Jason Ritter reminds me of Joey Tribbiani, but he is very good and Mr MML loooooves this show so much--maybe it's a guy show, although I do like it too. I still remember John Ritter's performance as the preacher in The Waltons, especially the book burning episode--he was so good.

Given the above, perhaps the first wife was booted because she just wasn't very funny and the producers decided she dragged the show down. I think they are trying to be kind to her, personally, rather than lay their cards out about why they really decided to go in a different direction. Ratings vs the first season will soon tell if the decision was a good one....

Hmm now that I've seen it, I think this was one of the most awkward episodes ever. Don't do this again, Show.

I think we are seeing "realistic" vs "Hollywood" autism in Shaun and Show is developing his character nicely toward this, imo.. That his mentor has suggested to him (and was shown actively researching it) that Shaun should consider an aide is telling. Please, Show, when you have back to back intimate bedroom scenes (separately) with the two committed couples, maybe one of the women might just have the sheet pulled up and not be wearing a visible bra? Or wear a night gown or tee shirt that she mightba tually sleep in? Or put a tee shirt on the guys? I know, it's just me, but TV bras in bed before/during/after sex just make me laugh--woman doc at least apparently has been on duty for 24? 36? hours--and she's keeping that bra on? Sure, why not. Maybe that's a thing now.

The whole innocent glass of champagne line was stupid on sooooo many levels. People celebrate graduations ALL THE TIME without champagne. The daughter was an idiot forcing it on her father. Chicago Med last season had a recovering alcoholic transplant recipient who tested positive for recent alcohol abuse and they still did the transplant, so maybe this patient just needs to move to Chicago. Loved the “Oliver” bit. Shaun is so sweet to take things at face value.

I think the terrible things Kevin did have to do with notorious financial shenanigans (like Bernie Madoff) that hurt his clients and resulted in his suicide attempt? Haven’t seen this episode yet, being on a road trip, but ugh to revenge sex past one’s early 20s.

Does it always gave to be Gabby's face we see when the unexpected happens, like Bodin showing up to be the anchor for the tug of war? And sorry, when Brett said some guy had a thing for Gabby--um, she's really not all that. Outside of Showland she's not getting a second look. I was hoping the fire was set by another teacher. And I thought it came across as racist to have Kelly figuratively bludgeon Mateo into "admitting" the fire (like Ruzek on PD last week going after a young dad with his son while Atwater looked on). Not a good scene.

I always hate a show about cops that has episodes about the main cop characters being in jeopardy, being dirty, being the villain. So bleh. I was surprised that Frank hadn't reported his findings and who seriously goes rogue undercover? What did he think the outcome would be without reporting his initial suspicions to his superiors? Better he had been a bad guy or at least an ambiguously "good" guy for the story line, but best if he hadn't been a cop. Who Burgess had trained. Who was pursuing him because, sure, no conflict there. Bleh. I was neutral to the female cast in this but Mr MML like Upton lying to the one bad guy about being able to see his wife and then laying out the photos of her bleeding to death. He likes a little bad ass, I guess. Extremely petty of me and God will get me for this but Burgess/Marina's eyes bug me and I always get taken out of her scenes to consider if she has thyroid issues. Is there a viewer alive who doesn't want more Trudy??? Come on, Show--pump up the patrol side. Or even move her into the detective side--she said something early on last night like "Tell me again why I shouldn't retire" so perhaps a lateral move to work closely with my heartthrob Olinsky is in order (and then Mouch can be all jealous and go off on him and hijinks etc.).

Yes, there and then. Not now and here. IMO. Let's get a little more creative and less obvious, Show writers. Like the movie "Stranger than Fiction" adapted the trope to a voice in the main character's head.

We liked it here in the MML house, usually and unfortunately the kiss of death for a new series. Can’t stand the invisible to everyone else angel concept, though.

I don’t get why P.TV feels the need to go all podcasts. I can’t do them and the written recaps were always good. Writing is too hard I guess.

The patient has stage 4 cancer—can cancer patients donate organs that have had a tumor wrapped around them? I thought this was a good episode—Shaun’s backstory is being spooled out at a nice pace. Love the nurse and hope she is a regular character (get rid of the tall British doc/actor to make room for her—imo he’s not very good). I don’t know House or Norman Bates series so I am taking this show at face value and I like it.

I have to say I’ve never picked up on any sexism from the sharks and no, was not seeing it at all from Cuban in this episode either.

And gee, how did they all get on the show? Sharks should be screaming at the producers. And yet sometimes they admire pitchers who stick to their guns and don’t lower their expectations.

I know someone who was asked by the producers to apply for the show (obvi would have been on the show as she was recruited, but she saw no upside for herself to be on the show and so declined) with her successful and growing business. Cuban could have said the same about the person I know. I think he was really out of line. Half the people get reamed out because their businesses aren’t successful yet, and then people like Kim are gold diggers because they are, and both get edited to look like fools. It doesn’t have anything to do with male or female. I guess there’s a secret sweet spot for where a business should be before being allowed on the show that only Cuban knows. He really should have been yelling at the producers for wasting his time—Kim didn’t walk on the show from the street. Sorry but for some reason this episode really flipped my admiration for him.

Times 100. Then she can compliment herself again for being part of it. Like Casey tells her he might make captain and her response was “I’ll be a captain’s wife” (she said the same thing when he was running for alderman, that she would be Mrs Alderman or something). Because it’s 1955, I guess. Go away, Gabby. Boden gained a lot of weight over the hiatus—he’s pretty thick; he should join Mouch on the fitness kick.

Kim also had worked as an investment banker before starting her first tech company which she sold. I can see a market for the meditation app (not me) and she seems to know what she’s doing.

Seriously, Mark Cuban? This young woman deserves to be called a gold digger? You are dead to me.

I watched one episode early last season (the book club?) and felt no chemistry between the two leads and Donna was boring and just not funny imo. Erin Hayes seemed miscast imo against Kevin James. Maybe she can move into a better part on another show now and play a more dynamic character. I watched this season's first episode and felt it was a little rough but there was some sparkle to it and undeniable chemistry, not romantic but comedic. Plus I loved the idea of speaking Australian at the Outback Steakhouse--ha!

I'm in. IMO Highmore is just amazing. I am so impressed that he plays Sean so we see there really is something "off" with him (vs for example the Chicago Med autistic-ish surgeon whose issues needed a big reveal and major pandering, or yeah, I watched "Sheldon" too about the adorable little socially awkward aspergerish boy--gah). The upcoming episodes look intriguing. Maybe every time there is a stereotypical moment (like who didn't know that woman doc was hiding in bed next to the nekkid one--ho hum, just stupid), Sean will call it out if he's in the scene. Like when he asked the woman doc later in the cafeteria about lying to him rather than answering her question. I could do away with all the imaging of the cardiovascular systerm floating around--I hope Show quits doing that as it's distracting. I didn't mind the flashbacks as a way to give the backstory vs blah blah blah exposition, so at some point they logically should end. Plus I thought little brother looked more like Freddie so I was confused for awhile. We had to turn on subtitles for the blonde whoever she is--speak up, girl! I think this episode had a big cast and I doubt I'll ever remember all the characters' names if they all get lines everybweek.
