  1. Okay, I feel the need to weigh in on Harrison’s hairstyle. It is an actual thing. My nephew and his girlfriend live in Arizona, and their little boy had long blond curly hair like that, minus that super-annoying piece that hung directly over his left eye. Sometimes he wore it in a ponytail, or even worse in a man-bun (boy-bun? lol). They finally cut his hair before he started pre-kindergarten, thank goodness. But it is a style. This show is filmed in Los Angeles, correct? So this child’s parents may well have chosen the hairstyle, and I have no doubt that the tone-deaf writers would not have considered the idea that this style would not fly in Wisconsin or NYC or even Milan. They just don’t bother with such details. I have difficulty believing that this child has another part playing a boy who identifies as a girl. That’s pretty heavy stuff. LlAs others have said, he doesn’t have the acting chops. The biggest line he has spoken on the show so far is “Mashed potatoes!”. Two entire words. Yay!
  2. I totally agree with you.
  3. I loved the way young Pam slurped her gin and tonic at the bar the same way she now slurps her Big Gulp sodas.
  4. This was a fun game to watch. I liked all of the contestants. Watching Emma and Zach go back and forth was exciting. I got a kick out of Heather. What a great sense of humor! She had me laughing out loud a few times.
  5. I’m with you on both of your Unpopular Opinions! I really enjoy Mayim and I’ve been too chicken to stick up for her because feelings against her on here are so strong. She was so excited when they went to break before FJ with the scores being so close. She sounded like I felt - practically giddy with anticipation. She definitely wasn’t “acting”! I’m so happy to be back to real games again. An occasional clue left on the board is a small price to pay for genuine competition, where everyone has a chance and a person can come from behind and have a chance at winning, and FJ actually means something.
  6. I agree 100% with all of this. I actually said out loud “Oh my God it’s really him!” The idea of him watching a show like that instead of football playoffs was ludicrous - that’s what made it funny. And then the diagrams … and the beret! I’m from Buffalo and I thought that ending was hilarious. Laughing through my tears … lol. The local news stations are having a field day with this! Other than that, I did not think this was a great episode. Too many penis jokes for me. I didn’t know the boner thing was based on a real commercial - that might have made it funnier to me. But then the “Blowing Yourself” bit? A lame joke that went on wayyy too long. The bad dog show sketch was cute, especially the first dog that was afraid of everything. The setup for Trend Setters was great. I loved the outfits! But it wasn’t as funny as I thought it would be.
  7. I bailed halfway through tonight’s episode and deleted it from my DVR. I really like Amy, and I’m very happy for her success. She is definitely the real deal and I am continually impressed by the depth of her knowledge (unlike Matt, who seemed to flounder at anything “pop” related). But I’m bored with her, bored with the runaway games, bored with Ken … just bored. I want to see some real games again. I’ll tune in again in about a month.
  8. I guess it depends on the kid. My grandkids (ages 5 and 8) are very sad that their cousin’s cat recently died, and they are already worried about their elderly dog who has already had a few health scares. When Lenny finally does cross that rainbow bridge, they will be devastated. And if I were to pass away I know they would be heartbroken. Of course I see them a couple of times a week, so it’s more than just visits. The Challenger thing has already been addressed here so I won’t belabor it. But never underestimate the emotions and feelings of a young child. If you could meet my grandson, who just turned five, you’d understand.
  9. I liked Nickelback and I never understood all the jokes about how they were the worst band of all time. Coincidentally, I watched an episode of Lucifer (season 3) last night and it contained a Nickelback joke, referencing listening to their music on repeat as a form of torture. I still don’t get it.
  10. I agree 100% with this. I don’t usually go for the big-voiced belters but Wendy has been my favorite throughout the season. Sure, she can belt, but she’s so much more. She has a beautiful tone with plenty of nuance. Her “Jolene” was my favorite performance of the season. Also, I loved the way she handled herself after falling off that stage. I love her personality as well as her voice. If not for GNT, who had the advantage of being able to do harmonies, she would have won. I knew Girl Named Tom would win after Carson announced the iTunes downloads. They are very good and have a chance at commercial success, especially in the country genre.
  11. I watched “That’s My Jam” expecting to hate it - mainly because Jimmy was pushing it so hard, and I don’t usually enjoy the games on his show. But I actually liked it a lot!
