  1. Poor Kelly. I felt sorry for her in this episode. She tries really hard to fit in with the group but just doesn't connect with most of them. I'm wondering what Jonah sees in her, aside from the fact that she's really attractive. He seems like the sort of guy who would want some sort of real emotional and intellectual compatibility in a woman, not just a quick bang. Nice to see Dina being so helpful in her own blunt and overbearing way... she's not the complete bitch she often seems to be in the store. Eating a bird must have been a nightmare for her!
  2. Regarding Kelly's videos, I thought the fact that they were more odd than funny was part of the joke. I do love the whole weird gang at Cloud Nine. How many other shows would have a plot that revolved around cup farting?!
  3. So what else happened that we didn't see? I presume there was a lot of standing around, but anything interesting with respect to TAR logistics? As for the episode itself, I was prepared to dislike this season from the start due to the latest variation on stunt casting, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the teams to be generally inoffensive at this point. And Iceland was beautiful.
  4. I know I'm way in the minority here, but I'm one of the three or four people in the world who doesn't find Gina unspeakably horrible as a sitcom character (as opposed to what she'd be in real life). Everyone else at the 99 is, you know, nice. Even Rosa when she lets her guard down. And Hitchcock and Scully may be hopeless slackers but they're friendly to everyone. Not only does Gina provide some balance to all that niceness, I think she also represents to the showrunners a certain type of stereotypical New Yorker -- loud, arrogant, in your face -- that seems to me to have a role as a stock character in a sitcom set in NYC. Of course the rest of you should feel free to mute your TVs when she comes on...
  5. Really, D'Arcy Carden is amazing, not to slight the other actors on this show. I' m not thrilled by the hiatus but it will give me a chance to rewatch the season up till now and catch all the quick bits I missed the first time.
  6. I just want to add a "me too" to those who have noted how absolutely wonderful D'Arcy Carden is in this show. Repeatedly Rebooted Janet has become my favorite character in that weird universe.
  7. I thought the bulk of this year's Halloween episode was kind of chaotic to the point where I was having a little trouble following the story, but the proposal at the end was absolutely wonderful. I know it's only a sitcom but it's always good to see nice things happen to nice people! The inevitable wedding episode will be fun. Oh, and Cheddar. Things are always better when there's a little dog.
  8. I guess I watch BBT out of habit now. The show is still making piles of money for all concerned, but it's way past its prime. I hope they wrap it up with the second Bernadette/Howard baby and the Sheldon/Amy wedding and then let everyone live happily ever after.
  9. I know that the first episode had to be devoted to introducing the characters and the premise, but it wasn't as funny as I had hoped.... more like a few smiles here and there rather than LOLs. I like the characters and see some hope here but I do hope that the laughs pick up a bit next week. As noted above, competition from Sunday Night Football (usually broadcast TV's highest-rated show) will affect the ratings, but Fox seems to be happy with its Sunday comedy block so I'm sure they'll give Ghosted some time to find an audience.
  10. I was planning to give up on this show after last season's finale blew up the whole premise and left me feeling down on the writers, but when I read the highly positive reviews of the Season 2 premier here I decided to check it out last night. I'm glad I did. That was pretty funny and I especially enjoyed the discussions among the various demons... no biting! The Good/Not Good Place is definitely back on my watch list for this season.
  11. I don't like it either! I mean, I know this is only a sitcom, but I actually care about these characters and I don't want to have to wait months to find out how they get out of this mess. And it would have been truly awful if the show hadn't been renewed and this had turned out to be the series finale.
  12. That was really well done, including the perfectly timed Amy/Jonah kiss. They sure blew up that set. It would have been a good series finale had the show not been renewed, and it also nicely sets up things for next year as the store reopens, including how the various romantic alliances will or won't develop. I love the way this show has grown the characters. I agree with the comment above that one or two episodes where we see the gang outside the work environment could be interesting. I presume that everyone made it through, including Brett, since this is a sitcom, but I'm a little worried about Myrtle!
