  1. You're at a loss over what? Some people are making a mountain out of a molehill. She didn't jump out of the car and beat someone up. She yelled an obscenity - and not even directly at the person.
  2. If you’re sick and tired of any whining, you have pretty easy remedies - like not reading the posts that bother you so much. Unfortunately, those of us who can’t stand that orange gasbag don’t have such a simple solution. Even if we could manage not to hear or find out about so much of his BS, we can’t avoid feeling the effects of all of his dumb, catastrophic decisions. So what reasons did he have to whine INCESSANTLY before the “assassination attempts?” I don’t usually lean in to conspiracy theories, but I definitely have huge doubts -especially after the first incident. I will NEVER believe a coward like him would jump up if he had any fear his life was in danger. Why did they make people sign NDAs and threaten people at the hospital to keep everything secret? Why not release the medical records? Does any rational person believe part of his ear just miraculously grew back (leaving no scarring)?
  3. She got a perfect score for the night, but with the previous week's scores factored in, she didn't end the night with a perfect score. Chandler's friend Milo Manheim had an actual perfect score and lost to Bobby freaking Bones. Chandler was only one point ahead of Joey and two or three ahead of Ilona. Her coming in third was not some statistical improbability. She didn't have enough fans. It's as simple as that. This is a show that is not just about dance. It's about who people like personally, too. Just because the Black couple lost doesn't make it racist or some grand conspiracy. A lot of people didn't like her. She was boring. Sorry, you can't deal with people feeling that way. Not everyone watches the rehearsal packages. I'm hoping to see two men compete the same way Mark and Derek and JoJo and Jenna did.
  4. This season started out with so much promise - and seeing the other eliminated dancers, I don't wish any of them had been in the finale - but this season ended the way it went all along - underwhelming. I'm not sure if there's a single dance from this season that I'll remember. The only person I rooted for was Stephen. And I stress the word "person." I knew he wasn't the best dancer, so I was OK with him not winning, but I still loved him. Derek's best comment was about the two being 'two dancing anti-depressants.' I didn't root for Joey, but I'm sort of okay with his win. At least he's not Bobby Bones and can dance. Pretty early on, I was reasonably confident he would win. Unfortunately, The Bachelor Nation is a solid voting block. I think if Jenn had competed in a season without another member of that franchise, she might have gone farther. The best thing I'll say about Joey is that at least he wasn't a ringer and the first Bachelor to win. I wish they would stop picking people from that show (and Disney teens), but I know it will never happen because of the corporate synergy. I figured the only actual judging of the night would be in the first round. I thought the freestyles would be a sea of tens. I was really glad that Carrie-Ann, at least, wasn't just handing out tens willy-nilly. I've never agreed with her more than when she called Joey's freestyle "underwhelming." That was the perfect word for it. It wasn't the worst ever, but it wasn't great. It's so dull and nothing extraordinary. The only interesting part was the glow-in-the-dark rackets, which were only a very short portion of the dance. Despite Derek and Bruno going with the ten program, you could tell by their reactions that none of the freestyles moved them as much as previous ones. None of them reacted with the enthusiasm they did to Jason Mraz's freestyle last season. And, for once, I don't think any judges declared this the best finale EVER. My favorite dances, by far, were Derek and Mark's AT and Stephen and Rylee's freestyle. I'm not sure why people were surprised at the format. It's the same as last season. They did a recap before they got to the actual competition. And has there ever been a season where they didn't let us know exactly where each person placed? I wasn't surprised by any of the final rankings. With how things went tonight, it was easy to see Danny coming in last. I wasn't sure if Chandler would be fourth or third. I knew she probably wasn't pulling in the votes. I still feel like I know nothing about her personality. Of all the pairings discussing their friendship, I didn't buy any real bond between Chandler and Brandon. I hope with Derek and Mark's dance, they might be open to another same-sex pairing. JoJo and Jenna shouldn't be the only one (I know, technically, Gleb and Shangela were a same sex pairing, but Shangela did the whole season as his drag persona.)
