I loved seeing so many of the originals. I thought it was odd that Zoe wasn't on. I was so happy to see Vivek back on my screen. His character improved so much over the years, IMO. I think, though, that having so many OG characters on last night made the new generation's lack of charisma even more evident.

I agree, very surprising. It said "season finale" not "mid-season finale" so I wonder if this is it for this show. 

ETA: in a Google search, some sources say it was a mid-season finale, so we'll see.

Grown ish seems to be more interesting than Black ish. The stakes here are higher most of the time, Black ish seemed to always play it safe. Black ish also got very stale in it's later seasons.

Indeed, but I also thought that the show runners must know how sucky this show as gotten this season and they had to bring in some of the OG cast to liven things up.
