Alice is so obviously pregnant now and way too pregnant to be flying. It seems an odd time for Pastor Tim to travel abroad. What if she went in labor while he's gone? With this being their first child and her an older mother, well....it seems an odd choice. I guess the need of the people in Ethiopia was more important to them. There's a commercial for Chase Bank of a couple walking their pet pig on a leash. They are a ringer for Pastor Tim and Alice!

The Soviet Union is No More: Casting News, Story Arc Info
SunnyBeBe replied to parandroid's topic in The Americans [V]
Oh, I thought the scene with Pastor Tim showed him sitting at a table in an interview room, like he was being questioned. But, who want to question him? The KGB knows he's a huge risk and if it wasn't for P & E would have taken him and Alice out long ago. Maybe the only way out, short of killing them both, after the baby is born, I hope is to have some fake FBI agents show up and talk to them in a top secret way and explain that P & E are undercover agents of the US government and are so secret that Paige was not even told the truth. And that Alice and Pastor Tim have to play along with this story for everyone's safety. -

I am amused the writers saw fit to make Alice pregnant and very pregnant at that. There is no way P & E will take down a very pregnant woman. I just can't envision it. I guess it will be played out depending on what is going on with Pastor Tim. Alice has made assurance plans, but the problem is that she has tipped her hand. I guess she doesn't think P & E have the capability to search her home and church to find what she has prepared. Is there more than one copy? I wonder if this crisis is really something that P & E were no part of. If so, Paige will sense it. Maybe, this will be the time that Paige steps forward and develops a plan for taking care of Alice and Pastor Tim and she will play the major role. Maybe, she has developed some spy skills and she'll be able to resolve it. Maybe, she'll go into labor and die in childbirth. Paige intercepts the letter to the authorities and Pastor Tim never returns. I would put this on Speculation, however, you have to discuss a Spoiler to discuss it. -
Oh yes, I can't wait to see how Elizabeth will use the staged event to play Don. I mean, maybe, she took photos when we weren't watching. How would that be explained? Odd. I mean, she didn't really have sex with Don, so what would she photograph? What if he denied it? Is he too honorable for that? I do think that P & E are aware of Paige's struggle to keep up appearances, but there's only so much they can do. Paige has always been a tortured soul. Recall back before she knew anything about her parent's spy job? She was a malcontent then. Let's hope the Camaro will help ease her burden. lol Yes, I was suspicious of Titana when Oleg spilled some sensitive info. Is her job to see just how much he will reveal? AND I felt the same way about William. Did he throw the concept of not turning over the virus info as a test by The Center to see what P & E would do? Recall how when Philip informed him in the subsequent meeting that they WOULD report it, Philip asked him pointblank why William even told him in the first place. William thought fast and said, it was a big decision and he didn't want to make it on his own. Really? PLUS, there was the strange thing about Gabriel not being kept in the loop. Is he okay? What's up with that?

I thought that Philip appearing at the cemetery was risky too, but then I thought that it would probably be unlikely that the FBI would suspect that a KGB agent would feel remorse and want to visit the grave of an FBI Agent that they had murdered to show respect. I'm a little confused about Maurice. I know that Lisa said he had met a woman in Florida and disappeared. Didn't that mean that Elizabeth or someone had already taken care of him and his body will never be found. I mean, if Maurice was alive and well in Florida, I would think that when E returned to the house after taking care of Lisa, she would have said that Maurice was a loose string that needed to be attended to. Because, if he was still alive, he would likely spill the beans if he got word of Lisa's death and returned to be upset that the money had dried up. That wouldn't be good. I cant 't see them not taking care of Maurice for good. Of course, I know others say that that is why E made the comment about going to Epcot. I guess we can't know the answer to this for sure.

