As for Danielle, I think she will make it through the first elimination but I wouldn't be surprised if she goes out early.  Trying how to put this delicately. I think she is amazing and did a great job last night and I think Artem did a great job working with her.  But where certain inspirational stories used to be a near lock for the finals, I think the audience has gotten more desensitized the more of those stories we've had over the years.  In Danielle's case also I think there are going to be severe limitations for any dance not in hold or not super slow, though her confidence may build week to week.  I guess I wouldn't be 100% surprised if we lose Danielle in week 2 or week 3.  Also while youtube views don't mean much right now since the view numbers are all very close, Danielle at last look had the lowest views.  John, Nikki and Nancy were in the next tier above her in that order.

It also didn't help that Nyle won when so many people felt that was a manipulated win (on top of him having two pros teaching him). I think that desensitized people to those types of contestants too.

  2. I thought Bobby's reaction was hysterical and I couldn't stop laughing, but I think if he keeps that up it will grate on people quickly. Hopefully he tones it down because I really enjoyed him.

Nancy and John were both better than I expected them to be, but WTF was Nancy wearing? That whole look was awful. I also really enjoyed Artem and Danielle and hope she gains a little confidence from how well she did and lasts awhile.

Tinashe rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know if it was arrogance or what, but I just didn't care for her at all.

If they were going to have Rashad host an online show, then why not just bring back All Access and the online cameras? I miss those.

My early pick for last two standing are DeMarcus and Juan Pablo. I'd love to see Cheryl win again after all these years. And kudos to Erin for mentioning Cheryl's engagement. Everyone's so hung up on shoving Val and Jenna down our throats that no one has even bothered to acknowledge that Cheryl just got engaged too.

I really really really dislike Jenna. That is all.

Talk about confusion.  Over on George Pennachio twitter account, he has the  running order as follows:

    1)Tinashe

    2)Milo

    3)Alexis

    4)Bobby

    5)DeMarcus

    6)Evanna

    7)Nancy

    8)Nikki

    9)Joe

    10)John

    11)Juan

    12)Danelle

    13)Mary Lou

That was a fake George account retweeted by one of the DWTS fan pages. If you go directly to George's Twitter page, there is no such tweet.

I don't think there was some drastic turn by viewers. Alfonso had been annoying to many DWTS viewers for a good while before that dumb comment. The comment just tipped things over the edge for some. The goodwill he had during his season and long ended for many when he just simply WOULD NOT GO AWAY.

I've started seeing some people say that Rashad is now taking his place. Apparently he posted something on IG the other day related to him doing something for the new season.

What I also found so weird about Alfonso is that after his season he stayed attached to so many of the pros --- a lot of them were even spending the holidays at his house --- but that group never included Witney, despite the fact the two of them seemed to be really close.

Yeah, but Mandy Moore and Tony both work for DWTS, so I guess their names could be mentioned. I don't mind if the dance pro's use outside choreo. Not every person who is a talented dancer can be a talented choreographer. It just bothers me because it seems a bit shady that the choreographer that does the work, is not credited for it. But whatever. I think out of all of them, Sharna, Val, Jenna, Sasha, and Emma do a lot of their own choreography. The reason I say that, is because all of them have done choreo for SYTYCD.  That Argentine Tango that Witney and Frankie Muniz did where it was a Pirates of the Caribbean theme, Sharna and Mark Ballas choreographed that.  It's one of the few dances that I still remember, it was so good.

Mandy wasn't employed by DWTS back then. But I agree with you, it's shady. One thing I've always heard is that it was actually Sharna who choreographed most of Maks's later dances with Meryl but she certainly never got credit for it. It makes sense because I don't think Maks is capable of that level of choreography.

I have mixed feeling about using ghost choreographers too. I have been told the reason these ghosts aren't mentioned on TV show is because they don't work for DWTS, they work for the dance pro. Or something stupid like that. I think it kind of leans to a certain degree to dishonesty, because there are times some of the pro dancers seem to take credit for stuff they didn't do. Like when a judge compliments a dancer's choreo and they smile and say thank you, when you know darn well they are not capable of being that creative (aka Witney). Those ghosts must be paid a good chunk of money to keep their mouths shut.

I don't even remember them being used in the earlier seasons. I remember Maks used Mandy Moore to help choreograph Erin's freestyle, but he was very upfront about it and the fact he brought in help because he didn't know contemporary, which had never been done on the show before.

I also remember him having a huge meltdown during his season with Brandy and being unable to choreograph her Argentine Tango, so Tony did it for him. That wasn't hidden either.

Yeah, I’m out. I think I might be done with this show. I didn’t watch any of the mini season because no one on it really interested me all that much except for Adam and he won but the season seemed like a mess and this season there isn’t one contestant I care at all about. The only thing I’ll miss is commenting here but I hardly commented on this show that much but I’ll miss it. I think this show is just done for me.

I'll root for Nancy as long as she's in and the football player, but I'm not even excited about the pro cast. At least they used to be a saving grace when the celeb cast sucked.

How did Evanna Lynch get to be a rumor?

If that's legit she'll be the biggest get in awhile. Harry Potter has been over for awhile, but it's still a giant powerhouse. She could win on name alone.

    I never heard of her.

People are speculating that Gleb's partner could be Sutton Foster.  Which if there was any truth to that, that would be a great get.  She can obviously dance and I think she would walk the fine line of being the type to appeal to the younger audience but also the older audience.  Though Gleb.  There had been rumors of a Broadway person.

I'd love Sutton Foster but those hands are almost certainly someone older than her.

