I really like octopus, but I no longer eat them exactly for this reason.

Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

Me, too! Odd choice for the producers to use this very familiar name. Except that all those drawings look the same. I think they just talk through their ideas, and the show's artist draws them up. Or the artist draws them after the bake is over and bases them on what the baker intended to do as opposed to what actually turned out. It's all edited together to confuse the timeline. -
I thought the daughters were Jim's and Sritala's. ?

As my sister said, at least Chelsea got her last donut.

Duff said that cooking the mango is probably what did it. It's like avocados; they taste nasty when cooked. It's more down to her not tasting every component. I did love her decorations though. Very clean. Very cuckoo. Corey, on the other hand, made a very Spring-y clock with tulips and roses all in pink, but no-way no-how was that a space age clock. Ditto. That was embarassing. -
Exactly what I said when I saw it sitting there. Even if the parallels aren't perfect, the callback was explicit. I think Belinda was as naive as Pornchai if she thought super-flake Tonya was dependable in any way. So, Belinda loses a lot of points with me. Didn't I say this after like the second episode? Waaaaay too set up, as was Chelsea's "bad things come in threes" prediction.

My memory of that scene is that she's moving fast, glances at the table with the jewelry, but doesn't really stop moving towards the window. She certainly didn't have anything shiny and gold in her hands as she was clinging to that window sill.

Except that was in episode six. Arnold was talking about episode five. I agree episode six was the one, as a parent, where I would be covering my eyes.

Ah, Saxon, stay as shallow as ever! I wanna be a Buddhist (no, I just wanna get in your pants). Dad, why are you such a mess (and why are you destroying my career?). Never change (and, reader, he won't). It was pretty obvious from the very beginning who the robbers were. Duh, obviously Valentin was their inside source. I'm surprised it took Gaitok so long, but then how long has it taken him to realize what a materialistic little schemer Mook is? I feel for Belinda, but she played it badly from the beginning. She should have ignored Greg/Gary as much as she possibly could and claim she didn't remember him although she did remember Tanya, of course. Sympathetic noises etc. I just want Timothy to sh*t or get off the pot. Either come clean or kill yourself or kill everybody and then kill yourself. This moping around is boring. Piper wanted to be the special little Buddhist snowflake in the family, but now Dad and Lochlan and even Saxon are showing inclinations toward Buddhism, it's no longer her special thing. I think whoever upthread said Lochlan will stay and Piper will leave is right (or should be). Victoria? I don't know if anything can pry her out of her drug/alcohol infused bubble, but who knows? I want Rick and Chelsea to go happily off into the sunset. Chloe can get kicked out of the villa on her bony ass, and I won't care. She'll find another old rich bald guy to hook up with soon enough. Alexei.

Yes! I forgot to mention him breaking the glass all over Henry's station.

They (actually one guy -- for decades) threw the octopus because it has eight legs, and before expansion in the 60s, it took eight wins to win the Stanley Cup. The tradition started in the 40s or 50s, so it was around a while. Unpopular opinion, but Massimo was working my last nerve in this episode. He basically copied the patty he tasted, but didn't include anything other than the oxtail. And it was ground into so smooth a paste it looked disgusting. Seriously made me want to barf. The rest of the episode he was a try-too-hard look-at-me smirking jerk. He's the only chef left I want eliminated. I was so sad every component of Anya's dish was a failure. Once again, all the the first chefs eliminated are women.

I personally don't like no-bake cheesecake. It's not cheesecake -- it's a weird jell-o like approximation. I give props to both Julien and Lisa for baking theirs. It's just with their excruciatingly short time limits, they both handicapped themselves. I'm glad they both survived. I like them both. -

Exactly what I said when I first saw it. She seemed very low energy. Like she knew she was out of her league. Maybe he should have trained with humans instead of elves. 😁 I'm so over these obvious lesser talents being over-praised on one aspect of the bake when other aspects are worse than most of the kids in the Kids Baking show. It doesn't make me feel better about the kind-hearted judges (ha!); it just makes me think they're mentally challenged. Can't they see how horrible his tower looked? We at home can't taste the desserts to challenge the judges on that, but, dang, we can sure see!- 3.1k replies

Also, this is the episode that Arnold said he had to watch through his fingers. I was expecting something really extreme. After watching it, I said "Seriously???" Must be a strong current of homophobia running in that family.

I've been in the hospital twice in the last five months, and all the food I had looked (and I'm sure tasted) much better than Mimi's dish. The only issue was the low/no salt menu they made me choose from.

Not too much to add, but every time I saw Bailey I wanted to grab her shoulders and tell her to stand up straight! She walked around all hunched over like an 80 year old grandma.

I don't dislike him, but he leaves me cold. Physically, I find him kind of scary-looking. His teeth and jaw look so carnivorous. And Duff has much better dad jokes on Kids Baking. -
Yeah, I thought that from the time the robbery occured. Valentin was the distraction that allowed Gaitok to ignore the motorcycles zooming in to do the robbery. I don't think Valentin is innocent at all.

I really don't think Priya looks all that much like Mindy Kaling. Yes, they're both South Asian women, and Priya wears her hair in a style that Mindy wore for a while. But her voice occasionally drifted into imitation, and it very mildly annoyed me. If I ever ran into her on the street, I'd never confuse her with MK. Yeah, I get tired of the judges liking a chef (looking at you, Kareem) and giving them break after break and tons of hints and basic instructions. Just cut the dead wood. Besides his Quick Fire (whatever) bake looked like a toilet. Once I saw it, I couldn't un-see it. Mary Frances didn't annoy me that much, but I don't think she's going to last long. I was scared for Jamie, because I like her. Who's the other short woman? I like her, too, and her pie looked yummy to me. So, is there such a thing as a "Honey Pie?" Yeah, there are pies made with honey, but I've never heard of a honey pie, per se. This whole season is looking like it's going to be excessively and aggresively twee. Not my thing. At least, Nancy was not as objectionable (to me) as she can be in this episode. Hopefully, that's a trend that continues. -
Walton, not Walter. Though I agree Walter scans much better. Walton Goggins is kind of a clunky name. As in a previous post, I used to think this, too, until I found out that they often do.

Oo oo oo! Maybe the rich hotel owner is Rick's father. He "disappeared" into the rich guy persona and rejected his former do-goodery.

What are the population numbers in the red areas vs. the blue areas?

Leslie Bibb was not terribly coherent in the beginning part of that interview. Carrie c**** was great -- very insightful and intelligent. I noticed that, too, and had the same thought. Also, when she did that full body stretch on that pool lounger, she looked like a skeleton. I know you have to be super skinny to be a model, but I just cringe looking at her. Moi aussi. So thanks from me, too.

It was couture. Valentino. I saw the name and wondered if it was a reference to Valentin.

I saw Mary McFadden interviewed decades ago, and she said she had her hair trimmed every week. My natural hair is much closer to Carries'. Just a little curlier. I wised up in my senior years and went natural. It was probably the pants they objected to, not the length. I liked the dress Piper wore on the boat...looked like vintage Victoriana.
