Here I am, almost 2 years late, but I finally found The Gilded Age. I love these current "takes" on any historical drama, the Bridgerton, etc.

So if you notice me asking redundant questions, please forgive my lateness.

I remember studying England's economy (waaay back) and I recall reading an essay in which American socialites were wanting more than what American suitors could offer them. It became very popular as Americans brought in new money, especially in the late 50s, 60s, & 70s, and England's taxation was brutal, especially when keeping an estate.

There were wealthy US daughters seeking royal titles in exchange for allowing their inheritance to be used to help their husbands settle debts.

Lol, yes they made him look quite dorky, compared to his usual appearance.