Stan certainly will find out, IMO. That's why I don't understand why P & E have not gathered intel on him to hold over his head. If they had enough info on him, like photos, they could portray him as a traitor. The threat of it, could be enough to buy them some time. They need photos of him in their house, them in his house, them together in his car, and as many dates and facts to support the fact that HE is not as he appears. They seem to have a hands off approach with him. -
They might have a time lag on the tracing the call and getting to the location, but what about recognizing his voice? Obviously, Stan would be listening to it and he might pick up that it's Philip's voice. The voice recognition was my concern. And regarding E's neck injury. I thought that the glass from the bottle flew up and cut her. Shivers of glass can go flying when they break that way. I do wonder if the scene was cleaned up and the body disposed of or was it left there? How much investigation will there be?

I was impressed with this episode and noticed it was directed by Rhys. I normally don't notice, so I'm not sure if he does this regularly or not. It was an episode that I found myself wanting Philip to do or say certain things, which he did not. The EST influence perhaps. Before Martha boarded the plane, I wanted him to comfort her. His words would have meant a lot. Something like, "I really cared for you. I do want you to have a good life. Know that you meant so much to me." Small words that I think were true. Why not give her that in parting. It seemed cruel to me. Then when Elizabeth tried to comfort Philip. It was awkward, but she was trying. But, no, he was at first mopey, then disagreeable. What was the point. HE was being honest, but still a jerk. Then, when Stan came over. He seemed so depressed. I mean, he really was a turn off for Stan. If you really wanted to know more about what was going on in the FBI office, agree when E invites him to dinner, instead just standing there. Rude, IMO. And don't Philip and Gabriel realize that the FBI have Martha's parent's phone bugged? Of course, they would. So, why suggest that Philip could CALL them with a message? Crazy talk, IMO. Elizabeth was my favorite last night. She bent over backwards to be supportive of Philip. To me, he provoked her. She tries EST and gave her honest opinion about it. Isn't that what EST stands for? Speaking the truth? She did and he goes off. And I agree. I was thinking what she was, before she said. EST seems like a gimmick to me. E tried to get the woman to go to AA, but no....E had no choice. You can't reason with a drunk person. And Elizabeth had to address Paige. The girl is a dangerous prima donna. She needed the dress down. It was for Paige's own safety too. If she spouts off again, the Center could take Paige down. E knows this. Why is there talk of Martha being dead? I thought it was clear she was alive and well. Didn't Titianna and Oleg confirm this in private? Is Gaad gone for good? I hope not. I like him. Can someone tell me what he was advocating with Stan?

Yes, they seem to look at each other, but, I wasn't sure what to make of it. I guess, I thought it was cultural or something. Maybe some other fans will chime in. I sometimes think they don't like speculation or spoilers and they stay clear of these threads. I LOVE it, though. I enjoy a show much more when I know what is going to happen. lol I tend to speculate a lot about this show, but I'm normally not right. I was right once, that I recall, about the young man who killed his parents. -

Well, I hope that Martha doesn't get the disease and that she is able to find happiness one day. Regardless, of what she did, IMO, it was as a result of ignorance, brain washing, intimidation and fear. I really don't want another Nina type scene. -

I have a fantasy of Oleg and Martha hooking up. He may want to protect Martha since STan was the guy who was responsible for Nina having to return to Russia and not now Stan is the reason that Martha has to go to Russia. Stan sure is intent on hurting good women who are caught up in the mess, but why can't he catch some real criminals? Plus, what about the innocent Russian that Stan killed. I'm only half way kidding. -
I won't judge Martha too harshly. I mean let's consider General Petraeus...sometimes people use poor judgement. I watched this episode twice, but I still am not quite clear on the instructions about the transport and the plane. In the beginning they used a code name for it and it was called "the Sample." Were they referring to the rat in the jar or Martha? I thought Martha, but the more I think about it, the more I am unsure.

I don't really fault Martha at all. IMO, while she did love Clarke, I think that a certain amount of fear was involved it it. Initially, she thought she was doing the right thing and helping her country. It's like brain washing to me. Our feelings about Patty Hearst have changed for many over the years. I agree about her parents. I don't think they could even in their wildest imagination suspect the truth. Their worst fears might include a marital separation, loss of an saving account, losing job, etc. NOT KGB! Oh my....At least she told them that she loved them. I have to believe that someday before they die, they'll get a message that she's okay.....even if she's not.

