to lean nearly as hard on "Gordon does or says something weird and offends people" as it does. Especially when it's combined with him not understanding Ashley's friends because they're so young. That runner of Gordon being seen as unreasonable because he was looking for Ashley after making dinner plans then her not answering the phone was weird. He wasn't being possessive or controlling, he was being worried, and James saying "party trumps dinner," didn't make sense. Because no one blows off their significant other without even telling them, to go to a party. Megan's new girlfriend was the absolute, overbearingly boring and self-important, worst. And I thought the show was going to focus on her "I feel Indian" nonsense as something that would make Megan realise it, but they went in the other direction and forced Gordon to be an ass, again. While still uncomfortable, I enjoyed the episode with Gordon's family more - bigoted dad and doormat mother, and generally rundown and bitter sister-in-law. And I appreciated the theme of falling into familiar behaviour patterns with your family, that your significant other may not recognise or enjoy. I hope Harriet Dyer becomes a bigger star off the back of this series, because she's so charismatic and engaging, and can do everything from dramatic scenes to full on slapstick comedy.
