luckyroll3 September 27, 2020 Share September 27, 2020 (edited) The app is smart and definitely appropriate for these times. Maybe I'm too old, but I don't understand how people know which drug comes with which subject. Was that included in the packets given to the "influencers"? I know GTG dude didn't really think he would be able to get that word out in full a second time. Especially when Monet asked him to say it to her face. Read the room guy; that wasn't really an open invitation. Can't fault Dru for getting lost in all that dark chocolate, but dude, you know you got a job to do. I'm kinda mad though, that we got 10 million other sex scenes this episode, but they didn't commit to showing this one. Power writers - if you are going to include gay characters then they need to get the same amount of sexy screen time as everyone else. Just saying. Monet to Dru: You is smart. You is strong.... Y'all know I have no love for Tariq, but I have never liked him more than when chick walked up talking about "dark energy" and he was like "nope!" and ran off. Damn, who knew trust fund roommate had hands like that! And of course he had to keep his fur safe... I really did like him and the niece together. They had good chemistry. And how could I forget about Tate! He's such a dick! I love that even the judge was side-eying him and probably thinking "Is he serious with all this bullshit?" And he didn't blink when Method Man called him out....he's a true politician. Edited September 27, 2020 by luckyroll3 1 2 Link to comment
mxc90 September 27, 2020 Share September 27, 2020 One weird episode! I guess Jabri's office is the only place he can have sex. How hasn't a janitor or another teacher caught him!? Poor Jabari! Thought he had some action with Lauren. It was funny when they asked when his second book will come out and it was revealed it came and went! Come on writers! You introduce cornball Malcolm as if Lauren has a real "tough" choice to make between him and Tariq. Another week for Tariq to give his thoughts on a book to impress the adults. After receiving a stack of cash, did Davis really need to ask if Tariq is in the game? So Dru has prove to Monet he can be helpful to her in this business. But turns out he was useless as he was easily distracted by the guy/art and not get good intel on Tariq. For a moment, I thought Dru was going to get the info from Brayden. Then Monet absolves Dru by claiming Tariq being careful. Good grief! Is Monet going to face consequences from Lorenzo for sending Cane to Guap's place/firing shots last week and now having Guap get a beating? It doesn't seem Monet has an army (seems it's just her, her 3 kids and maybe the cop), so I don't understand why Guap's 10+ members didn't step in and take out her/Cane. They just stood there and watched. Tariq was running as if his sweater or pants was real tight or he had to take a dump. Now Tariq has a gun. Great! Simon Stern never invited Tariq to the wedding! Tasha was doing some weak push ups. LOL Does Stansfield have rules on outsiders walking onto campus and strolling into class? What drugs was Professor Deva on? Welcome Riley......the new Holly. What was the point of having Saxe get a photo of Tariq? Tariq is not allowed to attend a party? Carrie knows Davis! Let me guess: they had a brief romantic involvement! So Tameka cracked a smile first before Monet. 1 Link to comment

Joimiaroxeu September 27, 2020 Share September 27, 2020 Did we know before now that Simon Stern was gay? Not that it matters but the sudden appearance of his boy toy husband seemed like a clumsy way to introduce a new character to me. I think Cane Tejada is 100% nuts. How does he pound on someone's face like that and not end up with his hands damaged if not broken? It doesn't help Monet if her family muscle is out commission while his injuries heal. Tariq is "mad smart." Sure. So in the show universe Stansfield is an Ivy League school. Is it supposed to be Columbia? I'm getting more of a Brown vibe. Monet is cool with Dru's sexuality but she thinks it makes him "soft"? Ehhhhh. Jabari continues to prove he is straight trash. I think Carrie's going to make light work of him because he's too caught up in himself to pay attention to his surroundings. His butt tho. 🙄 Nice job getting rid of the competition again, Tariq. At least the guy is still alive. I feel like his daddy would've killed him already. They were scraping the bottom of the barrel with the new characters, IMO. I don't know who was more cringe, Saxe's trying-too-hard niece Riley or Lauren's toady boyfriend Malcolm. Apparently every episode we're going to be treated to Tariq's trap house analysis of a classic work of literature. Oh boy. 😐 (Wonder if someone associated with this show is a fan of Thug Notes?) 2 Link to comment

There were episodes ( season 1 or 2) where he dropped hints and his wife confirmed it. I agree, the new husband just came out of nowhere. 2 Link to comment
ethalfrida September 29, 2020 Share September 29, 2020 Well, I gave it a try but can't hang in there. So many bad representations. And for some reason, the writers think we are all voyeurs. Reading what's posted in the forum solves that... 1 Link to comment

Yes- from the start of the episode I thought Dru was gay/bi/queer etc, he was looking at Tariq like he was trying to flirt with him. My Mom yelled out "boy dont get distracted!!". Did the actor (who plays Simon Stern, he's pretty well known) get another job or was unavailable for filming and they wrote the husband in as his proxy?- Victor Garber is his name! Malcom, the boyfriend of Tariq's classmate Lauren- that boy is so cheesy its ridiculous. Also, I assumed Method Man & Sheri Straum (their characters) were sleeping together- but I highly doubt married people remove their wedding rings while having sex with the person on the side. Isn't that usually a trope to signify the affair? 1 Link to comment

I could be wrong but I am leaning that the show wants someone "younger looking" and not have older Simon around much. Plus it will be easier to show how Tariq can easily manipulate this character.
