I didn't really like Derek and Braeden even before this. Like with almost all TW romances, it was forced and very little build up. I rolled my eyes so hard with Braeden just randomly ripping off her shirt in front of Derek and their "ooh look how close they're talking, aren't they sexy?" moment. But Derek looking at Braeden like some kind of lovesick teenager when they've barely spent five minutes together did not help their cause with me, at all. He was a teenager with Paige. He's grown up a lot since then and become a lot more hardened. I don't remember him looking at Jennifer like that at all. Everything with Derek/Jennifer happened at warp speed, like it is with Derek/Braeden, but Derek never mooned over Jennifer. That's the kind of thing he has mocked Scott for in the past.

I'm guessing the audience is thinking about this more than JD is, which is why I'm not going to blame Papa McCall just yet for being a deadbeat, because we don't know what he knows. They had him bending over backwards to apologize to Scott for not being there for him at the game and painted him in a sympathetic light. I don't think it was their intention for people to wonder why Papa McCall wasn't holding up his end and let the lights get cut off. Or JD could be just as lame as the General Hospital writers from years ago. The show had a plot where a nurse and detective were barely able to make ends meet and had to basically rent out her womb to pay the builds. It didn't make a whole lot of real world sense with that show then, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense with TW now. I think this was my favorite episode this season, though that's not really the highest praise this season. The best ep this season can't hold a candle to even the most lukewarm episode of seasons 1 or 2, or even 3A. I was intrigued by some of the plot elements in this episode. Like Parrish finding out he's on the deadpool and him, Stiles, and Lydia questioning Meredith. But by the end of the episode my interest had waned with the entire episode considerably. I didn't care about any of the Beacon Hills new class, and I so enjoyed when Rafe got that smug smile to drop off Violet's face, but to kill off both teen assasins seems like such a waste, especially with all of the build-up with them. I don't like Kira and didn't miss her presence at all. I don't think she would have done much in the episode besides stand around and be quirky in the background. And at least she got some kind of explanation for her one episode absence. Unlike Isaac, who's gone period and the show can literally barely muster up more than three words to explain why Chris left an underage teenager in a foreign country. I really, really don't care about Liam. Scott's a cute Alpha!dad but I don't care about that relationship and I've been given no real reason to care about Liam yet. I love Scott, but I really wish they'd write him better when it comes to being an alpha. Why not alpha out during the fight instead of swinging away uselessly? I'm with a couple of the other posters that when Scott was waking up and Deaton was lingering over him, I seriously that they were going to reveal Deaton was the bad guy. That did throw me for a loop for a few seconds. I don't hate Derek, but at this point I say just kill him off. I'm tired of seemingly every mid season promo hinging on the question of "Oh noes is Derek going to make it?" Either kill him or come up with something new.

I loved Eric's best friend, and I always loved the actor Jason Marsden when he appeared in anything. I definitely hope this show is like the good old days and doesn't devolve to much to how most shows are on Disney nowadays.

