LSSC: Season Nine Episode Talk

Oh yeah, Whitmer was okay. Yeah, yeah, a bunch of them nazis about 2 or 3 years ago were gonna 'nap and kill her, oh yeah, it was unbelievable. tRump kept egging them on to do it too, like he does everything. In prison a guy like tRump is called "instigator". The moustache was probably Stephen at his improv best. Yanno he is a frustrated actor, or maybe "thespian" would be the word for that idjit. But he says he's never done standup, just worked improv at the Second City, doing improvisational comedy. So the miming and the 'stache are probably improvisational on his part. That'd be my guess at any rate. :) -

You're alright, mr. shifter. :) I'm kind of kenless m'self, to be honest. One thing, we miss the Jimmy Kimmel for sure. Katheryn Hahn was terrible my wife and I both thought. I kinda liked that goofy Martin Short, but he's way too much, mostly. -

Agree totally, it's phony. It's why Kimmel's so cool, he doesn't show any phoniness, and seems like a regular guy, only smart as hell. Yup, and i liked that she wants to talk to those tRumpies who tried to kidnap/kill her. Shows her presence in reality and desire to learn. -

I don't want to like argue the point with ya, bud. But I just think it's a bad habit, I tell ya. Ever watch him on Colbert Report? He did it there, and it was hilarious, but now he does it constantly, since when, 2017 or whenever, and not necessarily to punctuate a joke line, he just does it. I'm glad the band doesn't give it much cred with sound FX either. He over uses it. I tell ya another thing about Stephen i don't like, that he started on The Report. It's an encore to start his show. He comes out, welcomes the audience who are applauding constantly, then he says, "i'm stephen colbert." and again the audience goes nuts. His Report was wildly popular, with a strong fan base, i remember the day he did that: He comes out, welcomes the audience, who are just rabidly applauding, says his name, and they wildly applauded again, and from there on out it has never stopped. NOBODY else does that, nobody. I'm tellin' ya, Kimmel's so much smoother, so much more engaged on a person to person scale with his audience, it's not even funny, except he is. All Stephen's gotta do is STOP saying "I'm Stephen Colbert," before his opening monologue and that shit'll stop. I really don't care much for pandering or milking applause. I mean i get it, and it's okay sometimes, but habitually, nah, cut it the hell out. If you can't be real at least give us the impression that you know what real is and fake being real, even tho it's not real to you. 👊 -
Late Night With Seth Meyers - General Discussion

I must've posted this in the wrong thread, sorry. So here it is. Sorry Seth, i'm sure you will go on (as if he reads this board). He'll be okay, and Closer Look is great, if he'll just stop thinking he's a great impressionist. :D -
I'm off topic here, but tho i like Seth's show, i find some of his behaviors kinda ... umm, odd. Like he has to hug everybody with his right arm high in the air like he's gonna strike them or something. He has no feel from one guest to the next whether it's a hug or a handshake or what, and always that arm straight up like a pole or something. He's so weird. But Closer Look is great. However another bad thing he does is he thinks he's the king of impersonation, and it's always the same voice. He loves doing tRump. And another thing he does is belittle the HELL out of his writers, especially picking on one or two guys. It's funny at first, but he makes it a habit, those writers should start feeling kind of intimidated by it all. Oh well, beats dead air, i guess. :)

If he shits on Guillermo, it's because he deserves it. And G doesn't mind anyhow, G doesn't give a shit about anything but that money from the show the last 17 years of his life, and tequila. Not to mention it's funny. That's part of why JK "shits" on him, because G is so selfish and self-centered. bah, G is a little punk, is all he is. i don't like him, he has little heart, very little empathy for others. But i watched the Kimmel show every night for past 10 years, so i'm kinda tuned in. Edit: I assumed above that you're talking about JK "shitting" on G, but maybe you meant Martin Short's guest host, and i have not seen that yet. So i just want to make sure i am not misunderstood here. But i stand by that JK pokes fun at Guillermo, or "shits" on him, wotev. But i will view Short's episode tonight and get back to ya. BTW, i'm not such a big Martin Short fan either. -

Nah, SC does it allatime. and Batiste and Cato only give a musical note about less than half the time. But again, SC does it throughout his monlogues, allatime, every time, constantly since he was on the Report. And nah, i don't need musical note, and i hypothesize that Batiste and Cato did not do it all the time, because they might think he over uses that gesture. It's a habit, I'm telling you, it is. -

Wow, Stephen's thread's huge, esp. compared to Jimmy Kimmels. I've been a fan of Stephen since he was a sr. correspondent on Daily Show. And i idolized him on the Colbert Report. But now, he's doing a good job on Late Show, but yanno, not everybody's got the "gift". Anyhow, i hate to criticize, but Stephen's got this odd habit of miming what ever object he's holding in his hand so as to appear to return the mimed object to it's original place. I first saw him doing it on his Report and it was quite funny, but he's STILL doing it. It's turning into some kind of neurotic tic or something. I respectfully and lovingly hope that some producer on his show points this out to him and corrective action ensues. GBU Stephen Colbert, you're the best! -

