  1. Paul Ryan rugged? Yeah right. That man wouldn't know how to actually have a job that required you know, work. And if MM only likes "rugged Americans" does that mean she doesn't like Pierce Brosnan? Hugh Jackman? Daniel Craig?
  2. I could never get behind Bernie as a candidate. I understand Joy approving of his message but IMO Bernie is the wrong messenger. I have his book reserved at my library.
  3. She is on her guard. Poised for a fight it seems like to me. Whoever is coaching her isn't doing her any favors. It is possible to be a likable conservative Republican but by watching the View you wouldn't know it. Meghan is being antagonistic no matter the topic.
  4. If so many topics make MM uncomfortable I guess she isn't the "tough chick" she proclaims to be. Anyone who has watched the View (and for fuck sake MM appeared on the show before as a guest host) knows it isn't a cake walk. You have to be able to speak up for yourself and defend what you are saying or you will get eaten alive. If Megan is unable to do that without being uncomfortable perhaps she should leave that seat open for someone who can.
  5. She could even oh I don't know talk to her own father. I don't even know if it's MM is misinformed or just plain doesn't want to know. I think she is content to play the role that she was hired to play. I mean what else does she having going for her? At least Elisabeth had some sort of background in some sort of designing. But if Meghan isn't on TV what is she going to do?
  6. I just reserved this from the library.
  7. I would never use the word stupid to describe Joy. When she talks about things that require more than just her view she usually has the statistics, sources or whatever to back it up. She might say things some people don't like but she never IMO says anything that would be considered stupid. And I can only speak for myself but if I'm at a talk show and a host says something I like or dislike I'm going to show how I feel. Isn't that what an audience is for?
  8. On FB and also Huffington Post all I have to do is see a certain names and I know which side of an issue they will fall on.
  9. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine
  10. I don't know why it has to be either/or. Fluff or smart and thought provoking. It is possible to be able to talk about politics and also talk about the latest Hollywood scandal. I will never forget Barbara equating the View audience with Wal Mart shoppers. It was her way of saying people who watch the View aren't very knowledgeable. And why she painstakingly explained everything to us. Seems to me the dumbing down of the View started when Whoopi came aboard. Before her with the exception of Elisabeth all the co hosts were very smart and able to pretty much have a conversation about anything.
  11. Was it really possible Nicolle was that clueless about pop culture though? My impression was she wanted to appear she was above all that trivial stuff. There is nothing wrong with knowing all the names of the Supreme Court Justices and all the Voice judges.
  12. I hate to break it to Megan but I think it's her personality that makes people not want to welcome her into their circle not her poltical beliefs. Maybe if she stopped using words like culture war and tribal she wouldn't come across as so divisive. As a self proclaimed liberal I know I wouldn't want to hang out with someone who said we were fighting a culture war. When the right uses that term what they mean is they are living and promoting the "correct" way to live and those who aren't living that way are wrong. So yeah Megan I can understand why the other side wouldn't want to be friends with you.
  13. One person's slutty is another person's normal underwear. I'm just saying.......
  14. I couldn't agree more. I don't dislike people just because they have different political views than me. It's how they express those views that will cause me to dislike them. And for some reason this show just loves to hire obnoxious Republicans. I didn't despise Elisabeth until she became Conservative Barbie spewing her talking points every day. I didn't mind Nicole Wallace. She sucked up to Whoopi a little too much but I didn't find her political views grating. And she called Sarah Palin out for the twit she is right from the start so she will always get points for that. And yes yes yes to all the posters who have said this show should stop pitting red against blue. Just hire people who can have a conversation and let it flow.
  15. Yes. If I remember correctly, Jed Clampett was likeable. As was President Jed Bartlett (The West Wing)
  16. Absolutely. X10. Clearly, the demographic of folks on this site skews strongly liberal, so the reaction to HyperJed is expected. The show needs someone to reflect the huge swath of white females who regularly vote conservative. Jed tends to present that view better than StepfordPaula. The show would be boring if they all just spewed the same position on every topic. But why do they choose such unlikable "conservative" women. Elisabeth, Candace, Paula, Jedi? If I was a conservative woman I would be appalled that these purport to speak for me.
  17. .... & so did Joy!! I don't have a problem with that!! Reminds me of Elisabeth pretending her and Tim didn't sleep together before they were married and her more than once slipping up and letting us know they did. I think that is her thing. Jedi wants to be the villain ala an Alexis Carrington (yes I know I'm old). She wants to be the person you love to hate. Not sure she realizes there is a difference between that and someone you just hate.
  18. I wonder when ABC does focus groups about the View (and I'm sure they do) do they actually have members of the focus group be View watchers? If not and it is just random people off the street they may have no idea what an obnoxious presence Whoopi is on the show. They might just know her from movies and have a high opinion of her. Do they still do Q ratings? Star having a low Q rating is the excuse Barbara Walters gave for Star's firing. If they are using Q ratings I'm sure Whoopi's is high just from name recognition.
  19. For me Michael Moore is an example of like the message, don't like the messenger. As much as I agree with him politically he just rubs me the wrong way. I don't necessarily think people don't like celeb politicians per say. I think it's people don't like celeb politicians who are completely unqualified. I personally think Oprah would be a fine president.
  20. Isn't there a saying "If you stand for everything you stand for nothing"?
  21. It's not just men. I see women wear black shoes with everything. Which is a cardinal sin to me. Shoes must match the outfit.
  22. While I understand Joy's frustration with things for a private citizen like Bloomberg to offer up $15 million dollars to honor a commitment that Trump won't I say we should welcome it.
  23. It's not sexist for Jedi because it was a Republican. To her they are never sexist or racist or homophobic.
  24. Can we all agree Jedi is always going to take an antagonistic stance on every topic they discuss? If Joy says it's raining Jedi will say it's going to clear up. If Sara says it's warm in the studio Jedi will say it's cool. Do I think she beliefs any of what she says? Maybe some of it. Do I think she thinks she is making herself known as a speaks her mind principled person? Yes. Do I think she is a speaks her mind principled person? No fucking way. She is an opportunist. If Trump goes down I look for her to distance herself from him so fast it will make your head spin.
