Okay, after checking out the ProjectFearYT subreddit, it seems that they are breaking each full episode up in to 2 parts, and the 2nd part is a week after the first one.  Not quite sure on that part, though.

Also, the 'paywall' part is something they call the Fear Club;  sounds like its separate from the YT page.  Its a $9.99/mo subscription where among other stuff they put at least some, if not all, of the best evidence captures from these new locations/new visits to old locations.

I will likely end up caving and paying that $10/mo to see said evidence captures - because that's what I'm here for and having liked the past 4 seasons of DF - but its really disappointing.  They raised nearly $400K to kickstart/fund this YT venture, and now are charging so people can see the real reason for watching?  Don't get me wrong, I like the format and their reactions to things & interactions with each other, but I watch 'paranormal hunting' shows for the - at least supposed - evidence captures.

Even with a good startup fund from the Kickstarter campaign, it costs money to make the show.  Travel, lodging, and food expenses can add up pretty quickly; and they each probably draw some kind of salary even if it appears Dakota does most of the work (at least the editing, it looks like).  The Fear Club will probably help to keep operating income coming in -- even if it does feel kind of like a ripoff.

Is that you Jeff Fisher? 🙃. Heehee I jest

Anyway the whole charging thang pisses me off. i think it's a big old money grab. They make tons on the Kickstarters and now are asking for more? Hell no. It's too much too soon.  Maybe down the road some but not yet.  Go thru the KS $$ first

If I knew who Jeff Fisher is, I might be offended.  Luckily I am blissfully ignorant (on this and many topics!).

Well I just myself realized I had the wrong last name haha

I was going for Jeff a contestant/survivalist on Naked and Afraid and that's his signature line ' This is what I live for!!!! '. Which he screams at the top of his lungs everytime he scores a fish or eel or something.  Makes everyone else feel 2 inches tall

Okay, so we're behind here in Canada, but I just watched The Winchester Mystery House episode. There was definitely something charging at Alex in that basement and it was creepy to hear. It was very loud and easy to discern. Also, Chelsea's braid moving was also freaky. And I laughed that it took so long for Tanner to find the Venetian room, that by the time he finally did, they were ending their solos, lol.

The second part of the first trip dropped yesterday  -- so as mentioned somewhere above, it is like they're doing what we are accustomed to seeing as one episode into two parts.  I could also live with less of the ancillary yelling (like while selecting sleep locations; legitimate screams and yips are no problem), but overall I liked it.  They got some good stuff.

Perhaps my favorite part:

Spoiler

Alex running and yellling "I'm coming for ya, Chelsea" when really he's fleeing his assigned space (though Chelsea was freaking a bit, but so was he.  Alot.).  Chivalry, thy name is Alex.

So I'm behind and just watched the Ashmore Estates investigation. What freaked me out the most was not Alex's black mist (which they kept harping on) or Chelsea's music box, or even Dakota's creepy EVP. No, what freaked me out the most was the whistling that Tanner caught. It was so clear and loud, and I even heard a woman speaking. I was convinced someone had to be in the building with them. I'm surprised they didn't really focus on that because it was pretty incredible.

Okay, I'm finally caught up. So far, I'm enjoying these YouTube episodes. I really like that they're going back to past locations. It is a bit weird not seeing them in an RV but rather driving themselves. I was surprised to see them using so much new equipment they never used before now.

And I'm laughing at the digs at Zak. Dakota saying how they were never allowed to use the spirit box before because someone else said he made it famous. And the comment about how Dakota is the best investigator, and then he quips trained by the worst, heh.

Chelsea locking Dakota in the body cooler for three hours was extreme. I was worried the majority of the time whether it was airtight and that I was going to watch Dakota suffocate to death. Regardless, I still clicked on the like button in the hopes of him investigating there all alone in the future, heh.

I love the longer episodes and that we get almost a full hour of the overnights. I'm looking forward to the second half of the Joliet episode.

I'm honestly so happy these guys didn't let getting cancelled hold them back and just took the initiative and started this YouTube channel. I hope this show continues for years to come.

They haven't posted Joliet part 2 yet.  I keep checking.

I haven't had time to check but I had assumed it was already up. I wonder what the hold up is?

They didn't have enough time to get the episode edited, so it will be delayed by a week in being released.

Or so I read on the subreddit.

Hey guys, so quick question for you all.

Since Destination Fear is now Project fear, do you think we should either a) Change the name of this thread to reflect that or b)Start a new thread for Project Fear, or c) Continue as we currently are?

D) Fine with any of the above options.

Anyone else annoyed with Tanner the last episode? Handcuffing Chelsea in the hospital and then acting like he was so upset about it? 'I feel so bad but I planned this before I knew what a crazy night we were going to have...'

Like, dude, no one is holding a gun to your head. You could have changed your mind. It just felt so disingenuous.

Luckily Chelsea was a good sport. I would have bludgeoned him on the spot with my flashlight, heh.

Just wondering if anyone is subbed to Fear Club?

I haven't watched season 1 of Project Fear yet, but I am wanting to know if they are actually providing extra evidence captures behind the paywall, or if its more like just access to merchandise or just BTS stuff, etc.

Also, in case its not widely known in these parts, I read that season 2 premieres in a week & a half, on 10/20.

They did provide some extra stuff behind the paywall, but a fair amount was BTS in addition to spooky stuff.

The site abruptly refused payment of any kind from a bunch of people (including moi) kicking them out completely.  The hosting company was unresponsive to both subscribers and the Fear crew --  which was apparently just one of the woes encountered, and they're changing over to a new one.   Not sure I plan to reenlist.

Glad I waited then.

Still not sure if I want to make the financial commitment or not.  I do enjoy watching the team and wish them the best - both in keeping their stuff going as long as possible as well as profiting in their endeavors - but $10/mo or $120/yr is not a super tiny amount for those who aren't super well off.