As much as I wanted to love it, because of how big a fan I was of BMW, part of me was prepared for this to suck or be really awkward and not funny. I've seen a few Disney channels in the past and they aren't for me at all. But happily, this was miles ahead of some Disney programs I've seen. It wasn't just good for a Disney show, it was good, period. Like others have pointed out, the "world" stuff was really painful, clunky, and overkill at times. But the rest of it really worked for me. Rowen Blanchard is definitely the perfect casting for this character. She just looks so much like a combo of Topanga and Corey, though a little more like Corey. She pretty much had me sold right from the beginning when Maya asks her what her expression would be like if she tried to walk past her parents to go to the subway and she had this panicked/frightened expression that felt so perfectly Corey, I almost got deja vu. And even though she's not related to Shawn, as far as we know so far, Maya looked a lot like Shawn to me. It might be a little heavy-handed, but I don't mind that their friendship is a clone of Shawn and Corey. Though there were several moments were I thought a Shawn appearance would be so perfect, though I understand why the show is holding back on that. I loved that Corey was still Corey, but more mature. I laughed when he was talking to Lucas in class, after he'd literally dragged him from the cafeteria and said his sense of direction was better than he thought and then marveled at what a good-looking kid he was.The nose thing has kind of thrown me off a little every time I've seen him since the show was announced. It's so weird because it only weirds me out when he's turned to the left. When he's facing straight ahead, or to the right, it looks fine to me. But I got used to it as the show went on. I do hope they address why Corey got into teaching. I never really pictured Corey as that into History or the idea of being a teacher. I wish Topanga had more to do, but hopefully that'll come in subsequent shows. I adored her delivery when she was walking to Corey and Riley and asked them not to pick between the two people she loved equally and then quickly said she was just kidding and hugged Riley. Farkle was funny in spots and a little much in others. They do need to tone it down some and find a better balance for him. I had no real problem with the younger brother character, but I kind of wish they had kept the older brother (or was he supposed to be slightly younger than Riley?) The younger sister never had much to do on BMW and I always liked the dynamic and relationship between Corey and Eric. I wish the Feeney cameo had been a little more than a "ghostly (it really seemed like a ghost thing) appearance" but I guess it worked for what this show is, which is Riley's show.

No offense but it's not really for you to say that it's not a D+ episode. You liked it and that's great. Other people may have gone in with different expectations. I probably would have given the episode a C, C-, but I can't begrudge anyone for not being entertained and giving it a lower grade. A show doesn't have to be Breaking Bad to require or expect certain things from it. I used to love and adore this show, but it's gone downhill fast. I don't want or need it to be BB, but I did need some character consistency and entertainment that doesn't constantly have me scratching my head and wondering what the writers were smoking. I was dreading the return of this show. The gap between this season and the last was too damn short. I didn't hate the episode, but the highest compliment I could give it was that it didn't suck. It was just boring. I can't even count the number of times I looked at the clock in that first half hour. God, I rolled my eyes so hard at that scene. That and Malia's introduction. Did they seriously break out the wind machine? WORD! I love Scott, but I kind of didn't feel too bad for him in the torture scene because he kind of deserved it. I wanted to slap him and the rest of them. They seriously went on this dangerous rescue mission, in foreign territory, with barely any information and no back-up whatsoever. They didn't stop to consider a family if hunter might employ the use of wolfsbane. They didn't even need to bring Chris. But at least give us an idea that they did some legwork and questioned people like Chris or Deaton instead of going in half-cocked. Other than Scott, Stiles, and Lydia I didn't find much connection or chemistry between anyone in the new Scooby Gang. I think they needed to establish some of the relationships better instead of throwing them into this adventure. I'm still mostly indifferent to Malia, but I'm kind of creeped out a little by her relationship with Stiles. It feels so far kind of like a watered down version of Xander/Anya from Buffy. Except on Buffy they didn't throw them together and immediately act as if they were soulmates. I have no idea why Malia is so dependent on Stiles already and basically listens to every word he says. I don't want to be mean, but I didn't buy Arden Cho in that torture scene at all. I think we were supposed to feel sorry for her or empathize and I kind of just wanted the Grandma hunter to slap her. I not only missed Allison and Isaac, but I missed all of the regular supporting characters like Melissa, the Sheriff, Chris, the Coach, etc. I wasn't surprised by the teen!Derek twist. I had read a spoiler that when they found Derek there would be something unexpected going on with him. When I saw Ian Nelson's name in the credits I knew teen!Derek would be making an appearance.