  13. I'm happy to let this be the show's goodbye, with everyone living happily ever after. I think the show had been getting stale this season, although the writers really hit the mark in the last couple episodes when Nick and Jess starting admitting the obvious. On the whole, it's been a lot of fun, and my congratulations to all involved.
  14. OK, so the history is all messed up, but this isn't PBS. I'm really liking this silly show.
  15. I loved Nick's utter helplessness when he tried to break up with Reagan, basically turning into a quivering mass of jelly. He's gotta find a better hiding place on the floor, though. Rob Reiner has been perfect as Jess's dad. And I'll have to remember to crush cans as therapy the next time I'm upset. I'm sorry they finally revealed Schmidt's first name, though. I liked the idea that it would remain a mystery to us throughout the entire run of the show.
  16. I have been assuming that this season is the end, and it certainly seems like it's time. But if so, with only three (?) episodes left they're going to have to move the Jess/Nick thing along pretty quickly. Interesting to read that they've filmed a tentative finale.
  17. My first thought was that it's kind of silly and lightweight, but it doesn't give me any immediate reason to want to change the channel after The Simpsons. I'll give it a shot.
  18. When Glenn was up on the roof with Cheyenne I wanted to reach into the TV and give him a man hug. He just tries SO hard to be competent. Glad that Dina covered for him and let him think he had fixed the heating system. She's not completely awful.
  19. This was a fun episode in what has often been a blah season. Winston and Allie are just SO sweet together... they always make me smile. And the post-proposal kiss with Winston in the bobcat costume and Allie in her police uniform was just perfect. Yes!
  20. I absolutely loved Myrtle and the amorous elderly gentleman, along with just about everything else. And poor Glenn, who tries so hard. This is a show I usually watch twice since I think I sometimes miss some of the rapid-fire jokes.
  21. Another lukewarm reaction here. I like the lead actors, and the concept has potential, but the writing needs to improve.
  22. No, you're not the only one! They seem to be great for each other. I love the way the show has built that relationship, and I was afraid that Aly's family would mess things up. The reason for the Jess/Robbie breakup was funny in a cringeworthy way, but otherwise, the show is kind of running on fumes at the moment. Let's get Jess and Nick back together and pull the plug with everyone living happily ever after.
  23. I'm really enjoying reading everyone's comments on this episode. Myself, I'm still really disappointed that Michael turned out to be an evil manipulator, and if the show gets a second season then knowing that will completely change how I view the other characters interactions with him. There were plenty of hints that The Good Place was kind of messed up in some way, but we were led to believe that while Michael he had to follow some rules he didn't want to hurt anybody, and now we're told it was really the exact opposite. It undermines so much of the basic good mood I felt from the show. I can deal with the concept of blanking everyone's memory and having them start the process all over again, but now it looks like they'll be trying to cope without any allies except the other three humans and the wonderful Janet (who doesn't seem to know herself about the big scam since she wasn't programmed to recognize it). Oh well.
  24. WHAT THE FORK??? I did not like the ending after having become a huge fan of the show during the season. Now that they've blown up the whole premise of the Good Place and made Michael an evil manipulator rather than an endearingly confused bureaucrat, I don't know how I'll approach a hypothetical second season. I'll watch out of curiosity but the writers will have to be really good to get me back to the level of enthusiasm I had for the first twelve-and-a-half episodes.
  25. As one of the millions who feel great uneasiness at the prospect of the Trump presidency, I was curious how this show would handle the issue, and even though it was in fact a little preachy at times I thought they did a fine job. It was intense, it grabbed me, and I think it captured how a lot of people (including some white guys of Pops generation, like me) feel these days. Laurence Fishburne was brilliant as always. Dre's speech at the end was a powerful plea for understanding and communication and I think the country would be a better place if more people thought that way. Maybe there weren't as many laughs as usual, but that's OK. This was an episode that I'll watch again.
