Like... okay? I mean, they had all just survived a battle, treachery, and harsh words. But sure, vomit instantly equals pregnancy. Why not. Maybe they're all just genre savvy like Jaskier seems to be? I know when I saw her spitting up my immediate thought was "OH, COME ON!" They might as well have just had her grab a goblet of ice cream and a big pickle from one of the banquet tables. I can only assume everyone knew to prevent her from walking up or down stairs for the full term of the pregnancy, and any guards assigned to her must have been prepared with towels and hot water every time she got in a coach. 3 Link to comment

Well the whole Duny/Pavetta thing happened because of Law of Surprise and she throw up right after Geralt said Law of Surprise, i kind of figured everyone saw that and went ohhhhhh... There actually is a clue, they're talking about Law of Surprise, Pavetta looks down sort of guiltily and then throws up. Duny and Calanthe go to her side and Calanthe asks Pavetta "are you" then all 3 turn and look at Geralt...which prompts the "Fuck!" Which is kind of hilarious, IMO 1 Link to comment

Don't forget "Hmm." 2 2 Link to comment

Beyond Calanthe's dedication to politics with the princess -- which she then renders useless by humiliating her royal suitors -- why did the Princess begin floating up in the air after her magical roar? Does she have more powers than the roaring? Was she doing it on purpose? I mean, she was speaking 'Elder Speech' but also didn't seem to have a goal in mind, just floating around in a whirlwind. But then she looked furious when the spell was interrupted and they crashed back down to earth. I dunno. I basically only get about 75% of what's happening on this show at this point anyway. I came here to inquire why Pavetta and Sonic the Hedgehog were levitating and swirling in that magical vortex for a good few minutes. The point of that was entirely lost on me to the extent that I paused the show, turned to my partner and asked what the hell was going on. The only plausible explanation I can think of is that the princess cast some sort of protection spell that created a temporary barrier shield for herself and her beloved. I find this show does not provide satisfying explanations for things much of the time, like how Pavetta came to know Elder speak. Also, if I am not mistaken, the story of how exactly Duny came to be cursed as a hedgehog was never touched upon. Also, I've come to the conclusion that the visual effects department is incapable of rendering any kind of aging makeup, which certainly does not help considering the story is unfolding in three different timelines. 4 Link to comment

It just seems more designed to make political enemies from the humiliation that rejected suitors would feel. Wellll.... actually..... Queen Elizabeth the First, the Virgin Queen, did almost exactly that. Among her serious suitors were her sister's widower, King PhilipII of Spain, and the kings of Austria, Denmark, and Sweden. I think she was also courted by Czar Ivan the Terrible, but I might be imagining that. Link to comment
femmefan1946 July 22, 2021 Share July 22, 2021 The actress playing Ciri has a disconcerting quality, maybe because in some scenes she looks like she's in her twenties, then in others she looks fourteen. ... I agree on Ciri. I can't get a bead on whether she's supposed to be a child or a woman either. That's a lot of what being fourteen is like. 1 4 Link to comment
SourK December 22, 2021 Share December 22, 2021 Queen Calanthe is probably my favourite performance of this season. She's very interesting to watch. I have conflicted feelings about Yennefer's escort quest. On the one hand, it was kind of funny and confusing that she just abandoned it part way through because she got mad but, on the other hand, it was maybe good characterization? Because I feel like we were warned that, if they sent her to court, someone would "hurt her precious feelings" and she'd flip out. But, then, back on that first, confused hand, it seemed like her days at court were over, because the king she was serving sent an assassin after his own wife and also her, since they were traveling together. Like, if she had saved the queen, would they just have gone back to court? Whether or not she succeeded in protecting the queen didn't seem to have any bearing on anything. 3 Link to comment