  12. I actually started watching Jimmy Fallon’s show regularly during the pandemic. It became one of the few bright spots in my day. I fell in love with those kids. Franny is a star for sure! I loved her on that keyboard during Thank You Notes. She was definitely showing her creativity. That little smile … those cheeks … give her a few years and she should have her own show! And going down the slide at the end - I just loved that whole thing. Fallon fans, please don’t hate me, but I have tried to continue watching and I have to say, I preferred the pandemic shows. For many reasons (besides the kids which of course can’t be a part of the show!). But he just seemed to be so much more natural at home. That opening where he would run down the steps of his home to that cute little musical tune, rather than The Roots shouting “Hey hey hey HEY!!” I’m not a fan of The Roots (again, please don’t hate me!). I can’t stand Steve Harvey. He adds absolutely nothing. And of course we are back to the silly games and Jimmy fawning over all of his guests. So I’m watching tonight and his hair looks freshly dyed (too dark in my opinion) and short on the sides and long on the top of his head. That’s the other thing about him - he tries too hard to be young and current. Oh and apparently Machine Gun Kelly is his good friend, judging from his show the other day. Hey, I am *really* old and I love MGK’s music, so that’s not the issue. It’s just that buddy-buddy thing that irks. He just seems try too hard.
  13. Same here. I found it absolutely heartbreaking. By the end of the episode, when he was being interviewed in prison, I was actually in tears.
  14. Going back to Tuesday’s game: Mandela Namaste is from Williamsville, NY, a suburb of Buffalo. As a resident of a neighboring suburb, I was naturally rooting for him. Also, he seemed like a really nice kid. I can’t imagine going through school with the name Mandela Peace Namaste! But it is a super-cool name, and fortunately Williamsville, NY is a very cool town. I liked Nancy and was more than ready for a new champion, so good for her! When she started off running through the Royals today, I had high hopes for her. But I guess the DD wager did her in. I like Tyler, and I liked the other contestant (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten). I like games where the winner is not a foregone conclusion. Lastly, I have to say that I really like Mayim as a host. I love her sense of humor, and although to some she may seem “giggly,” to me it just shows how much she enjoys being there. Her enthusiasm is contagious, at least to me. Obviously others feel differently. But I would love to see her as a permanent host.
  15. I have nothing against Jonathan, but I’m more than ready for a new champion. I had high hopes for Erin today. Early in yesterday’s game, I was betting on Anjolie. At least today’s game was not a runaway, and as someone mentioned earlier on this thread, even when Jonathan was ahead at the end, there was often a competitive game for the first part of the competition - not a runaway by the first commercial break, as that poster said. Still, I am disappointed that Erin didn’t win. Unpopular opinion (?) I am liking Mayim more and more. I like her personality and her sense of humor. I could not care less about her off-screen opinions, and I ignore her commercials about brain pills. I just enjoy the energy she brings to the game.
  16. I am officially in the midst of Jeopardy withdrawal. I skipped Thursday and Friday and I’m hoping I can get through Monday without watching. I just can’t take any more Matt. I’m sure he’s a lovely person but he has ruined the game for me. I’m sick of the runaway games. I’m sick of “What’s Churchill” or whatever. My 4-year-old grandson can tell the difference between a person, place or thing. It’s not that hard. I’m sick of him ringing in before he knows the answer (although of course he usually does end up knowing it!). I’m sick of him scooping up all the high-money questions at the beginning of the round - and now the other contestants are doing it as well. I always find myself liking one or both of the other contestants, hoping they may have a chance, but soon realizing they are doomed. I’m done. I’ll be keeping my eye on the news for when he eventually loses and then I’ll start watching again.
  17. Once Caleb dropped out, I knew Chayce would win. Grace could sing her heart out, and it wouldn’t matter. Chayce was not only a WGWG (which I personally have no problem with), but he would get the country vote once Caleb was gone. I would have been upset if Willie had won, but I do understand Chayce winning. Hopefully he will have more success than Laine Hardy. Lindsey Buckingham was one of my crushes back in the day. Sad to hear him looking and sounding so old. A fitting end to a lackluster season.
  18. Of all the great songs Kelly Clarkson has done, Grace had to choose THAT one?! Corny, cheesy, trite lyrics with a mediocre melody, and dated as well. Grace has been a favorite of mine. I think she has a beautiful voice. But I was disappointed in that performance. Casey is not a rocker. At all. She sounded ridiculous doing that Motley Crue song. Wrong for her age, wrong for her voice, just wrong. Of the four she definitely deserved to go. I know this sounds terrible, and I apologize in advance, but watching Willie makes me uncomfortable. Plus he is just not current. A great voice but not Idol-worthy. I did not miss Caleb and his stupid hat one bit. I voted for Grace but I’m thinking that Chayce will win. He is more Americana than country, but he is probably picking up votes from a lot of Caleb fans. He has a current sound, and seems to feel the lyrics he is singing. I’m not a fan of the rasp but that’s just personal preference. His original song “23” was very affecting. I was sobbing after the performance of the Phineas song about the actor who died of Covid. Chayce’s “23” brought a tear to my eye - the Phineas song had me literally sobbing. That last verse - omg. I’m in tears now just thinking about it.