I have lost count of how many times Maks has told us he is leaving DWTS for bigger and better things, and nothing happens. I began to suspect that a majority of Mak's bigger and better things were figments of his imagination.  IIRC, I read there were only 250 seats and the prices were rather high at that dance show. Peta and Maks are not dancing and there is no dancer in that show that can generate ticket sales. So I can understand why people are hesitant to buy high priced tickets to watch a show that has no household names in it. Maks used Meryl to sell SWAY tickets, so no surprise he is using her again to sell tickets. I was never a Maksyl shipper for various and obvious reasons. But I did think that Maks was quite rude to Meryl at times when an interviewer would ask if there was anything going on between them.

I think his bigger and better things are the first thing that pops into his head that he can use as an excuse for not doing DWTS. It's kind of sad how he used to be one of the most popular pros on the show, and he's probably the one who's done the least to advance and sustain his career outside the show.

None of the Sway shows sold well other than the first one with Zendaya, despite having half the DWTS pros in them so I don't know why Maks thought people would buy tickets to this show. I know people shelled out a lot of money for his birthday bash a few years back which was mostly his students dancing, but they were pretty vague about what they were actually doing, and he had a much more devoted fan base at the time who thought they'd get a chance to see him dance with some of his former partners again (which, of course, didn't happen).

Peta walking away from the show is even stupider. At least Maks still has somewhat of a known name and he has his studios to fall back on. Peta is barely known outside DWTS other than she's married to Maks. One indie film is not going to make her an actress. All she has to do is look at her husband to see how well that dancer-to-actor transition goes.

Maks is in NYC in preparation for his dance show he is producing there later on this week. The announcement of the DWTS pro/celeb partners on GMA is on 9/12. His show is a couple days after that. My bet is that Mak's face shows up on GMA on 9/12. I think the Chmerkovskiy's own GMA stock or something. Both brothers come on there to promote projects that are not DWTS related, while GMA does not promote other DWTS pro dancer's projects not related to DWTS.  I think it is kinda funny and obvious who GMA prefers. That weather girl, Ginger, practically drools every time the boys are on.

Maks has been very close with Robin Roberts for years, long before Val was even on the show let alone partnered with Ginger.

It's also not surprising he announced and is doing this show to coincide with the pro/cast announcement. I can't think of a season Maks skipped being a pro that he hasn't announced some cockamamie scheme he's cooked up that he thinks is worth leaving the show for. I have yet to see any of them pan out and actually turn into something. And this year he's taking Peta along for his dumpster fire.

What I do find hilarious is that he actually used a poster of him and Meryl in Sway to try to sell tickets to this show. Sales must be really dismal if he's delusional enough to believe there are still Maksyl shippers around who will jump to buy tickets. I think even the most die hard Maksyl shippers have moved on to either Meryl and Fedor or Val and Jenna.

As good teacher Val has proven, I don't think he would have been good for paralympian. I didnt like he treated Victoria and that to me means he is not cutout for someone who is physically challenged.

To be fair, Val teaches wheelchair dancing classes at DWM Studios. I think he'd be very good with someone physically challenged.

There was also Cristian de la Fuente, season 6 that had a prosthetic arm.  Didn't affect his dancing skills much, but I think he had problems when he needed to spin Cheryl or something along those lines.

I never heard he had a prosthetic? I know he injured his arm dancing with Cheryl and had to have surgery on it.....

Mixed race female pop star (think a younger version of Mya). My niece loves her which is how I come to know her. She has a truck load of dance experience, will comfortably be the biggest ringer of the cast unless they announce anyone else.

She was also on Two and a Half Men.

I suspect we’ll still get a female singer, probably someone young with loads of dance experience like a Normani type contestant.

I just saw an insinuation on Twitter that Tinashe is on and likely paired with Gleb...so good suspicion!

Yeah, they've had a bunch of models on the show.

Rachel Hunter, Joanna Kruppa (before she was a Real Housewife), Paulina Porzikova, Josie Maran, Petra Nemcova ...etc

Wasn't Marla Maples a model at one time too? And Kathy Ireland was with Tony a few years back.

So is Val getting Nancy McKeon? It would be interesting to see what he can do with an older lady. She might have the nostalgia thing going, but I don't remember her having any dance experience.

I could not be more excited about her! This might be the first time I actually vote for Val!

Eh, I remember Giles being fairly unlikable all on his own during All-Stars. Now it's true he didn't come off that way during his original season, but I think maybe almost winning and then being among other great celeb dancers made him a little fanatical. To be honest, I can't remember that many of Peta and Giles' actual dances...just that I really wasn't a fan of his personality the second time around.

Same...but oh how I loved him the first time around with Cheryl!

There's also some buzz (and evidence from Lindsay's own IG page) that Lindsay is in Texas to meet her partner and he's yet another football guy. I've seen crazy rumors that it could be Tony Romo or Terry Bradshaw, but a more likely possibility is DeMarcus Ware who just retired from the Houston Texans at the end of last season.

I can't see Terry Bradshaw or Tony Romo doing it during football season.

IMO the only contestants we’ve had that genuinely fall into the “physically challenged” category are Amy, Noah and Nyle.

    Marlee Matlin, Heather Mills.......

A quick search tells me that this paralympian is blind and has MS so for me goes into the Amy, Noah and Nyle category. She’s in her mid 40s with no dance experience so I don’t see her being a good enough dancer to challenge the winning spots. But she’s a paralympian so she’ll have a work ethic which will help. Most importantly for her obviously is that she gets the right pro, surely they won’t entrust Keo or the newbie pro with someone like her would they? It could genuinely be a car crash on the floor.

The rumor I've seen is that she's with Artem.

Nyle was good given his challenges, but was not the best dancer of his season. Paige Van Zant was better and Jodie Sweetin was better as well.

I will always have a problem with Nyle's win because he had two pros teaching him that season.
