It felt like Lily was trying out the divorce conversation to see if that is really how she feels.

I thought it was funny when the guy just slid over into the empty chair.

Hank’s mother is despicable and his father too although now he’s mainly pathetic.  When is Hank going to sever his connection to them?

In the novel, the mom is not that bad. But the father is horrible. He doesn't have dementia and his only regret in life is that he was too hard on Dickens!!!!!! What a POS!

I thought the Dickens bit was pretty ironic, but it's also hard for me to gauge how far he's aware of what's going on.  Last episode he was talking *about* Hank. This episode, I don't think he realizes that's his granddaughter's husband who was caught cheating.

Obvious irony aside, I thought she was just giving that cheating guy a hard time.  It was even more ironic that the cheated upon husband consoled him about the break, but, sure there was some projection there, but it doesn't seem so far that she really wants to leave Hank.  Just commute to work in NYC and spend most of her time alone.

Yeah at first I thought Lily was totally messing with the guy.  Which was very appropriate!   But especially when she got to the part about making decisions and realizing those don’t include him, it got very truthful I thought.

my feeling is that Lily has really tried to be a good spouse, and I would hope their marriage could survive, but good lord Hank needs to get himself together to make that happen.

Even if he didn't have dementia, I don't think he would care. His only real interest is himself.

So when Hank parked uphill on the snowy street, did anyone else yell at him to turn his wheels to the curb?  I've lived where there is neither snow nor hills for over 40 years but it's still ingrained in me!