  19. I agree completely with all of this, and it makes me so sad. I’ve watched this show from the beginning, and when Ryan ended the final show on Fox by saying this is our last show “for now,” I was filled with so much hope - ridiculous for a person my age, I know. But I just loved the show so much! I was so excited when it came back on ABC. But it has morphed into something totally different. Of course Covid affected it last year, but this year ... I’m just not feeling it any more. Even Kieran is no longer dimming the lights. Lol. But seriously, it has changed so much, and you have articulated the reasons better than I could. I am forcing myself to finish the season but this is it for me. Time to move on.
  20. That’s an interesting perspective, Joimiaroxeu. Thanks. This might also explain why Elena (Britni?) opted for a shorter hairstyle. I like it with the highlights. It perks her up a little. (Even though she usually still looks gloomy, at least her hair is cute!)
  21. I have, and it drives me crazy! I’m like, how much do they pay that actress to walk through the lobby once per episode, in that same ugly dress, with the exact same hairdo ever since she’s been on. She did have a line last week, however. Just when Kyle and Summer were despairing of receiving their Christmas gifts for each other on time, Ms. Green Dress appeared and said “Excuse me, you each have a delivery.” They must have paid her double for that day.
  22. That is exactly what I thought about Tanner, and his performance tonight was more of the same. He does seem like a really good guy, and his little conversation with Kelly tonight was kind of touching. But ... there’s just nothing special about him. I’m not a country fan, but I loved Ben’s performance last night, and I liked some of the other country singers. But Tanner is just oh so typical country. I’m glad Kelly saved Cami, my hometown girl. She is definitely talented, and as Kelly said, she is in a different lane from many of the others. I just wish she would tone down the drama a little. I agree - Worth the Wait would have been perfect for the Ed Sullivan Show! Lol. They were a novelty in the beginning, and their harmonies were sweet, but how they got this far is beyond me. They were boring last night and terrible tonight. I was cringing when the young girl on the end had her solo part. And they looked especially dowdy and they sang about cancer. Yikes. All in all, I think the right people went through tonight.
  23. I had forgotten that Ryan’s mom was sick. The way they rushed through the announcement that he had to leave - I was so disappointed. I actually took the time to vote for the guy last week! I hope his Mom is okay. MS plus Covid - that is rough. Soooo many country singers! Hopefully the country vote will be split and they will weed each other out. I did like the guy who sang the song “There Goes My Life.” Not being a fan of country, I did not know the song, and it had me in tears. He sang it beautifully. Tanner with the hat and Worth the Wait can leave at any time. I really liked Cami early on but I didn’t care for her last two performances. And Carter really let me down this week. Does he usually use that many runs? It takes away from the purity of his voice. I totally enjoyed Tamara Jade. She sang the hell out of that song! She left me smiling. I needed that.
  24. Yes, Cami Clune. She’s from my hometown, Buffalo NY. I thought she was very good. My daughter has friends who know her and they say she’s a very nice person.
  25. I know this opinion is super unpopular but I am putting it out there anyway because I feel so strongly about it. I really miss his kids. I loved Jimmy on SNL but could never get into his show. He’s a terrible interviewer and I couldn’t stand how he fawned over his guests. Then came the at-home shows. I actually liked his monologues with no audience where he laughed at his own jokes. This was the Jimmy I loved from SNL - he destroyed so many sketches by cracking up in the middle of them and we ended up laughing with him as well as at him. And then there was Winnie and Franny. The first few shows they were shy and a little scared. They followed instructions to the letter. Then they got bored and you could tell. One didn’t want to go down the slide at the end. Winnie was good at hitting the next slide for Thank You Notes but Frannie (who is only 5 years old) was a little slow at hitting the music. And then there was the show where Frannie was blowing raspberries, which I found very annoying - but then again, she’s only five! They were kids being kids, which I loved. Some of the posters on here don’t seem to like kids very much. So obviously our opinion on these shows will differ. And now we’re back in the studio - except the interviews are still virtual, and the monologue gets laughs only from The Roots, who I can’t stand (another very unpopular opinion). And no Franny and Winnie. So I’m out. But thank you, Jimmy, for giving me some laughs during the early days of the pandemic. And Franny and Winnie, I love you and wish you well.
