AnimeMania March 1, 2020 Share March 1, 2020 Who's "bright" idea was it to have a big fight scene in a dark forest with the two fighters wearing black. I could barely tell which one got hit, what a waste of fight choreography. 2 Link to comment
thuganomics85 March 1, 2020 Share March 1, 2020 So, if I'm understanding everything correct, this New OG Sleeve Kovacs is a basically a back-up one that Carrera/Yager kept around illegally, and this version of Kovacs is someone who wouldn't fall for Quellcrist and certainly never would have killed Rei. Safe to say he's kind of pissed about that last part. Always good seeing Will Yun Lee back in evil mode, even though I've been enjoying getting to see him be good these past few years. More backstory for Trepp: turns out she is the daughter of some kind criminal and they have an extremely rocky history. Not sure if we'll hear much more about that since Evil Kovacs destroyed his slag. Great seeing Carl Lumbly. Poe's journey into the virtual world to try and find Conrad certainly didn't pan out! Danica finds out that her cabal was plotting to overthrow her, so she tricks them into giving her martial law power to subdue the riots, only for her to place all of them under house arrest instead. Classic! 2 Link to comment
Paloma March 1, 2020 Share March 1, 2020 Interesting, but I'm confused about exactly what Kovacs Prime is. Is he a clone that Jaeger/Carrera stored for 300 years while also storing (in VR?) the 300-year-old version of Kovacs' stack (the version that existed before he was put into JK's body in season 1)? I'm assuming that the stacks of the Envoys were routinely backed up in case of being killed in battle. Link to comment
shrewd.buddha March 2, 2020 Share March 2, 2020 I had some trouble buying into the representation of Poe's circle of AI friends. It really doesn't make sense that AI's, when 'hanging out' with other AI's, would dress in period clothing, play darts and read paper books. I think it was Poe's reading a book that actually got to me. I get that it is all done for visual effect - but it seems silly. And I am a bit disappointed that this season is becoming somewhat of a retread of the first season with the ongoing saga of Kovacs and Quellcrist. In season one Kovacs was brought back to solve a murder, which was a story in itself. But season two jumped to the Kovacs and Quellcrist saga pretty fast. I did enjoy the twist of Current Kovacs having to deal with Original Flavor Kovacs, tho. Link to comment

So Jaeger had an illegal back up of Kovacs ( since double sleeving is illegal) from before he turned on the protectorate and found Rei, so this new Kovacs doesn’t know that Rei wasn’t given to a good family or sold to the Yakuza etc... he didn’t get the envoy training that our Kovacs has etc. Jaeger kept the copy of kovacs since he was such a good soldier. 2 Link to comment
tennisgurl March 14, 2020 Share March 14, 2020 Council people really should have seen this one coming, letting Danica have ultimate power seems like a very very bad idea. Even the mercenary guy was like "you idiots, how did you not see this coming?" Awesome to see Carl Lumbly here, even if it isnt having the best day here. I guess he is a fence/crook, and Trepps dad, and wasnt the most involved parent ever. So I guess this Kovacs is a backup program of the OG Kovacs, from WAY back when he was still a soldier and before he joined la resistance, everyone died, and before he woke up again and dealt with the whole first season. So, who gets to draw the short straw and tell Kovacs why exactly older Kovacs killed Rey? There is no really nice way to tell someone that their much beloved little sister grew up to be a psychopath who has been murdering everyone he so much as says hi to. 1 Link to comment
