Jana smiling but IDK she looks a touch sad to me. She looked a touch sad in the TH earlier too when she said she wondered if he'd ever marry -- I have to imagine she is saying that about him bc she has also thought that about herself at some point. It was her and her twin together and now she's left behind as he moves onto "normal" "adult" life.

I fully believe that Jana is not married by choice.  But if not, well then I'll take that too because it will make me feel better about myself as a single mid-30's woman lol

Just because Jana may not want to get married (for a variety of reasons) that doesn’t mean she won’t miss her twin, who’s been her partner in crime and now she is the only one of the “older kids”(Josh- Jinger) left at home.

I could have sworn I read that JD didn't live at the main house anymore.

It was interesting when John David said that he's now kind of a glitter guy, since Abbie's a glitter girl.  Didn't seem at all like anything he would have said in the past -- if he had been asked the question a year ago, I feel confident that he would have rolled his eyes and either tersely said "no, I'm not a 'glitter guy'" or something sarcastic.  I believe this is true love or at the very least he's truly infatuated.  He seemed so happy.

I loved that moment has well "Now I'm kind of a glitter guy... because she's a glitter girl...."  too sweet! (probably because I love glitter myself) and then moments later she's exclaiming how amazing her bridesmaids look because they're so sparkly.

FWIW, I don't think Josiah is gay. I think he married the wrong girl to put the gay rumors to rest. Lauren doesn't strike me as a very warm person. Jessa claiming Si's wedding was her favorite pretty much confirms the whole thing is a farce.

Side note - Lauren has a great singing voice!

Erin Bates Paine was on the piano. No surprise that it sounded like it was being  pounded to death. 😂

I knew it the moment that piano started. I said to myself "I bet that's an Erin Paine piano song" - and the trumpet was kinda awful too.

There are some folks that don't follow the accepted vaccination schedules for children, which is different than not vaccinating. For example, rather than having the kid take the MMR (measles, mumps, & rubella) as a single shot, they will do them one at a time over a longer period of time. It may not be as tragic as that statement implies

My SO rarely watches this show, but I had it on in the background during dinner. He was appalled that Jeff let Leah behave in the manner she did and was like "Wow, that blonde lady instigated the whole thing!" I had to explain to him that Jeff is pretty much only interested in Jeff's feelings and that probably thought Leah's behavior was funny.

Jeff probably thought it was great that Leah was on his side and assumed she was laughing because she found it as ridiculous as he did. He was obviously feeding off her laughter, but that's how he is.  He loves to be right, but when he's validated at being right he loves to stick to the person even more.  To me it's a little weird that that argument triggered Jenni so much, which is why I think it was Leah's laughter that made it worse. And if what Jeff says is true about Jenni (going behind his back asking favors from his wealthy clients) then she's not going to get mad at Leah, she's going to direct it all towards Jeff.

Is MTV just to cheap to fly the Brits out to the reunion? I never understand why they always have to chime in via satellite.

I kinda assumed the cost of paying for a visa(do tourist or work visas cost money? or maybe just the hassle of getting visas for them), flying them in and keeping them at a hotel was probably far more than they thought worth it to have them there in person when they could just have a live feed.

I like the series but have noticed a few changes on the new season, all of a sudden the girls and Amber wearing make-up for the show interviews, I always liked them for their "real" look but maybe people they know have commented, or school peers and they felt the need to be a little more made up on the show.

Elizabeth and Anna are now teenagers so it's very common for girls their ages to become interested in makeup - especially now, I love makeup but holy moly the talent teenagers have now with applying makeup is crazy.  Amber may have gotten into it now too since she has daughters to enjoy it with, and previously when they started the show I don't think she was working, so becoming a realtor she probably decided she needed to enhance her appearance a bit. She looks nice when her hair is done and makeup on.

  5. I don't really find issue with Jeff calling Jenni a liar - what kinda made me cringe was Leah laughing while he was doing it. I'm almost positive that's what made it sting Jenni deeply.

And I'm willing to bet that IF Jenni did have an opportunity she gave it up because at the time she was making way more money doing the tv show and was probably worried about not having that income when that acting job ended.

