  1. Oh, I don't think that poor kid owed Baby Yoda anything, including his cookies. But Baby, being the selfish -- and insatiably hungry! -- toddler he is, just took'em.

Isn't it about time for Mando to give the kid a name? How much longer can he call him "Kid"? Even "Junior" would be an improvement.

    it wasn't super great

I wouldn't give him too much grief - she had boasted how she was primed to do all the heights stuff, she was perfectly safe, and she'd been ragging on him the whole race. Better a quick laugh at her expense than letting it all build up to an explosion later on.

  3. Okay, new theory:

The Imperium didn't fall because it was too large, dictatorial and would stuff any idiot into a stormtrooper uniform; it fell because all the competent people fell into pits unprotected by guard rails! What did the Imperium have against guard rails, anyway??

Great episode, nothing too heavy, just action from start to finish, with just a little goose to the overarching story arc. Just lots of fun from beginning to end.

Oh, and Baby Yoda continues to be a little cookie-stealing stinker! The arms-up 'whee!' as Mando flew desperate evasive maneuvers was great, and the blue urp-up after it was over was hysterical.  Glad to see Blue Guy, Greef and Cara again, and to see Greef has definitely come over to the side of the good guys (for now, anyway). His squealing over Baby was adorable. It sucks that Gina Carano's been so irresponsible in her pandemic tweets (that goes beyond politics because it's downright dangerous) because I really like her character.

Also, for a defeated empire, there sure are a lot of active Imperial bases and soldiers still out there. But I guess it's a big galaxy.

  4. Another fun episode. It's almost impossible but I am so in for a Blonds win. They're fun to watch, they have such great attitudes and yes, they're easy on the eyes. How did they manage to look cute even in beards!

Meanwhile, I am so over Hung. I really felt bad for Chee when Hung started berating him in the car for feeling frustrated when he hadn't said a word. Now she's punishing him for thought-crimes!

Whether prompted by the other teams or not, I thought it was a good move for the blonds to Yield Leo and Alana. They needed the advantage. And I liked Leo and Alana, they were having so much fun on the race, and that's infectious to watch. But geez, did they overthink the counting task.

So is next week's megaleg another 2 hours?

  5. Fun episode, but a 5-team alliance when there's only  7 teams left? Ridiculous and destroys a lot of the drama & tension of the Race.

Still love the blonds, love their attitude, hope they somehow manage to keep sticking around.

Was hoping for more clown car antics with the Trabants, but most teams seem to get the hang of them pretty quickly. Agree that the boyfriends should have gotten a penalty.

And, cliche or not, I wouldn't have minded a mat greeter who was a "beer stein holding buxom wench."

  6. This was the first episode where I could have done without the Sheldon story. He was just annoying and completely unfunny. A rare misstep.

Yes, the 'dad having to deal with daughter's first period' has been done to death on sitcoms but they managed to make it sweet & funny. And I love that Missy pitched that day and pitched well! (And she's such a great little actress.)

The Mary-Georgie story was great until the very end when George ruined the movie for her for all time! That was hysterically disturbing. Die Hard 2 might be a safer bet for Mary now!

  7. Baby Yoda is a baby. He's selfish and mischievious and kind of a jerk sometimes. Just because he's cute to look at doesn't mean he's wise or holy. Sometimes he does good things, sometimes he does bad things. Same with Mando, same with those New Republic pilots who let Mando off the hook, but refused to do anything more to help. The only clearly bad guys are the ex-Imps. And that may change too as we learn more about their motivations.

Baby Yoda saw/smelled/sensed something delicious and we know he would eat constantly if he could. The Kid's appetite is insatiable! Leaving the eggs where he could get at them was akin to leaving the cookie jar on the bottom shelf of the kitchen cabinet. What did you expect! He's kind of a stinker, and I kind of love it.

  8. Loved the emphasis on the Sheldon-Missy relationship this episode. Sure, they mostly ignore or insult each other, but they still have that twin bond. Seeing his relationship with Missy when he's young helps explain his relationship with Penny when he's older - they offer him an emotional intelligence he often lacks or doesn't know how to access.

I would have liked it if Georgie had insisted Dale keep the money - after all, he may not have taken it, but he was looking after the store when it was stolen. Of course he took the wrong lesson from the moment and blabbed to Dale about him and Connie egging the store!

Dale is dull, his storylines are dull and I don't care if he's dying or drying out. He just doesn't interest me. Bring back Wally Shawn!

But this is all nitpicking. Very glad this sweet, funny show is back.

  9. Ah, Dani, thanks for the correction. I've hardly watched any Star Wars since the Original Trilogy so most of the minutiae goes right over my head. One of the things I'm really enjoying about The Mandalorian is that, sure, you may get more out of it if you're a dedicated Star Wars fan, but  you don't HAVE to be.

  10. I thought this episode was a helluva lot of fun. I actually jumped several times during the spider sequence, especially when the big one jumped the ship. Baby Yoda is such a stinker. Mrs. Gummo pointed out that since Yoda's planet was a swamp, so frogs and frog's eggs are probably similar to what they really eat. The Kid is insatiable but I guess he's a growing boy/girl/thing.

Some of my favorite episodes have been episodes that didn't necessarily advance the bigger story arc. What's the freakin' hurry?

  11. That was a lot of fun, but I was soooo looking forward to a whole evening of TAR. Boo CBS!

That definitely wasn't real glass - Leo playfully broke one on Alana's head after they completed the challenge.

I'm liking most of the teams this season. People get momentarily bitchy - wouldn't we all - but no one's mean or vicious. I'm glad the blonds survived, they're my eye candy for the season!

I'm wondering if the orchestra's music wasn't overdubbed in -- when they played a few bars iwhen they were first introduced, they were way out of tune. Then as if by magic, their sound was perfect.

I still miss airport drama, but The Show is more interested in challenges these days.

    ... so to speak.

Great to have The Show back, love the return to Tattooine, love them fleshing out the Tusken Raiders as more than one-dimensional scary-joke bad guys (much like Star Trek: Deep Space 9 did for the Ferengi). But sand worms! Does every desert planet in every universe have sand worms!? Frank Herbert has much to answer for.

Liked seeing Mando softening on droids. Just before we watched the new episode, we watched the last 3 eppys of season 1, so the sacrifice of IG-11 was fresh in our minds. I'm glad that affected Mando as much as it did us!

I almost thought Mando was going to break his code at the end and let the Marshal keep the armor. But no, some things are sacrosanct, apparently.

The production values on this show are truly wonderful. The visuals are consistently spectacular. Disney is sparing no expense and it shows.

  13. BB should have contracted with Disney to build their animatronic Dr. Will. The one they got is so cheap and fake looking, it doesn't even move realistically.

And Day's speech would have had more impact if she hadn't played such a shitty game. All her reads were reliably wrong - she distrusted those who were trying to help her and clung to people who were working against her. Nothing to be proud of there.

  14. Ugh. If Dani & Nicole had any ovaries, they could have gotten Tyler out, and teamed up with the outsiders for a solid 6 - Dani, Nicole, Ian, David, Kevin, Day. And taken control of the game. But I guess the lure of the Kool Kids Klub was just too strong.

Now we just watch the pagonging unless Day, Kevin or David get HOH. And knowing David, even if he does, he'll screw it up.

Kinda feels like the last chance to make this season interesting just slipped away. Looking at a brotastic finale.

Don't know if I should post this here or in the episode thread so apologies in advance.