Shipper Wars: Favorite And Least Favorite TV Couples
FilmTVGeek80 replied to mstaken's topic in Everything Else TV
When I watched the first season for the first time, I didn't really think much of the idea of Gwen/Merlin, but after watching it a second time I saw how cute their chemistry was and I got mad that they just dropped the idea and moved her over to Arthur. I thought Gwen and Merlin had way more chemistry together than her and Arthur. Whew, glad to know I'm not alone, especially on the Pacey/Joey like. People just adore that couple and I never saw it. I'm sure Scott Foley doesn't really care and is just happy for the pay check, but I hate that he's in the same position on Scandal. I'm sure most people realize that Jake/Olivia is not endgame, so I wish they would just end it and now and let Jake have some dignity. That was such an awesome moment. I remember watching it with my family and we all lost our damn minds when he interrupted the wedding. -
Shipper Wars: Favorite And Least Favorite TV Couples
FilmTVGeek80 replied to mstaken's topic in Everything Else TV
Favorite Couples (All Time): Ross & Rachel(Friends) - I get why people had their problems with them or hated them. The will-they-won't-they-shit got old really fast. In a way, as much as I loved them, I kind of resented Monica & Chandler a little bit because they got to be a couple that were stable and dealt with their problems together. Yet for some reason the writers thought R&R had to be drama all the time. But I still thought they had great chemistry and belonged together. As much as some people complain about it, I think if they hadn't gotten together there would have been a HIMYM type backlash against the show. Piper & Leo (Charmed) - True soulmates and perfect for each other. Merlin & Arthur (Merlin) - Not an official couple, but may as well have been. Truly outstanding chemistry. Jack & Ianto (Torchwood) - Stupid RTD! Favorites (Recent): Mindy & Danny (The Mindy Project)- I just have to think about the recent finale and I get giddy. These two complement each other so well and the chemistry is amazing. Mickey & Ian (Shameless) - Great actors, great drama, great chemistry. Snow & Charming (Once Upon a Time) - Great couple. Lots of angst and yet they make it through together. They're sweet and yet have great passionate chemistry. Least Favorite Couples (All Time): Pacey & Joey (Dawson's Creek) - I know it's an UO but the more I had to hear about their vaunted chemistry, and the more I just didn't see it, the more I resented them. I hate a lot of other couples for the same reason. Plus, I loathe triangles and am not a fan of friends swapping partners. Rachel & Joey (Friends) - What the hell were they thinking. They just did not have romantic chemistry and no way after so many years was I interested in these characters all of a sudden pairing up randomly. It was just awkward. Arthur & Gwen (Merlin) - They were basically paired together because of the legend, and that was the only reason. So the show writers didn't bother to put any thought or effort into their pairing and just expected people to buy it. Buffy & Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Another one of those "the chemistry is supposedly so amazing and but all I see is meh" couples. Plus, Spike's out of nowhere obsession ruined his character and they made no sense together and were pretty disgusting. Felicity & Ben (Felicity) - Why is Scott Foley in all of these horrid triangles where he's the designated loser and is so much the better option. I could not get over the finale. Sure Ben cheated for ages on Felicity because she couldn't get over her best friend's death fast enough. The solution - let's have Felicity have a crazy dream in which Ben isn't a cheater and later in the real world get back together with him because of...reasons. Barney & Robin (How I Met Your Mother) - There were a lot of things I disliked about the final episode of HIMYM (the ridiculous waste of one season for a couple who get divorced five seconds later) and I might not have loved how the break-up was handled, but I can't say I wasn't deliriously happy that Barney & Robin didn't end up together. They were never right for each other and the show never should have went there again after the first disastrous try with them. Least Favorite Couples (Recent): Damon & Elena (The Vampire Diaries) - Just all the no in the world. Again, I don't think their chemistry is all that and even if their chemistry was amazing, those two are toxic together. They are amazingly bad for each other. I almost can't understand how people can want to see them together. Scott & Kira (Teen Wolf) - I just find them overly cute, overly quirky, overly bland. I've seen more heat in couples from Saved by the Bell. Emma & Hook (Once Upon a Time) - They just feel so forced and I don't think their chemistry is that great.