OMG the celestial painting behind the bed, the creepy mirror, the checkerboard nausea-inducing ceiling.  And Maci was actually LOVING the horrible painted ceiling.  This is the reason it is so cheap!

What the F is in the corner, a llama dressed up in a tutu??

Here is an article about the house.  There are more pictures.

I like weird and ecclectic stuff but that's maybe a little too much for me. In my current bedroom I have an abstract black and white floral print hanging on my wall and so many times I wake up and swear to god that thing is morphing into different shapes.  This room would mess up my middle of the night brain so much.

How do they have almost 7 acres of land, but you can see the neighbor's houses all around them just like a regular subdivision?!

Long and skinny with a huge backyard.  I'm actually surprised they didn't want more privacy but then again maybe they want their kids to have the neighborhood presence - other kids to play with, great for trick or treating. And the stairs on that house probably greatly discourage people to come knocking on their door.

I don't understand the sex revel party. There was like 10 people there, sparsely hanging out and no one was even around Catelynn when she was doing the reveal. Was it a fake setup?  Or they just don't have anyone who is interested.

And the pinata was HUGE flop! She had to pull all the stuff out.

i have a friend who is currently looking in a similar price range as Maci for a house, in which they really have no business buying, so I can't balk at Maci buying something that expensive. And what my friend and her husband want to buy doesnt have a pool or nearly that amount of land!

The essentials of it is pretty basic. I think the trick is knowing what colors to mix and then if you want to do specific things with it. But a basic dirty pour should be easy peasy (but potentially messy lol)

Have you noticed that this family shows very little affection for each other?  Especially the parents toward the children.  There was a little bit of affection shown when Trent took his daughter to the father/daughter dance, but even that seemed forced.  It's almost like the parents don't even like their kids.  No hugging, no kisses on the forehead, no arm around the shoulder - nothing.  But let a kid do something they perceive is disrespectful - oh my gosh - Amber turns into Mrs. Hyde!

The show where Amber allowed Anna to do her hair and make-up for the ad was the perfect vehicle to show her daughter some love.  Instead Amber acted like Anna fussing over her was getting on her nerves.  It feels like she "tolerates" her children for the sake of being on TV (a.k.a. MONEY!!).

I thought it was sweet when all the kids (except Anna) piled into their parents bedroom the first night in the new house with sleeping bags.  But again, Amber made some crack about it being a good thing she and Trent weren't being amorous when the kids burst in.

I am really not liking the parents this season.

My family is not affection towards each other. Doesn't mean we have an awful relationship.  I don't even recall hugging my parents until I was 20-21, when my parents decided to move out of state, suddenly my mom needed a hug every hello and goodbye. I'm still not that comfortable hugging my parents or anyone. I still love my parents and they still love me and would do anything for me.

In one of the THs, Amber made a comment about how they do not modify their homes to more comfortably accept their height.  She said it was because things are average height in the real world and the kids need to learn how to adapt to an average-size world.

I thought about what she said for a while and even agreed with her for a hot minute.  Then I remembered the Roloffs and the Kleins who both had their kitchens modified to accommodate little people.  If you can afford to do this, I think it's great.  The kids will learn to adapt to an average-size world every time they go to school, go the mall, GO anywhere.  But how many times are they going to be tasked with cooking in somebody else's kitchen and getting things out of somebody else's cabinets?  It just makes good sense to at least have the kitchen semi-modified for little people.  I can see not doing anything with appliances, but cabinets - yes indeed.  Even in the Kleins' THs. I've noticed they sit in chairs made for little bodies.  When the Johnstons sit on the sofa with their feet sticking straight out, I focus on just how small they are instead of what they're saying.  If you know you're going to stay in the home, I would even have the bathrooms modified.  Sinks lowered, shower facets lowered, etc.  There's nothing wrong with making yourself comfortable in your own home.  It should be a place where when you walk in the door and just be "you", instead of a little person having to stand on stools to brush your teeth, look in the mirror over the sink, get something out of the cabinet etc.  Can I please sit in one chair in this house where my feet actually touch the floor, even if it's a kiddie chair?!!

I don't know, maybe I'm reading more into this than I should.

They have also been pretty thrifty in their purchases. They're always looking to save a buck so to them, making modifications when they can accomodate to almost anything probably seems like a waste of money to them.