TY opus. Yeah, i finally viewed his last show. Next week's gonna be Martin Short and Steve Martin. Jimmy said he'll be back Labor Day. :( Then no more. And we'll all plummet into the the false reality of tRump and the rest of the idiocy that seems prophetic in nature. These are some of the worst times I've experienced in my life, yet all is seemingly, deceptively so, well. Boy do ppl on the right hate Jimmy. Whew. They love hate so much it seems like hate is all they live for. Shit, JK is funny, man. C'mon! -

Umm, have you tried clearing your history in your browser? I forget sometimes and sites will become sticky, and somebody'll tell me to clear history and it fixes it. Also, if you have any adblockers on the Kindle, you might enable primetimer dot com in that adblocker, I dunno. Jimmy's gone all next week, I have not seen his latest show from last week, so I imagine he announced that he's on his vacation, and will return in a couple months for his last year. :( At least he'll be around for tRump's first year when he gets elected. That is, unless tRump puts a hit on Jimmy. -

They wouldn't del my post for political content would they? This thread is political, Jimmy kimmel is political, his jokes are all bout trump. Are you still using that Kindle? You could check to see what your bandwidth speed is, by going to your ISP's web site, type bandwidth speed in it's search and it should lead u to a place to run a check. His show was great again with sean penn, june squibb (age 94, and bright, funny as heck), and musical group Avett Bros, fabulous song they sang. I never had seen them. He has the best shows, is the best host, bar none. -

I dig your comments, you have discernment. On blaming writers, Colbert does it enough so that it is funny, just poking fun at his writers. Meyers does it CONSTANTLY for years, and even has a regular segment, i forget what it's called, where he runs clips of writer's failed jokes. It Surprise Inspection, and he picks on one or two specifically so much that after a FEW YEARS of it, i began to feel badly for those writers he speaks to with such derision. Here's 8 minutes: I totally agree, i know it's a team effort, with the personality of the host coming through ultimately. But i think i can almost tell when it's the host's voice and when it's the writers'. I'm not gonna sit here in my laymen's garb and try to pretend that i'm some kind of talk show critic or some shit like that, but for some reason i've been watching these shows on TV since i was a little kid, and I always liked 'em a lot. From Jack Paar on up to Kimmel. I think that i feel informed while being entertained at the same time. I really thot Carson was king until i saw Letterman in the early 80s. But Kimmel is the ultimate best of them all, hands down, period. You would not think from his absurd background Kimmel'd be that guy, but in my well exposed estimation, he damn sure is. I watch all these talk shows, even Fallon's. Yanno, the thing about JK is he talks about himself more than any of them. Like he says when he was a kid he was well behaved and never caused any trouble. And it's verifiable because he's got so damn many of his relatives and buddies on the show (Cleto and Jimmy have been friends since grade school). So he says he was a perfectly behaved kid, wouldn't cheat on test scores, got good grades, wiki even says he was an alter boy, the whole bit. Then he'd go "Right Cleto?", then the camera'd pan to Cleto, leader of the Cleto and The Cletones) and Cleto'd say, "right, Jimmy." So you just know he's not bullshitting. I'm kinda obsessed here, huh? 😊 Hey, it's Primetimer.com, we're supposed to post about talk shows. And this thread is about Kimmel, and so...I mean i don't want somebody thinking the wrong thing here. I love 'em, i don't wanna have sex w/him, nor stock him or any bullshit like that. ALTHO, and this is a big altho: Ever since Jimmy talked about building his guest room that he complains that NOBODY will come and stay at, I have entertained the possibility of contacting him and taking the wife down to Cal and staying there (NOT HAPPENING). But i have talked to my wife about that notion. Again, it's absurd, I am not gonna do it. But boy if i was 10 or 15 years ago, heh, i might have, just to kick ol' Jimmy in da haid one time. I do, i just love the guy. And I'm proud to say it. I posted some comments to him in facebook a time or two, but yanno, i never expected him to read it, let alone reply or anything. The man is busy! Plus he is a damn superstar. Superstars do not meet with 75 year-old men of absolutely no import whatsoever. I don't expect that, it's absurd. I hate fanboys, yet with Kimmel, i am one. I should post a link to this thread in his facebook page. He might see it. Hell, he'd have us all on the show maybe. 🤣. Yanno, btw, the very LAST thing a private guy like me'd want is to be on anybody's fucking TV show, period. One time a few years ago, i was at a neighbor kid's junior f'ball game, that was televised on some local sports network, and i recorded the game, went home, played it, and there i was, fucking camera showing me for way too long. I'm wearing a sweatsuit hoody, and sunglasses, and damned if i didn't look like the Unibomber, so said my wife. I kept that on my dvr for years before I finally deleted it just last year. Okay, so I finally viewed the Kamala Harris show tonight. Damn good show. She's just so weird. I mean I like her, but gah, poor gal's just so strange. I mean i have this love/don't like biden/harris kinda thing going on. I will vote for them and will tell everybody i talk to to vote for them this November 5th. It's important to save our democracy and the world for that matter. And I think Biden, as i think i said above, is probably the best damn Pres we've had since Eisenhower. I mean it too! He has really had a rough administration to fill after tRump and all the freakin' wars, and just plain bullshit that's rained down on earth like the freakin' apocalypse. I mean what do we want from a president? Stability or civil freakin' war! And he's managed a million problems in just 3.5 years. Can you imagine what today'd be like if tRump had won? So God bless Kamala and Joe, pray for them and for our country. Jimmy did a good job, not his best, but a damn well prepped interview. BTW, Jimmy not at his best is probably better than just about anybody else can do with a political figure at their very best. Not Jake Tapper, not Anderson Cooper, not Lester Holt, not anybody else at their best can do what Jimmy can do interviewing ANYBODY. Not sure what the tree leaves have to do with it? Signal blocking or...? Anyhow, Uh...i should probably PM you about some alternatives. Let me know if interested and I'd be glad to find some for ya. You seem very deserving of watching these talk shows, so if i can help, i will. :) I don't have streaming capability. I have ethernet (wired), not wifi connection. My theory is wifi is so much more hackable than ethernet is, so that's how i roll. Also i don't have a smart phone, obviously, because i don't have wifi. Boy i talk too much. :( ttfn -

