Spartan Girl September 14, 2023 Share September 14, 2023 So a bro road trip superhero comedy? That might be fun. Shocked that Arthur is a dad now. On 9/11/2023 at 5:11 PM, baldryanr said: They're really trying to push Thomas Curry being killed since you're not really a superhero until at least one of your parents/parental figures dies. Not gonna lie, I’ll be pissed if that happens. Also stop trying to make Black Manta a sympathetic bad guy, it’s not gonna happen. He and his dad were terrorists that killed people, you can’t expect more sympathy than your victims. 3 Link to comment
Trini September 14, 2023 Share September 14, 2023 Looks about as ridiculous and pretty as the first one, so that works for me! Two things though -- Yes, let heroes have parents. And, I'm probably going to miss the estrogen; seems like Mera and Atlanna aren't in it much. 1 Link to comment

Atlanna will likely have a decent amount of stuff to do around edges of the likley main plot of the Arthur/Orm bro-trip, but it's very clear they're minimizing Mera's involvement. The excuse will be she's taking care of her son, so she's out. Link to comment

tv echo September 15, 2023 Author Share September 15, 2023 (edited) James Wan confirms Willem Dafoe won't appear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom By Clark Collis September 14, 2023 https://ew.com/movies/aquaman-2-willem-dafoe-wont-return/ Quote One of the few characters not featured in the sneak peek is Willem Dafoe's Nuidis Vulko, the Atlantean who taught the young Arthur his fighting skills and acted as an all-around mentor to the superhero-in-training. Director James Wan exclusively confirms to EW that Dafoe will not be appearing in his sequel. "Willem is not in this one, no," says Wan, who also directed the 2018 film. "Part of the reason was because his schedule did not work out for us. But what that allowed me to do was expand on Atlanna's role. Atlanna in this one ultimately becomes Arthur's advisor. Because Arthur's not from this world, she helps him better understand the world and the politics of how things work." Edited September 15, 2023 by tv echo Link to comment

baldryanr November 23, 2023 Share November 23, 2023 Say, did you know that Amber Heard is in this movie? Well, you wouldn't come to that conclusion after watching the trailer. And, I'm guessing, you wouldn't know it after the promo tour since I'm sure she was told her services weren't gong to be required. Link to comment
MadyGirl1987 November 27, 2023 Share November 27, 2023 Based on the trailer showing his home being attacked, maybe she is only a glorified cameo. I wouldn't be surprised if Spoiler she and Aquababy get killed in the attack, because doesn't Black Manta kill them both in the comics? Link to comment

Raja December 26, 2023 Share December 26, 2023 I think there were too many direct rips from Star Wars and ending the DCEU with a version of Black Panther and RDJ's adlib to start the MCU was, I don't know how to describe it moment. But like most of the genre movies this year I can't say I was bored. It was just a matter if I liked the characters or not. And for the most part I did. It did have a higher body count of speaking characters than I'm used to in this day and age. 1 Link to comment

tv echo December 27, 2023 Author Share December 27, 2023 (edited) Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was #1 at the box office last weekend, with $27.7M (three-day) and $38-39M (four-day incl. Christmas Day)... https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl3003745793/?ref_=bo_hm_rd WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: AQUAMAN WINS HOLIDAY WEEKEND DOMINATED BY NEW RELEASES by Erik Childress | December 26, 2023 https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/weekend-box-office-results-aquaman-wins-holiday-weekend-dominated-by-new-releases/ Quote Opening on a Christmas Eve weekend when theaters usually close earlier before the big day, Aquaman Deux debuted to just $27.7 million for the three-day (plus previews) with another estimated $10.6 million on Christmas day. A four-day start of $38-39 million is significantly less than the $67.8 million that the first film opened to back in 2018 on this same weekend (sans the Sunday Eve). That film ended up multiplying that opening by a factor of nearly five and went on to be a billion-dollar grosser and the most successful film in the DCEU. That Universe is now over, and the question remains just how much of a whimper its final film will bow out with. Last week, we told you how only two films ever opened to $25 million in December and failed to reach $100 million. The two weeks of vacation for schools could help Aquaman get to that figure… unless it’s treated like The Flash, which managed a $55 million opening last summer, $87 million after 10 days, and then grossed less than $19 million after that. It was a remarkable fall that reflected less a word-of-mouth failure (many expressed appreciation for it and even critics kept it at 63% on the Tomatometer) than a sign of audiences feeling disconnected from event cinema that had been canceled in favor of a new direction. Even Marvel is feeling that crunch. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom could still gross a bit, but it’s fighting an uphill battle with a $205 million production budget and an international audience that is also currently not buying the way they used to on comic book films (beyond Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), with lackluster grosses on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($261.5 million), The Flash ($162.5 million), The Marvels ($120 million), and Blue Beetle ($56.8 million). If Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom ends up on that list, it will join the other dreaded list of the biggest money losers of 2023. Through the weekend, the film has added $80 million internationally. But it’s the overall box office totals that are especially dire, as the film has made just over $138.5 million worldwide. That is about 12% of Aquaman 1’s final total of $1.1 billion in 2018, where it is the DCEU’s highest grossing entry. Edited December 30, 2023 by tv echo Link to comment

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Dolph Lundgren confirmed what everyone already assumed during an interview this week -- that the version currently in theaters is not the original cut that filmmaker James Wan had planned. Speaking with ComicBook.com in support of his new movie Wanted Man, Lundgren admitted that he is disappointed fans did not get to see the version he first saw. The actor, who also co-wrote and directed Wanted Man, presumably has something of an investment in filmmakers getting to make their version of the movie. * * * "I just realized that it was some kind of corporate decision that they try to limit Amber Heard and then I'm playing with her dad and went along with it," Lundgren explained. "I was just disappointed for the moviegoers, because I thought the original script was great and the original cut -- I saw a little bit of it, it was really good, so I didn't see any reason to start reshooting and reshaping the story, which obviously led to disappointment in the moviegoers and not just me." blackwing May 8 Share May 8 I finally saw this movie, I saw it on the plane. I feel like so many people wanted this movie to fail, mostly because of dislike towards Amber Heard. I don't have any strong feelings towards either her or Johnny Depp so I couldn't have cared less about their domestic problems. I really enjoyed this movie. It was a lot funnier than the first one. I loved the relationship between Arthur and Orm, which was central to the plot of the movie. Glad that Patrick Wilson got better hair. If that's actually his body, I'm impressed that he still looks like that after all these years, he hasn't lost anything from his days as the Prom King in "Little Children". They obviously used CGI to make Wilson look scrawny when we first saw him (like pre-super soldier serum Chris Evans in the first CA movie) so I hope they didn't use CGI to enhance him either. I thought Amber Heard was fine in this movie, I like Mera's powers and wish we had seen more of them. I liked the band of misfits that were assembled to defend the seven seas from Black Manta and his crew, including Mera's dad Nereus and that Crab King thing. I do wish we had gotten more of Nicole Kidman and whatever powers she has. Didn't like the Black Manta character this time around, he just didn't seem like a strong character. He was just a patsy for that Necro King. I was thrown by the appearance of Randall Park, I think he's too identified with Jimmy Woo at this point. He has such a distinctive whiny voice that every time his character spoke, I just heard Jimmy Woo pretending to be a scientist. He escaped certain death not once but twice and it could be argued that he caused the whole debacle in the first place by enabling Manta to find that Cursed Trident of Possession. If it were up to me, I would have had his character remorseful for everything he did and choosing to make the Ultimate Sacrifice to save Arthur's baby. As it is, he should have gotten significant prison time. Loved the ending when Atlantis made itself known to the world. Link to comment
