I just noticed this was finally on netflix and watched it. I wanted to see it in theaters but I didn't have anyone to go with. So it was streaming for me. Some thoughts afterwards.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed it. But I totally forgot that it was a part 1, so I was surprised when it ended in a cliffhanger...

I have to admit it took me an embarrassing long time to realize that Miles was in the wrong universe at the end. It was until his mother didn't know what Spiderman was, which then go me realizing, wait it might have sent him to where the spider was from, not him.

I loved the animation, I'm sure this one will win awards for it too.  It was cool how they showed the different worlds.

I'm looking forward to the third one but I believe it's release was delayed due to the strikes.

This, accept the last part. I don't buy "our" Miles would have ever been evil. If anything, he led his uncle to be less evil (it's been a while since I've seen the first one). I do think the spider was supposed to bite the one from 42 instead. But that one turned evil, and may have regardless of the spider.

They hinted that this Miles, who they internally codenamed "Wiles" -- maybe the Wario to our Miles' Mario? -- is a vigilante superhero of some sort. He has no super powers. But then again, neither does his uncle in either universe; both rely on gadgets. Without a Spider-hero in Earth-42, the Sinister Six rule NYC, making it a more dystopian place compared to most alternate universes.

Anyways, if that's the case, then Wiles being this antagonistic to Miles is a fake-out on some level.

The animation is, once again, flawless and gorgeous.  Miles Morales is still a fantastic character. 

I liked it a lot but nowhere near as much as the first movie.  They kind of threw too much story and way too many characters into this thing.

Honest question; why would someone with arachnophobia watch a film with a character called Spider-Man? It seems like you would only have yourself to blame...

My very belated quick takes:

Amazing! They managed to make the best Spider-man movie twice in a row! Animation was gorgeous. (Hope the animators get better working conditions, though.)

I'm sure there were literally a hundred cameos/easter eggs I missed, but the ones I did recognize I enjoyed. Speaking of; Miles saying he'd "Pay good money" to see "a vampire good guy" - that's got to be an indirect reference to Blade, right? (And maybe even more indirectly a reference to the next Blade movie that taking forever to actually happen?)

I'm sure they'll answer this in the next movie, but does a captain always have to die? I say 'no', because Miles already had his "Uncle Ben" moment with his uncle Aaron dying -- give the kid a break! I fully support Miles getting to keep two parents even if it breaks the multiverse, or whatever. (I don't think it will, though.)

It's more likely a reference to Morbius, a character who falls under Sony's Spider-man license, and who got his own starring movie under Sony's increasingly desperate-looking "Sony's Spider-Man Universe" project. He's a vampire good guy (sort of? I think?) and as ATSV is a Sony movie without Disney's involvement beyond getting paid for the Spider-Man license, it makes more sense they'd be referencing a Sony project instead of a Disney one.

Didn't realize there were so many options for 'vampire good guys' in Marvel! But the line was vague enough to fit either, I think.
