S01.E08: He Has A Wife
ToukieSmith replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
So the neighborhood Gladys Kravitz (Bewiched) can give a good report to the Police. It occurred to me that the phone call could be Annalise setting up her story for when the cops start questioning friends and family about Sam's disappearance/murder. -

Lawd, Mikaela reached out to slap Lynn Whitfield. Girl has spunk. I like her. -
You would think Nene would have corrected her issues with the letter s by now. I cannot believe no one on her team has broached this subject with her. Of course, she probably thinks she is keeping it real by omitting the letter s.

S07.E01: Bye Bye & Bon Voyage

You aren't right. Y'all have had me laughing all day. The best thing about this show is the commentary afterwards. I am already bracing for next week's commentary after the episode of Apollo dropping by his house on the way to prison airs. The rest of the ladies really need to step it up to compete with the Nidas this season. -

He really has no clue. I have mocked him numerous times, but I felt sorry for him tonight. He knows how to look good and thats about all he has in his repertoire. Its stunning that he allowed Bravo to film him acting like a fool. Its amazing that Phaedra allowed it. -

I know, right? Um, Hillary had way more to work with than Phaedra. Bill embarrassed Hillary, but he seemed to have the good sense to listen to his wife more often than not. Apollo never gave two fucks about what Phaedra wanted him to do. He was his own man and his direction led him to prison, again. -

I am a fan of Kenya's, but I thought her whining was unnecessary. She should have ended her comments about Porsha with her appearance on WWHL. I would have preferred hearing about her travels abroad. Dear Cynthia, please ask your husband for a prospectus and review it with your accountant before you invest any money in Peter's ventures. I thought Phaedra should have been at the sentencing.....until Apollo spouted all of that bullshit at the house. He got what he deserved and he is not hurting anyone by asking for a divorce. I have a headache from listening to his ignorant diatribe. Why did poor Dylan need to listen to that? If I were Ms. Regina, I would have swooped Dylan up as an excuse to get far away from that crazy. Apollo is delusional. -
Yep, it frames why he takes issue with the trash Olivia loses her mind over. He knows Fitz is bullshit which is why he killed Jerry. In his twisted way, he is exerting his force as Fitz's (the white man's) equal. You bring down mine, I will take yours down too. I must say this show is more nuanced than I give it credit for (or my imagine is running wild after finishing Gone Girl this morning). I thought Rowan was jealous of Fitz and Jake, but now I am not so sure of that. Olivia won't listen to Rowan and she has left him no choice but to destroy these assholes because his daughter won't stay away from them. I hate Fitz so I am on team Rowan, even with the weekly bloviating.

S01.E07: He Deserved To Die

I don't like any of the sex scenes and I think they are inappropriate for network TV. I think the scenes are being used as story filler and I want more story, less gratuitous sex. -

Word. If this was real life, Fitz would have been impeached and his "team" would be in Leavenworth for election tampering/murder/conspiracy to commit murder. Sally would be President; Rowan and Jake would be free to create other Kings without public notice. The Associates of Pope & Associates would go work for another fixer or succumb to the personal issues that created the need for Olivia in the first place. Jerry, James and Harrison would be alive, but there would be no First Baby.
-
I think Tom's commentary was plausible; the delivery was terrible IMO. Instead of a matter of fact observation, we get a zombie-trance like rant. Tom look liked he had been brainwashed into saying what he said, but maybe that was the point to illustrate the cult of Olivia Pope. Maybe we were supposed to think the whole thing is ridiculous because the obsession played as love by Rowan, Jake and Fitz is totally ridiculous.

Karen and Ella may not know.

Dude must be magical in bed because I just don't see it. If he wasn't POTUS, he would be that sniveling loser from Ghost;-).

I never liked Olitz, but I think they have run their course as a couple. I agree with SallyAlbright that the phone sex was creepy. There is nothing fresh or exciting between them. Or kicked his ass. I was hoping Huck was lurking around one of those corners so he could release his inner demons. Rowan needs to be taken down, but I am not for any team that Fitz is on. If its Fitz versus Rowan, I pick Rowan. I know right? I became nauseated watching that scene because I thought he was going to profess his undying love and devotion to Olivia. I am so glad he did not go there.

Hollywood Divas - General Discussion

I hope she is acting. She is so extra on so many levels. I cannot wait to see the next episode where she tears into Golden for hitting on Forrest. Now, I would not put it past Golden for hitting on a married man, but Forrest can only offer trash bag luggage so I don't see it happening. -

I like Elise, but I don't want to see Assorted Flavors perform. Having fun/performing for fun is one thing, but I hope she is not serious about showcasing Assorted Flavors as a serious act. Maybe it would work better as a concept if the performance was campy. I did not think Elise really wanted Golden to show up either. Golden is too much work. If I were her, I would be calling up everyone involved with Girlfriends to see if they want to do a reunion. Sadly, I really don't see her doing much of anything else. Paula is an idiot. She does not get acting roles because she is an idiot. If her husband is such a good writer, why isn't he working on a show? She is frighteningly delusional. Countess looks like my cousin acts like my cousin and talks like my cousin. Its as if they were separated from birth. -
Cosign. I think Cyrus is the only man on the show that gives Olivia the respect she deserves as a professional. He is the only one that values her professional skills and loves her personally.

S01.E06: Freakin' Whack-a-Mole
ToukieSmith replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
I thought the dance in his room was endearing and somewhat hot, especially the twerking. YMMV. -
I do too. Cyrus does evil well. Well, at least he isn't a moron. He is intellectually superior to every one on the show and that is something. I like the character of Rowan, but I would agree that those long speeches can be minimized to once every three episodes or so. I like the scene of him manipulating hapless Fitz, but he did not need to describe it to Jake .....I got it when I watched it in real time.
-
So Fitz thinks Olivia should hate Jake because he ruined the couple by murdering the First Son. He would let the man he thinks killed his son stay alive as long as he has a chance to have sex with his mistress again.... I hate Fitz. I cannot say it enough. I enjoyed Mellie and Bitzy hanging out on the Truman balcony with shoes off and a martini in hand. I was thinking the same thing. Fitz should have fired her on the spot, but Abby neutralized him once she played the Olivia is sad card - rolled eyes. Rowan seems creepily focused on Olivia. Its as if he wants her all to himself romantically. When Shonda was writing the words for Olivia to say to her Dad at the pool, did she realize the viewer would infer that Olivia's special skills were of a sexual nature considering the way Rowan, Fitz, and Jake treat her?

I look up Lisa from time to time to see if she is acting. During the height of her career she was on two hit shows simultaneously and making movies in her spare time. I was saddened to find out she suffered from Bipolar Disorder. I was glad to see that David Kelley hired her for a couple of episodes of Harry's Law. I would like to see her on this show too. -

Paula's husband is out of line in many ways. Paula should not have to tell him to go get a job. He should get a job to take care of his family. There is nothing wrong with having a dream and a job at the same time. Many of us want to do other things while maintaining a job to pay our bills. Hollywood, IMO, is just like any other job. You work hard and you make the most of your opportunities. You keep striving for your goals, but you pay your bills in the meantime. Paula chose this career and most people no matter their race or sex don't make it in Hollywood. If Paula married this dude to get over in the game, she married poorly.