  5. Bobby Bones winning underscores that, yeah, the fan vote can overcome the judges’ scoring. There’s a reason they stress so much how voters can’t assume their favorites are safe. Alfonso and Witney’s freestyle is still one of my all-time favorites. When people talk about a journey, they’re usually talking about their journey on-screen. I actually found it funny when Brandon specifically mentioned how much Chandler has grown through the season. She started off great and is still great. She's had no journey the viewers could see. How exactly has Carrie-Ann “ginned” up hate for Chandler? By dinging her for lifts? That’s not her being racist, but inconsistent - which she is notorious for. Despite priding herself on being the lift police, she’s never done it consistently. In fact, I’m surprised this seems to be the first time she’s done it this season. It might be because it happened more than once in one dance. Other than that, Carrie-Ann has mostly sung Chandler’s praises up and down, just like the other judges. One of the reasons I’m now starting to actively root against, versus simply finding her boring, is this faux victim stuff. Does Chandler experience racism and misogyny? Of that I have no doubt. Social media is a cesspool. It’s one of the many reasons I’m moving away from Twitter. But is Chandler (or Charity last season) the first one to experience it? Sadly, no. And they won’t be the last. But, what I would really love is if you would stop acting like the only reason people dislike her is because of racism. Just because you think she’s a magical dancer doesn’t mean other people‘a opposite reaction is wrong or secretly nefarious. Chandler is not the first to be called boring. Chandler is not the first to be called out for her experience (take a look at the reaction to Charli a couple of seasons ago. Pretty sure Charli isn’t Black.) Chandler’s not the first to experience inconsistent judging. Just because her fans think she should be getting perfect scores every week or the point spread between her and the others isn’t to your liking doesn’t mean she’s being treated unfairly. How many weeks has she NOT been done on top of the leaderboard? Wasn’t she told the very first week she set the standard? The tongue baths haven’t stopped from there. Short of the show being stopped mid-season and her coronated what do her fans want? I also wondered that - about the straps. I assume during rehearsals the glasses stayed on, but they should have had a fail-safe for what happened.
  6. I disagree. In fact, watching this week's episode, I specifically thought about how far Whitney's come as a choreographer. I thought if she had a dancer who got emote/performer better, salsa would have been an all-around amazing dance, not just a lift fest. I remember many of her dances with Alfonso and Milo Manheim and a few of her great ones with Frankie Muniz. Again, I don't think that's true. Actually, they've become stingier with 10s in the last few seasons. There were times people would roll their eyes because contestants were getting tens in week 4. I believe Alfonso got his first 10s - a perfect 30 (actually, it was a 40 because that week viewers could give their scores, and he was the only dancer that viewers gave a 10) for his week four Jazz (the Carlton dance.) Though that was absolutely deserving. I can't remember when the first perfect score was handed out last year (it might have been for one of the team dances), and the first 10s were not long before that. This year, Chandler didn't get the first perfect score until the quarter-finals, which is a week after Dwight got the first 10 because Carrie-Ann went crazy with the 10s on Halloween night.
