I watch these episodes but I have no clue what’s happening.

Whose the random woman that hit Tommy in the head with a gun?

She is Liliana from Season One Power. She was Ghost's drug courier and only on for the first two episodes. She got sliced on the face in an elevator from Kanan's hired hitters, taken to the hospital, Tommy discussed killing her for possibly talking to the cops about the attack/her job with Ghost but Ghosts decided for Julio to give her money and stop working for him because she was loyal/her scar is recognizable. We haven't seen her since until now.

Now she hears "white boy", "blue car" and immediately believes Tommy is in town to kill her after all these years??!! LOL.  I give her credit for being proactive trying to kill Tommy. But poor girl is outmatched. I hope the actress stays. I liked her on Blindspot.

I'm impressed how drugs and money easily finds Tommy.

Has anyone asked Tommy his name? I don't think he has told anyone. JP knows his name but I don't think he has said "Tommy" yet.

I wonder what alias Tommy has on his driver's license and registration. With all the high tech now, I wonder why police don't have the ability to run facial recognition on driver's license during stops.

Not sure why JP called Tommy first if he didn't want his money and Tommy sure wasn't going to help sweep up glass. His first call should have been to the police. Also, use the money to buy cameras. Funny when Tommy assumed he was dealing from there.

JP didn't have money for protection for the bar this month, was hit and was previously hit two times this year. He must have hired some clowns that couldn't protect the other times.

Going by the gun and silencer, I guess that was JP's son that shot up his bar (and maybe his mother was behind the wheel. Just kidding).

JP didn't bother ask his father or grandma who was the little boy with his mother on the VHS tape? I am assuming JP knew that was his mother. The writing for this plotline! UGH!

Rojas has all these people on the outside. I'm not sure why it was important for only Jenard and Diamond to move the drugs for him when time is of the essence or heads will roll with the cartel. Diamond put Rojas in a wheelchair and moving the drugs is the way to get even with him??!! Seems odd moving drugs is payback and not just shooting him to make up for whatever he did.

I would have loved to seen how Tommy gotten those two in the trunk.

I don't care about anyone in the Flynn family. Tommy will be running the Irish empire soon.

I literally just rewatched season 1 of Power. I still don't remember her. My memory is shit. 😂

Throw me $10K. I won't be throwing it back.

I didn't connect those dots at all. That makes sense.

Yes! I thought that was so odd. Rojas (I assume that's the guy we saw in prison is Rojas) says he's gonna get him back or get revenge on the outside... and its just him being a collector for a day???

I wouldn't either. Maybe he's hoping Tommy insisted and gave more money if he he kept refusing. Man is too proud to beg. Price to get the bullets out and replacement windows are high these days.

I'm sure they'll get to it but I'm not seeing their relevance to the story at all.

When they dropped trailers for Book 4, I thought Tommy would still be dealing with Jason Micic's people and the Serbians since they were based out of Chicago.

Jenard and Diamond

I'm guessing we're going to see a power struggle between these two (no pun intended). They are building up and piling on the tension between Diamond's and Jenard's way of handling the organization.

This gives me Lorenzo and Monet vibes in the way that now Diamond is out of prison, Jenard is going to want to maintain his dominance and may see Diamond as a threat to that dominance. Diamond will continue to question some reckless decision his brother makes. I think Diamond would be genuinely satisfied with staying on the sidelines and letting Jenard keep the reins, but from Jenard's point of view, it'll seem like Diamond is butting in. I'm starting to think that buying Diamond the barbershop is a way to keep him occupied and out of the way.

I guess the key will be the jealous ex of Gloria to be Tommy's entrance in to the family and eventual take over. The father is dying of something and the kids will be Tommy's only obstacle.

I think Jason's people was in California. Maybe filming in California is problem and they decided to move his story to Chicago instead. IDK.

Jason's people were based out of Chicago. Jason introduced Tommy to Rodolfo. They were expanding on the west coast, which is why Tommy was going to California. I think when they killed the Jimenez siblings, they took the west coast seaports.

Ok. Thanks. Now I have to do a rewatch to refresh.

I got a feeling Jenard won't have a long stay on this show.

He was pissed when Diamond left with Tommy and was told him to stay in the barbershop. This was after he looked big with the 3 underlings under control when they didn't take orders from Diamond. I can see him doing something stupid to show up Diamond and get himself killed.

I think the "spider" on the drugs Tommy found in Liliana's place is from the Jimenez cartel. But who is left from there to run operations?

Well that didn't take long. New York has already caught up with Tommy.

For some resson I was under the impression Vic Flynn was dirty cop. Then I saw that gigantic tat on his neck. Nope. Just dirty.

And just like that Tommy not only has a half brother, he also has a long-lost nephew. Who's also a gangster with daddy issues.

Lol, Tommy wiping the sweat off his face with the Gucci shirt.

Guess Lilliana is going to be Tommy's connect? Strange bedfellows.

This episode did a little bit more world building- we learned the Irish Dad is sick, Gloria and Vic were a thing, JP has a son he lost contact with (I wonder if we will meet JP’s Dad, since he’s still alive). I love JP’s voice. I am looking forward to seeing them develop more of a bond.

I still am not understanding the dynamic between Diamond and his little brother. Does Diamond want back in the life? What does he want to do? I don’t understand their disagreements (if anyone else does please enlighten me).

Diamond wants back in but he wants it his way 15 years ago. Times has changed since then, Diamond doesn't like his brother made the decision to deal with the Yardies (they make bad drugs), Tommy made Jenard look foolish at the drug deal, Jenard brought in the 2 young killers (who will not take orders from Diamond and are bad for business) and Jenard is his younger brother (probably stings he's making money while he's broke just getting out of prison). Now that Tommy has moved in closer to Diamond, it will probably strain Jenard and Diamond more, as Diamond and Tommy has a similar way of thinking.

I was thinking this since the premiere.

How chilling was the scene with that fucking cop about to take Diamond out but going all Richie Cunningham on Tommy?

Yesterday during the Superbowl I stopped what I was doing to watch Awkwafina in her Disney+ commercial because I wanted to see if she'd do it in blaccent. She didn't and I was prepared to be annoyed if she had. (Meanwhile, Disney+ is still taking some criticism for not using a Black actress in light of Black History Month.)

Yet I'm okay with Joseph Sikora using AAVE in his portrayal of Tommy. It seems natural to the character and not an affectation or a lowkey mockery. So far I've haven't noticed any missteps so he seems to respect the vernacular enough to use it correctly.

Yes, Joseph is doing a great job using AAVE, but is also helps he knows vernacular already because he was born and raised in Chicago, has been around black families since he was a baby and was a graffiti writer. Plus he also said he back to Chicago a month before filming started to talk to people about how Tommy would survive in Chicago vs NYC.

It definitely fits the character as it seems Tommy grew up in a majority black community, went to a majority black school, and so on. I think any non-black person would pick up a few things if you spend your life almost completely surrounded by black people.

The show is entertaining so far:

The Flynn son and heir apparent is in love with the black bar owner but family...

No one bothers to contact their connections in the other cities to find out more about this white guy in the Mustang taking the streets by storm?

Only the barber Diamond picks up that Tommy has experience...

Why does Tommy (an out of towner) have faster reflexes and one step ahead of all of Chicago?

Seeing that actress LIli Simmons who plays the Flynn daughter who is tired of being the family bookkeeper and wants in on the action.

She was in Banshee, another show about a no name mysterious outsider who comes into town and is quicker and one step ahead of everybody else.