  12. I think Larissa is my favorite. I'm not looking forward to when she become a psycho that we've seen in the previews.

I think Steven is coming from a place of frustration over not being able to see his son as much as he would like or a new father should.  He said he's only been able to spend an hour each day with them and I wouldn't be surprised if Olga told him to stop touching the baby each time he visits and as a new dad that has to feel awful.  She doesn't seem all that caring either.

The art show episode was ridiculous. They were so disorganized. Elizabeth should have had all her art done days ahead, as well as the labels for the artwork.

I don't know why I watch this show, I don't like the parents or Alex at all, the other kids I can tolerate.

It bugged me that she was just trying to crank out artwork for this thing. It just makes art so inauthentic when you're doing it just so you can have mass quantities.  And we saw her attempting a 'dirty pour' painting in one episode - if she's able to do those then she should have had LOTS of those. they turn out really cool if you know what  you're doing.  It's something I want to start trying.

  15. This was probably my favorite episode all season but there were a lot of 'ok that's lame' moments. The way Mallory killed Michael - lame. The ending with the new anti-christ - lame.

I enjoyed having some things tied up - Like finding out how Mallory and Coco were two different people yet the same people, how Coco (and Mallory) ended up at the outpost.  BUT was Joan Collins two different people as well? I'm assuming so since she wasn't gathered up as a witch to be brought back to life in the outpost. But that was super confusing.

Having people play multiple characters was just a bad bad decision. Way too confusing.

But now we know why life in that outpost was so miserable. Because Venable was told she could run it however she wanted and seemed to enjoy making people miserable. She probably had a stash of good food hidden away somewhere all to herself.  But now I can't remember why they wanted to kill everyone with the poisoned apples.

And I think the two perfect DNA kids were chosen as a back up plan for the antichrist. But why did she not die in childbirth?

  17. I wonder if they could go after the previous owners for lying about it being fixed.  I think they said in the first episode that they were told it was fix but putting a towel back there kinda catches them in a lie.

My friend just bought a newish house - it had one owner, they owned it for a year or two, sold it to a different builder who in turn built them a different house so that builder was the seller to my friend.  She found an itty bitty leak in the basement after one rainstorm and she found out that the prior owners had it fixed and didn't disclose it (although i'm not sure how the prior owners would disclose that to her since she didn't buy it from them) but she was so up in arms about it...turns out there was a still a warranty on it so it got fixed no problem but she was really mad.  I can't imagine her finding issues like the Johnston's had and not blowing a complete gasket.

The things inspectors find kinda scare me because my house is so old I'm sure they'll find a bunch of ridiculous stuff and I'm going to have to say too bad so sad, it's a really freaking old house!

    • Love 2
  18. Amber said this episode (or maybe previews from the next one) "IF we would have hired an inspector, they wouldn't have found that" so sounds like there was no inspection of the house before buying.  So if it was a foreclosure is there just no inspection at all or can a buyer hire their own?

I have an old house (built in 1910) and I'm starting to think my house is in better shape than that fancy new-ish one!

I really hope after this episode that they can stop talking about the ex-boyfriend now... that poor kid doesn't deserve to be talked about every single episode.  And hopefully Elizabeth is able to improve her painting skills either in college or maybe take a class outside of school by a professional artist.  I know when I was in high school I thought I was doing amazing things.. and then I went to college for art and it was a complete game changer and realized all the stuff I did in school was pure crap. She'll be glad she sold all those pieces. They should have decent money that she can get rid of those crappy value priced canvases and thin canvas boards and cheap 'craft' acrylic paint and get the good stuff.

I also wonder about Ledia's medical degree. She said she could just be a general practice in her country. Her father is a cancer surgeon trained in her country. So does Ledia just need a residency in the US or to start medical school over. I have seen both happen. Some countries require you to start over and some just require a new residency. Either way Eric's hometown is not the ideal lace for someone looking to further themselves in medicine. Most places that have lots of teaching hospitals are in large cities and large cities and expensive to live in. I cant see Eric moving to New England and paying the cost of living and as a resident Ledia would be making peanuts for at least 3 if not more years.
