I can’t quite decide whether to be excited or nervous about this. Because I love the source material both the 1988 movie and the epistolary novel. A series that went in depth and had time to really explore the characters would be amazing. I like the idea of exploring the original romance of the Marquis de Merteuil and Valmont. The Marquis’s self-invention could be shown too. How cool would that be? 
However, the possibility of ruination exists too. Ah well, I’ve ignored other bad adaptations, I’m just hoping this won’t be one of them.

Based on the  classic 1782 novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The TV Series imagines what happened to the two former lovers, the future Marquise Camille de Merteuil and Pascal, the Vicomte de Valmont, prior to the start of their adventures in the novel. Both forego their love for each other in order to right the wrongs of their past, they rise from the slums of Paris to scale the heights of the French aristocracy, using seduction, manipulation, and secrets on the nobility and each other in pre-revolutionary Paris. Their on-again-off-again love story is the heart of the series. It’s not love... it’s war.

Nicholas Denton as Pascal, the Vicomte de Valmont. Pascal is driven to regain his title and status, stolen from him by his stepmother, Ondine de Valmont, after his father’s death. Without status or money, Pascal must use seduction and blackmail to get what he wants, even if it risks losing forever the one he loves most – Camille, his former lover.

Colette Dalal Tchantcho is Ondine de Valmont, Pascal the Vicomte de Valmont’s caustic, social-climbing stepmother.

Alice Englert as Camille, the future Marquise Camille de Merteuil. A beautiful young woman from nowhere with a mysterious past who seeks revenge on the wealthy aristocrats who led her to ruin. Betrayed by her lover, Pascal, the Vicomte de Valmont, she turns heartbreak into empowerment as she strategizes to gain status, power and freedom. Camille's chance arises when she is taken in by the current Marquise Genevieve de Merteuil.

Leslie Manville as the current Marquise Genevieve de Merteuil, who takes Camille under her wing and becomes Camille’s mentor in the world of the Parisian nobility.

Michael McElhatton plays Marquis Jean de Merteuil, Genevieve de Merteuil’s husband and a powerful Marquis who threatens Camille’s rise in society.

Hakeem Kae-Kazim is Majordome, who runs the Merteuil house.

Kosar Ali as Victoire, Camille’s sparky, cynical, brave best friend and partner in crime.

Carice van Houten as Jacqueline de Montrachet, a pious noblewoman with a mysterious connection to our heroine Camille.

Tom Wlaschiha plays Henri de Montrachet.

Hilton Pelser as Gabriel Carrè, a police officer obsessed with Camille.

Nathanael Saleh is Azolan, the Pascal’s gentle, thoughtful young companion

Paloma Faith as Florence de Regnier, a playful, fiery noblewoman, a stalwart of the French court

Lucy Cohu plays Christine de Sevigny, a shrewd, ambitious Duchess and nemesis to Camille.

Fisayo Akinade is Chevalier de Saint-Jacques, the preferred composer to Queen Marie Antoinette, and Pascal's best friend.

Maria Friedman plays Berthe, an effervescent dressmaker for the great and good of Paris.

Clare Higgins is Madame Jericho, the eccentric proprietor of a brothel in the slums of Paris.

Mia Threapleton plays Rose, an impressionable young prostitute with dreams of a better life.

Dangerous Liaisons will air on Sunday, November 6 on STARZ at 9pm before moving to its regular time the next week,  Sundays at 8pm.

‘Dangerous Liaisons’ Canceled At Starz In Reversal Of Season 2 Renewal

Even though Dangerous Liaisons had been renewed for a Season 2 before they showed the first episode of Season 1, Starz has reversed their decision and cancelled the Second Season. The remaining episodes of Season 1 will air as scheduled.

Going by the amount of posts here (minimal), I'm not surprised that it isn't getting a second season.

This isn't surprising.  I'm still watching but would not have bothered with a second season.  The characters are too repulsive.

I’m enjoying it. Even a bad period drama is better than none. Although I like a lot of the show.

I'm not finding the stories to be very cohesive.  Tony Soprano or Saul Goodman were repulsive characters, but you understood their motivations, and their actions had predictable consequences in their world.  This show seems to solve every problem with blackmail.

‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ ‘Becoming Elizabeth’ & ‘Step Up’ Pulled From Starz As Streaming Removals Become More Widespread

If you didn't watch/record the Series or the last episode, you may be hard pressed to do so.

Lionsgate attempting to split from Starz, has caused both companies to try to determine which "Titles" belong to which company, causing all kinds of problems like the cancelling of the second season and the removal of the first season of Dangerous Liaisons from the Starz. It is also causing the delay of new programming on Starz, like Heels Season 2.
