After this week’s Carol tease, I am finally on board with TWD: Daryl Dixon. Any scoop on the season finale? –Deb
Our resident Dead-head Charlie Mason has seen the finale (which premieres Sunday at 9/8c on AMC) and promises that it does not disappoint. Beyond that, he says “Coming Home” reveals the depth of the feelings that Daryl has developed for Sister Isabelle and Laurent, includes one of the most bat-s—t-crazy fight scenes in the franchise’s history and delivers a Season 2 setup that’s all but guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

It's official. The already awkwardly named The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is going to become The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol  for season 2.

‘Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Season 2 to Bring Back Melissa McBride as Carol

The character is reportedly set to appear in the first season ender before becoming a major part of the season 2 story. No word yet if that means she will also mysteriously be washing up ashore somewhere or how that's even going to happen.

It clearly needs to be longer and contain more punctuation. Maybe The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol. With Acid Zombies! In France; For Some Reason?

I think by the time you’re done, the title will be longer than the series.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol (Sept. 29, AMC)

There has been a lot of attention placed on the impending reunion between Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) on season 2 of The Walking Dead spinoff. And rightfully so. But hey, what about everyone else? One of the characters to definitely keep an eye on is party girl-turned-nun Isabelle (Clémence Poséy), who may start wondering if her new faith in the Nest has been a bit misplaced. “There’s a lot of doubt,” teases Posey. “She starts questioning what she has believed for years, starts seeing the flaws, the cracks in the dogma that has kept her going for so long. It’s always interesting taking a character through that kind of journey.” —D.R.

Will we find out who Carol said was back on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon? — Len
Did she actually say someone was back when she got Daryl on the radio in Season 1…? Whether she did — the signal was staticky — Melissa McBride promises that in Season 2 “we’ll understand exactly what she said that blipped out in that call and come to understand what she was trying to convey. It’s actually a large part of the story and is part of the reason for Carol seeking Daryl out.”

Norman Reedus reacts to surprise Daryl Dixon kissing scene

Considering the rarity of such an occasion, it seems like a momentous moment for both the character and franchise, but Reedus, who is always weary of attention paid to his character’s love life, implores the fanbase to not get carried away with delusions of romantic grandeur. Rather than dramatically announcing a new Walking Dead couple like Rick and Michonne or Glenn and Maggie, Reedus says this make-out session should be taken more like his character exploring the possibilities of what could be.

“I think it was an experiment,” the star tells Entertainment Weekly. “It was, ‘What is this?’ It wasn't a ‘This is it!’ It's a ‘What is this? And what would that look like and how does that feel?’ I don't think there was an intention to get to second base. I think it was more of scarily parting these curtains to look at the idea of it.”

In Reedus’ eyes, Daryl is not committing himself to anything — or anyone — beyond trying something new. “I'll tell you my interpretation of it, is that he's never got to do this before and he doesn't know what it means,” Reedus says. “He's been running and fighting his whole life, and is asking himself: Have I been doing this wrong? Should I have just found someone and settled down in a farm and just had those moments of life before I die? Or is the fighting and fighting the way I'm supposed to go? He's questioning the whole big picture.”

In the end, while romance (or romantic entanglements) may have played a big part in the stories surrounding other Walking Dead characters, don’t look for it to overwhelm Daryl’s future. “We did that with Rick, and we did that with Shane, and we did that even with Glenn,” Reedus notes. “I don't think Darryl's the same character as those characters.”

‘The Walking Dead’ Writer Breaks Down Carol’s Violent ‘Daryl Dixon’ Detour

“This one started with me,” Zabel tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We didn’t want to just have Carol pop into France and make things too easy. And we knew that the plane really couldn’t go direct. It was gonna have to make a stop somewhere. So we started talking about Greenland and, who would be in Greenland? If we found somebody still in Greenland, would they be? What would the walkers be like? We talked a lot about the walkers, the marshy walkers, and then we talked about who would be there, and how would that make an interesting story?”
*  *  *
“We had this idea that two scientists could have survived, alone in their station,” says Zabel. “After the apocalypse, they had managed to continue to live there. We managed to spin a good story out of that. I really love that one. In a different world, we would have spent even more time in Greenland, but we only had six episodes.”
*  *  *
According to Zabel, the episode order for Daryl Dixon came with plusses and minuses. It allowed for a tight, propulsive narrative, but it also meant leaving a few different story ideas on the floor.

“It really was the toughest thing,” he says. “You end up having to put a lot to the side when you really wanted to explore. We’re not lacking for story here. We’re just lacking real estate.”

Any scoop you can give us on ‘The Book of Carol’? –Nikki
Put it to ya this way, Nikki: Sunday’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is the one you’ve been waiting for. Despite that, “La Paradis Pour Toi” is likely to leave you wanting to drop the needle on some Edith Piaf and cry — and not happy tears, either.

AMC revealed the first 14 minutes of Sunday’s episode of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” Friday during New York Comic Con, which featured the on-screen reunion between Norman Reedus‘ Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride‘s Carol Peletier.
*  *  *
The sneak peek of the opening of Episode 4, which was not included in the NYCC livestream and was exclusively for fans in attendance at the panel at the Javits Center, showed the moment when Carol finds Daryl in prison in France.

Reedus broke down his reaction to the emotional plot point for Daryl, saying “the one person in the world that he needs is right there.”

McBride added: “Norman and I don’t do a whole lot of rehearsing or talking about scenes that we’re going to do. We just show up as the character, knowing where we are in the story and letting things happen as we shoot. And that’s what I love about working with Norman; you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always so fun and wonderful and surprising.”

Do you have any scoop on TWD: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol season finale this upcoming Sunday? — Nikki
Put it to ya this way: The s–t really hits the fan in the last Season 2 episode of the AMC drama. Not only is “Au Revoir les Enfants” Jacinta and Sabine’s final chance to martyr Laurent before the series moves to Spain in Season 3, but it sparks a new romance and affords one character a golden opportunity to make the ultimate sacrifice. As you’d hope, it also includes a couple of classic “Caryl” moments.
