Spartan Girl January 7, 2022 Share January 7, 2022 I knew they were going to show the body. At first I thought they shouldn’t, but then I thought about how that lying bitch that started the whole thing is still alive and free, and how Emmet’s memorial keeps getting vandalized…yeah. They needed to show it. 6 Link to comment
kirkola January 7, 2022 Share January 7, 2022 Having been born more than a little over a decade later and in another southern state, I knew the stories and had seen the pictures, but that doesn't exactly do the story justice. The acting here is phenomenal. My heart was breaking at every step right along with his mother. 7 Link to comment

They needed to show it. I knew they would show it, as Mamie Till famously had his body photographed to show the world - it would have been wrong I think to not show it here. But when they didn’t let us see it when Mose was identifying it, I realized they were going to wait until Mamie herself was able to see the body, and have the audience see it with her for the first time. I liked the attention to detail - there is a photograph of Mamie Till at the train station and I felt like that exact image was captured in the scene. 8 Link to comment
AgentRXS January 12, 2022 Author Share January 12, 2022 As a mother to a toddler son, my heart broke at Mamie remembering the day Emmett was born as she was touching his lifeless body. I can’t even imagine. Mamie Till was one hell of a woman to survive this nightmare. 10 Link to comment
CeeBeeGee January 12, 2022 Share January 12, 2022 I'm...kind of shocked this series isn't getting more attention. It's very well done, in my opinion. I know Emmett Till's story like the back of my hand--I'm a history buff and post-WWII American history is one of my great interests, so I've read everything on this child's story. And I think this is a wonderful, nuanced, caring rendition of this horrific tragedy. Why aren't more people watching it? It's been barely reviewed--I don't see many recaps. 10 Link to comment
andromeda331 January 24, 2022 Share January 24, 2022 It was very well done. Poor Mamie I felt so bad for her. For Emmett too. I wanted so much for him to never had gone there in the first place. Poor kid. 2 Link to comment