  7. I think it is true for many of them. I know some of the previous pairings have stayed friends. Heck, a few have gotten engaged or married. Ugh!! Echo those who think a five-person finale is too much. At least last year, when they pulled "Shocker, no one is being eliminated," there were only four people in the finale. I had an inkling this would happen because I didn't finish the ep last night, and today I saw an E! headline about the "shocking" elimination twist. Since they indicated it was a twist that was allegedly shocking and not an elimination, I wondered. Before the last segment, the way Julianne stressed how unimaginable it would be to lose any of them seemed fishy. Also, you can usually tell when they do stuff like this because there's so little time in the last segment. Once I saw there were only four minutes left, I was pretty sure no one was getting eliminated. Even though I hated it, Stephen and Ilona's reactions were cute. I still believe they're trying to protect Chandler. I guess they feel we can't have a finale without a teen, Disney kid, or Bachelor/Bachelorette contestant. Chandler reminds me so much of Charli and other contestants like her. I can tell her dances are technically good, but for the most part, they make me feel nothing. Bruno mentioned how unforgettable her foxtrot was, and I forgot about it before she had even finished. I didn't realize how forgettable Danny was until I was shocked to completely forget he hadn't performed his final dance. I find him and Joey almost interchangeable, except Joey does really well at emoting. I think Danny tries, but I feel like he always looks dead behind the eyes, and whatever character he's attempting feels hollow. Ilona did have a great night. My favorite two dances of the night were her waltz and Stephen's tango. I almost had to watch Stephen's cha-cha through my fingers. He must have completely given up on sexy because he smiled that goofy smile of his two seconds into the dance, and I was like, "Cute, but not sexy." There were other obvious mistakes. I agree with Derek that I love the song for their tango - "Sweet Disposition." My heart was in my throat when I saw his glasses were askew. I agree with Carrie-Ann; how he handled that (and Rylee as well) was impressive! Like I said, I hate the idea of a five-person finale. I hope they do like they used to when they had four-person and three-person finales where all the finalists did the dances, and then they eliminated one contestant right after the freestyle.
  8. Using Michael Richard’s as an example doesn’t really work IMO. That comedy club incident happened in 2006. Him writing a book and promoting it almost 20 YEARS later is not an example of someone who wasn’t cancelled. Has he done any high-profile work other than that? I disagree. If people simply left it at “that person did something offensive that I don’t like and I won’t watch/listen to/buy anything they’re involved in” that would be one thing and only controlling your own behavior. But people in social media do get together and try to cancel people and end their careers. They try and force others not to hire that person. That is an example of trying to control other people’s actions. Obviously I think that is depressing and horrendous, but it doesn’t prove cancel culture doesn’t exist. Just because it didn’t happen to him doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened to other people. Yes, thank you! That is the book I was thinking of and definitely the example I was thinking of.
  9. Cancel culture absolutely is real. I remember there was a time I was on Twitter when every day there would be some hashtag of why this or that person should be canceled. People aren’t truly cancelled for accidentally using the wrong pronoun, but there are definitely a lot of people on social media who love to act like judge, jury, and executioner and long for people’s cancellation. And just because the cancellation doesn’t stick or they manage to find work again, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. I remember years ago hearing about a book with stories of people who had been exposed on social media for doing or saying something horrible - sometimes something racist - and how they basically lost everything (job, friends, family, etc.) Now, I don’t necessarily feel sorry for some of these people facing the consequences for their actions, but it does show that people do get cancelled.
  10. That’s not what that cartoon was depicting IMO. It very clearly shows someone on the center saying they agree with both sides and the Left acting violent with the Right as tolerant folks welcoming of everyone and all opinions. That is not reality. While there are instances of violence against people on the right, the vast majority these days is being committed by conservatives. As someone else rightly pointed out, look at Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney if you’re going to claim the Right are so welcoming of differing opinions. Look at Joe Manchin. A lot on the left dislike him intensely for his right-leaning views, but no one kicked him out of the party. They didn’t strip him of positions like conservatives did to Liz Cheney. Democrats didn’t censure him. Sure, MAGA will be happy if you vote for their side - just as long as you shut your mouth and don’t utter anything like immigrants aren’t animals or women have a right to control what happens to their body or anything “crazy” like that. The Left will also welcome any and all votes. Harris touted freaking Dick Cheney’s endorsement of her.
  11. LOL what a ridiculous cartoon. Like most of the people on the right would bother asking if that person was alright. And as if most on the right are so tolerant of different opinions. A more accurate cartoon would be someone on the left giving that person on the center a verbal slap while the person on the right would kick them while they were down while calling them a libtard.
  12. It was mostly just a joke. I know TJ and Molly’s history. I also remember the Molly and Brando hook-up. Though I think it was more a drunken one-night stand so it doesn’t necessarily represent who she’s attracted to usually. For those that don’t know the history it might seem funny the show seems possibly poised to move Molly from one African-American doctor to another.
