S02.E05: Simple Twist of Fate

Okay, so while I haven't binged this show like I did for season one, this episode got to me - namely, Tully learning that her father had died a mere six weeks prior and she was so close, yet so far, and then the reveal that she had, in fact, met him when he took care of her burn and gave her the aloe plant several years prior. That made me tear up a little bit. 

It was also nice for Cloud and Tully to learn that he hadn't abandoned them but had been led to believe Cloud was aborting Tully and wanted him to move on with his life. 

While I like Beau Garrett (Cloud's portrayer), it still makes me SMH a bit that they have her playing Katherine Heigl/Tully's mom when Beau is 5 years younger.

It took me out of the scenes with the father as a kid that they used BG as the younger Dorothy. She looks great, but she doesn't look like a teenager.

I like the sound guy. I hope they get together. 

I'm glad they didn't go for the politician being Tully's dad. He's the uncle who paid her mother off, to stay away. 

I wrote the above, before I saw the end. I hate that cliche, of the ex-husband deciding he wants his wife back, after all, and then he sees her happy with another man. I mean, I hope she IS happy. I hope they get together, and are happy, since we know whose funeral she's attending in the previous season.

The reporter guy Tully keeps bantering and sleeping with is so boring and unlikeable. I am tired of their bickering but then always falling into bed together dynamic.

And also, yes. This whole "guy realizes he wants the girl but then he sees her with another guy" trope is soooooo played out and horribly clichéed. Why is this still a thing in 2022? Very cheap.

Okay I don’t remember the funeral thing from season 1 at all. Whose funeral did Kate attend in season one?

I thought it was Johnny's. At the end of the last episode. I didn't re-watch, because I remembered a lot of it, and I just wanted to start watching season two.

I should have re-watched. It was her father’s funeral.  Johnny was injured in the war, too.  I just googled.