Belly Island HAHAHA, who saw this on Kimmel's show, I think it was Monday or Tues. Trump responds to question on oceans rising on Fox Weekend and says "It's great, it'll make more shore front property." Kimmel: "No, it'll be less. Like in your tub and your fat belly stick up like an island, and you clap hands for your servants to bring more water, and the water raises up and covers your Belly Island." I'm paraphrasing. Check it out. Damn who writes this stuff, well, it's gotta be Jimmy. Guy friggin' kills me. 🤣 -

Excellent, tho scary point. I have not seen that episode yet, it's recorded on the DVR, so we'll watch it, and then come back with my opinion on it. I mean she'd probly be okay, i'm sure. No where near as bad as any GOP could be. I wish Biden well, I don't like him that much, really. He's been in politics too damn long. But i maintain that he's been the best president we've had since Ike. Better than Obama even. His admin has had a hella lot to deal with, outside FDR who had it tougher? Lincoln, but he was not a modern era pres. I'm retired too. Can't you record programs that you wanna watch? I have a pretty extensive DVR recording regimen that I follow. I record colbert and kimmel at the same hour, then get the Daily Show on Mondays with Jon Stewart at 1:35 am, because otherwise Spectrum won't allow 3 recordings at the same time. Etc., etc. :) Hmm, a shapeshifter could be either a bro or a gramma...so how's a guy ta know? -

JK's man on the street interviews are hilarious. He shows us our own frailties, and our own stupidities, and his own doofieness as well. NOBODY is perfect, and that i think, is the message there. He treats everybody with respect. Look at his friends, i mean Guillermo? I don't like 'em too much, never did, but Jimmy's gotten me to kind of like even him. Or when Jimmy actually has Lindell on his show, and basically gives Lindell respect, in a rather disparaging way, like he can do, like nobody else can do. Yanno, on one of his shows a few years ago, before he died, he said that Paul Reubens (aka Peewee Herman) was one of his top three best friends. Now i dunno ... heck, we dunno none of these people, but he does. U just wouldn't think Peewee Herman or Guillermo would be a good friend of Jimmy or somebody like him. One time Jimmy's talkin' to Guillermo about visiting one another, and Jimmy asks Guillermo, "how many times have I been to your house?" Guillermo says, "oh, lots, Jimmy, lots of times." Jimmy then asks, "How many times have you been to my house?" Guillermo: "Never." NOT that he's NOT invited. Remember that time Jimmy talked about how he built a little guest house for ANYBODY to come visit him? And nobody ever did. Until that one cat, oh shit what's his name...i looked it up, John Mulaney. Mulaney had a little drug addiction problem, calls Jimmy, he was the first person to move in to Jimmy's guest house, and stayed for months, got clean and comes on Jimmy's show and is doing great. :) He says Jimmy'd give him money, check up on him, see if he needed anything, blah da blah. Tears me up right now just writing about it. God bless Jimmy! Oh, and think Mulaney's just funnier'n shit, btw. :) I didn't stray off topic did i? NAW. LMBO Oh jeeze me too bro. ALtho, in this board, i've just been pretty much tapping away on my keyboard like a nutcase that i am. Nice to hear back from ya. :) -