Good point. But, even if it was fraud against Martha, it would be her right to assert that. If she chose, she could claim the marital confidential privilege. My concern might be if it's valid due to his marriage to Elizabeth. Do P & E have a marriage license? Was he already married and therefor the one to Martha was bigamous? And if he wasn't really Clarke does that void the marriage? So many questions, but I there is an argument of privilege. Maybe, it won't every come to that. I'm hoping that Martha can find love and happiness again. Certainly, some Russian with American travel experience and knowledge of English would be available in Russia....perhaps if Oleg returns. -

I'm still thinking that Martha may be pregnant and if the show goes on long enough, we will see some little Russians. Maybe one named after his dad. -
I can't imagine Martha getting much leniency if she turned herself in. I would suspect she would get a hefty sentence, but maybe not death. IF they can prove that her actions caused Gene's death....I think they would skewer her.

Who was the person who got hit in the head with a bottle in the previews? The second time I watched it, it looked like an African American female standing in a kitchen. Who is it? The plant worker who Elizabeth worked for money a couple of seasons ago? -

Okay. I have so many things that I anticipate right now. One of them involves that computer in the Jennings house. I'm now thinking that Henry may show Paige how to do some school work on it. She then decides to type something about her feelings, which include her parents' secrets. She may get confused and not delete it. So, does Henry then read it and wonder WTF or does Stan's son try to help Henry on the computer and he's the one who finds it? -

Yeah, but if she gets to the FBI, P & E and maybe Gabriel are toast. -

Can someone remind me about the listings that appear on the IMdb site. I know that in the past, I have checked them to see if a certain actor showed up as appearing on a certain episode. Sometimes, there was no listing that the actor would appear in those future episodes, but in fact they later did appear and the info was updated and the info made current. My question is what about the opposite? What if IMdb DOES list the actor as appearing in certain episodes. Does that mean that they will or could it be a fake out? IMdb list Alison Wright as appearing in ALL of the remaining episodes this season. Is this accurate? Could she be in a dream sequence? Or does she survive to the last episode. How is that possible? Just wondering. -

I can't envision Clarke asking Martha to do something and her refusing. She's so invested in him and any thread of hope she would place with him, IMO. So, I hope she finds him. I would think she would call that special phone number and maybe get through to someone, but we'll see. Wouldn't it be funny if she just disappears and neither side knows where she is? I have a question on a part spoiler, part speculation. I guess I'll take it to that spoiler thread. Why is it so difficult to get to that thread now. -
I did love the episode, but have to admit that I was rather annoyed, because I got the feeling that P & E and their comrades were bungling things similarly to how the FBI has bungled things over the course of his series. Why would the FBI be able to search Martha and Philip's places and yet Philip has no idea. Really? If the big question is whether or not she's been blown, then I would think that watching to see who goes to check these places might be a great way to find out. Also, the FBI said that the tape was taken from the answering machine. Were they referring to the tape on the answering machine of Clarke or Martha? I'm assuming Clarke. And I agree. Why would so little effort be put into ensuring that Martha stays put in Gabriel's house? That just seemed sloppy to me and just a vehicle to get Martha running. I didn't care for it. I do think Martha wanted to get pregnant. Her mind was probably going in so many directions, but she really wanted that. I have adored Martha from day one, so I do hate to see her demise. Can she be saved at this point? Well, I guess short of an actual Clarke showing up to admit that he's been having an affair with her and all of his facts checking out......nah, I guess that's not likely. One thing that I detest is how Stan will get credit for this. He's so smug. I hope to one day see how he feels when he's nailed as a spy due to his relationship with P & E. Plus, he contacts to save Nina. A case could easily be made against him. I wish that P & E could see that and get evidence together so that they would have least have that as leverage if they get blown and need his protection. I've never understood why they have never done that.

Can someone tell me the name of the group song thatt Adam's group did? Over halfway through, I realized I knew the song, but they had changed the melody so much that I couldn't believe it. Now, I've forgotten. I wasn't too impressed with them, but I do like that song. Okay. I got it. It's If You Want Me To Stay.