  13. Mine, too! I was thinking about the this today because as much as Kristina and her ridiculous thirst for revenge annoys me, I think she has every right to think of, and feel that, Idella was her daughter, because she was - in every way that counts, biologically AND legally. Yeah, it sucks that she was thinking of reneging on her agreement with Molly and TJ, but Molly probably would have been in a stronger position to fight it if she and Kristina hadn’t been idiots and listened to their mother to make sure everything was hammered out legally. They didn’t do that. Kristina was the biological mother with legal claim. She never signed away her rights. And, even if she had, I think she would have had a window to change her mind. That fight between Jason and Drew was pathetic. How manly of Jason to get in a sucker punch. It reminded me of the kind of fights you’d see on a show with two teenage girls who would mostly hold on to each other in the midst of exchanging slaps. You mean to tell me neither a hit man or Navy Seal would take the golden opportunity they had to utilize a head butt? It would also have helped if they had actually made Drew look worse than they did. He should have looked like Rocky in Rocky 4 given how people were reacting to his minor injury. I would have respected Michael a lot more if he looked like he enjoyed Drew getting hurt instead of this constipated “well, I didn’t know this was going to happen” look. Ugh, Kristina. I hope in her prep Alexis asks her point blank if Ava pushed her. Though, I’m not sure it would matter. Kristina would either lie or she’s so deluded she thinks that is what happened. I’m not sure if it’s lazy writing or realistic that Molly seems to have a type - African-American doctors. Very specific.
  14. So, basically it’s exactly like I said people like you just have sour grapes that you didn’t benefit from something, so now no one should. Sorry, that’s not a valid reason why something shouldn’t happen. I guess women shouldn’t have the right to vote. Women didn’t get to before, why should that change. By all means you do that. Who’s stopping you?
  15. What individual expense are you talking about? Who is being hurt by this? Sure you can demand they pay off your mortgage. Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
  16. You’ve complained now - several times - about how you have an issue with people getting their student loans forgiven. How exactly was I so off the mark by saying you’re begrudging them that? I’m sorry you don’t like it, but that’s how I see what you keep saying. Also, for someone who is complaining about generalizations, you’re doing an awful lot of that yourself when it comes to younger generations. People who have gotten their student loans forgiven cover a wide range of ages, and yes many of them have struggled. The fact of the matter is tuition is way too much and sometimes loans - which are horrible - is the only way people can swing it. I’m sure a lot of people in your generation did complain about how much school cost. They just didn’t do it on a large enough scale that it created any change. This generation is. A lot fewer people are going to school now and it’s because of how crippling the cost is, even outside of student loans. Trying to do something about that is not a bad thing. It’s not about being lazy or needing to be coddled. It’s about doing something to better not just their situation, but make it better for those in the future.
  17. I do love that Chandler had mildly lower scores one week, and people were complaining she was being treated sooooo unfairly. That girl has gotten tongue baths almost every single week. However, I think that's happened these last few weeks because they're trying to keep her in the competition. I think this is the third time she's been in the fake bottom three. I don't know if she's been in the real bottom two any of those times, but I think they keep putting her there to scare her fans into voting more. I hope they don't do instant dances again. I get the concept behind it, but most of the dances just felt like the same retreads you see when they do the dance-offs. It was clear most of the pros did not consider it a fun challenge. This is pretty much the semi-final results I expected. I'm glad they're not doing a five-person finale. I hated it when they did that. I'd much prefer it if they went back to the three-person finale formula.
  18. I’m not hoping for it, but today’s show made me start to wonder. It’s bad enough he slept with his nephew’s wife. Now, he’s screwing over his best friend. They even had Brennan today insinuate Drew had an ulterior motive in being with Carly. I don’t know if the show was being serious or Brennan was just trying to get a rise out of Carly. Either way, this feels like back up the truck writing, which I am not a fan of at all. Maybe I’ll be the only one to say it, but fuck Jason. I don’t care what Drew has done. I’m not rooting for that emotionally-constipated, serial killing hit man. He may never have slept with a relative’s partner (though I can’t remember if AJ and Courtney’s marriage was over before Jason swooped in) but he did steal his brother’s child and basically tell him fuck your feelings when said brother complained. That’s not any better. Jason can eat a bag of dicks.