I don't remember GameNight, i probably should, sorry. I do remember his antics with the NCAA March Madness, where he just started claiming that Gonzaga is a fake team, and does not exist. I'm not sure how angry it made the people in Spokane (i hope they got it). That has been running for a good 5 or so years now. What a doofus, that boy Jimmy is. 😊 But, don't get me started on sports. GRRR>... Remember a couple years back he started the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LA_Bowl I'd have to do more searching to validate this, but Gronkowski stole the damn game away from Jimmy, I think. I will, and i'll get back to yas on this. I think he did, and if he did i'm gonna be mad. 😠 -

What a goof ball, ain't he? God love 'em. He's such a mensch, yanno. He looked like a total bumbling idjit tryin' to deal with that hawk. But he did as good and as common sensibly with the broom and the boid as I could or would have. So, wtf, yanno? I saw his show last night, i guess. Cuz we record him, and don't watch his show until the next night. So my dates are off unless i take the trouble to get them. I think it was the Don Whoreleone show. Heck, I posted the monologue from it. Damn good monologue. He said his writers had to catch up with tRump's verdict the night before. Damn he's good. Thorough, smart, funny as all heck. -

https://youtu.be/7sfRPosZ8CU Thanks SusieQ, shapeshifter, and possibilities. Finally a few fans of the fab Jimmy Kimmel. I agree with everything you all said, and thank you all for saying what I've been thinking about JK for the past ... wow, some 7 or 8 years now. It was before his son, BIlly's heart problems, and Jimmy's absolutely heartfelt response, tearfully wanting healthcare coverage for not him, (he said he could afford it) but those tears were for other people whose kids are also in medical need that goes untreated because of financial needs. I saw that and I teared up. But he was with it way before then. I suppose it was when Trump was campaigning in 2015 that I got on the Kimmel bandwagon. It took me that long. Yanno, Colbert's show started that same year. I knew it would not be anything like The Daily Show nor like The Colbert Report, which between Jon Stewart and Steven, i couldn't pick which I liked best. On the Colbert Report when Bush was pres Steven tore into that war criminal with gusto. I loved it. And Jon Stewart was even better. But yeah, that's when I became the big Colbert fan. And when his late night show started i knew it would be nothing like the Report. But i hoped against hope his show would still be close to as good, but disappointingly it's not. I still love Colbert, but he is no where near what he had going on the Report. So i had this online buddy from Ireland back when Colbert started his Late Night show, and we'd argue about who we liked better, me siding with Colbert and he picking Kimmel. Turned out w/in a year or so, I agreed with him. I hope he is well, he was a force to be reckoned with, talent and intelligence-wise. I have just a couple samples of his music, but he could play the best classical and rock guitar of anybody I ever knew in person. Yup, he knew talent, that ol' boy did. SusieQ, you are joking about a kindle, right? I didn't know that you could even use one online. But you're not joking about how Jimmy enjoys the guests, he brings out the best in every single one of them. He's interested in them. He is not intimidated by them, and brings them to us at eye level, shoulder to shoulder, and you see sides of his guests that you'd have never guessed possible on any other talk show. Not Carson, Parr, even Letterman couldn't really get there. It's a gift Jimmy has, Carson has some, Letterman may have had a touch more than Carson. There's another old timer who's still with us, but he's very old nowadays, the great Dick Cavett. He might've had more of a the talk show host talent for relating to people than any of them along with Jimmy. It's a special talent that kind of goes unnoticed due to the glitz and glitter of the actual shows and their guests and performers themselves. So we are kind of blinded to the actual talent of the host/interviewer. Cavett interviewed Ali, Hendrix, there's footage of him sparring in the ring with Ali, even. He had political figures, the entire gamut of celebs and public figures. And he showed that heart, that talent that's unmatched by most of the talk show hosts. Okay, dammit, i've far exceeded TLDR for this post. But I really hope it can get a bit more attention to Kimmel. Because he's leaving in about a year, and then who we got to give us the real picture of reality? I know, I'm alone here (no, really, I am, totally alone, isn't that obvious?) in my fervor for the Jimmy but hey, wth, we only got the now to do or say anything, and I'm saying it. I will be back. Thank you again for posting SusieQ, shapeshifter, and possibilities and the rest of you. I'll be back. :) -

I just praise and thank God that Jimmy's little boy Billy, made it through his heart surgery yesterday. Did anybody see the clip of when they got home from hospital and there's a freakin' hawk in Jimmy's kitchen and they got vid of Jimmy trying to broom the bird out of the kitchen. The hawk finally left, but there's a lot more to that story. I just love Jimmy. He's the best! God bless him and his family. :) -