  19. Definitely not. But, I’m pretty sure after she was done with that she left again specifically because she thirsted for a life of adventure and didn’t want to stay around in PC, even for her girls.
  20. It reminded me of the scene with Mac and Robert where they tried to compare Felicia’s past treatment of Mac to Holly’s treatment of Robert. Sure there’s a superficial comparison, but that’s it. Felicia is different than Holly in many ways. She was truly remorseful and worked to get Maxie and Mac’s forgiveness. More importantly, she changed and stuck around. Adventure didn’t take precedence over her family and she proved that. Holly, at this point has shown she will never put anyone above herself - unless literal life and death is on the line. She’s not truly sorry for anything she’s done because she keeps doing the same things over and over. Table of two.
  21. Black Lives Matter predates COVID. And, I don’t believe just because Black Lives Matter was used as an example that it means that someone is suggesting only Black and White are the only races.
  22. The difference is Biden didn’t have to pick a Black woman or any minority. He did it because he recognized that Black women have lifted him up his whole career. Also, because he is aware that diversity and representation matter. For her, she had to pick a White man because she, and everyone around her, knew it would be a struggle to get a minority woman elected, and putting two minorities together would have been even harder.
  23. Like I said before, I also had to pay off my student loans. I would love to have had the opportunity to have them forgiven. It sucks that I didn’t, but I still don’t begrudge others the opportunity to have this good thing I didn’t. Should we not fix problems just because others who had to suffer don’t get to experience that better life? Should we have kept schools segregated just so the new and old generation could suffer the same way? I’m sure there are older gay people who never got the chance to marry their partners and that’s terrible. It doesn’t mean that gay marriage equality should have never happened. There are a lot of people out there trying to fight to make sure things like SS and Medicare don’t get gutted. They’re some of the same people who are fighting for student loan forgiveness. It’s not an either/or situation.
  24. We don’t know yet if he has no ties to anyone. When Trina first debuted she wasn't connected to anyone - other than through her friendship with Joss. Then we found out she was related to Taggert and they brought her mom on who was connected to Curtis. I don’t really see the need to connect him to anyone. It’s not going to matter to a lot of people anyway. Gio was brought on connected to Lois and Sonny and it hasn’t mattered. Oscar became related to Drew - becoming a Quartermaine and still a lot of people didn’t care. The only young male characters they’ve brought on the last few years who haven’t been connected to anyone was Rory and Dex. I don’t recall Gio having a crush on Joss. I think he’s been chem tested with both Joss and Trina, but he’s never indicated having any romantic feelings for either of them.
  25. I thought that was a really poor choice. I was confused at first because I thought when he started talking about there being too many wasted opportunities that he was referring to Sasha, but he was talking about his relationship with Holly. Still, it was pretty sad he had nothing to say about abandoning his newfound daughter (other than saying it would be a round trip). And, of course par for the course that worst mother Holly didn’t care at all about trying to convince Robert to bother spending time getting to know his daughter. Newsflash show, you’re not the first to rip-off Casablanca but it feels like the laziest. It feels weird to call the reunion of a couple with this much history rushed and unearned, but that’s how it felt to me. I think Gio has plenty of personality. He’s cute and sweet and has a mostly good-natured humor. It’s funny to me that so many complain about what a block of wood Dex is, but also complain about Gio. The Gio actor really does put his all into his scenes and does connect with a lot of his scene partners. It’s pathetic the show hasn’t figured out yet what to do with him after all this time, but that’s on the writers. And after Cameron left, I do think we need more characters in that age range. So, so so clichè. And IMO not even a fun one. Two people meeting by bumping into each other is one of the oldest and, at this point, laziest meet-cutes.
