They say it specifically happens whenever people pass thru their front yard, which sounds like it's within range of their home Wi-Fi and not the network, which comes from a cell tower.

Doesn't their home Wi-Fi have a password?  A really hard password?  Then you only share if you've given them the password.

    Otherwise, you're Starbucks.

I love when they let Miss Barbara build up a full head of steam and then turn her loose. "I will NOT use two-step authentication."

And in true Miss Barbara form, she got it wrong.  Two Factor Authentication!

There is a bit of a disconnect between the way lots of people, me included, are just fine with loads of people being killed but not animals.  I'm reminded of the bit in Independence day where the aliens kill millions of people with their initial attack, but not Will Smith's dog.

I fairness I think this is because people have agency where as animals don't, they can't make the same moral choices that we can. So although in the cold light of day we might  see this view of animals as irrational, i think it's also a compassionate one, and a sign of empathy.

If you guys want to mourn the horse more than the people go ahead.  But I'm going to point out that no one seems to be mourning the dead deer.  You seem to pick certain animals (dogs, cats, and horses) to mourn and not worry so much about others (deer, cows, squirrels, hares, etc.).

As to why David's group was having trouble hunting - animal populations go through big swings and it may be that this is a winter when the mammal population is way down.  You can watch a season of Alone as a demonstration of how hard it is to fish during the winter without the modern conveniences needed for ice fishing.

In retrospect, it was odd that David wasn't going to bury the guy right away.  What were they going to do with the corpse for months?

Put him in a box in an unheated building.  It's a plot point in Lonesome Dove.

The real insanity is both David and Joel being out in those conditions without a hat!  One of the other guys was wearing two.

  5. No, it was Matt, I think.  The dark haired sk8ter boi.

I just watched the ending and as soon as Kieran was banished, I hoped that Hannah would pick up on what he was trying to tell them.  And she did.

Much more satisfying ending than the US version.  I hope they keep celebrities out of all the subsequent seasons.  Except Ryan Lochte - he should come back every year.

I actually always enjoy JAJ's Trump impression. He's so good at it. My favorite line in this CO was right after he talked about Rhianna he immediately said, "But your train exploded." As far as the jury foreperson, I was kinda uncomfortable with the show making fun of this woman. I admit I haven't seen any video of her, just a photo and article with quotes from her, so I don't know how accurate the impression was. What was the thing she said twice? It seemed very random. (Sorry, I can't remember exactly what it was.)

The monologue. Oy. I was confused. Was it supposed to be a shaggy dog story, i.e., long-winded and not terribly funny? Also, when he first referenced something happening the Sunday after he last hosted, what was he talking about? The audience seemed to know, so I assume I'm either out of the loop or just forgot whatever it was. And I didn't realize he was an anti-vaxxer, so when he talked about the movie plot (a real movie plot?) I was kind of shocked.

JAJ's Trump is the best.  The jury foreman has been interviewed on TV - I can only assume that the impression was based off of that.

The monologue was definitely supposed to be a shaggy dog story with the implication that he was extending it so they could show up with the 5 timers jacket.  The part about the Sunday after he last hosted was funny - the show is always on Saturday so of course the next day is Sunday.

I actually walked out on the Cologuard commercial thinking that it was a real commercial. Oh well....

Don't love any of those teams. Ty gives me a headache. And until I hear differently, there's always a risk that Alison could show up as a judge. Might have to pass.

They are actually showing Alison in the previews (saying something about bar stools) so she'll be there.

  8. Flagg was dead wrong about what he said to Tracy's daughter, but he also assaulted Tracy herself 10 seconds before that.  Holding someone down and trying to kiss them, while they are saying no, is not all right.  He needs to apologize for that as well.

If Heather wants to go to the sites, she has to say so.  Several people asked if she was going and she said no each time.

It was that shallow teacher from the other school (Addison?) that Jacob had been hanging out with.  She spent the night with another teacher.

No - she hooked up with the front desk clerk.

Regarding the kiss - I've been figuring that the writers were going to make Gregory principal (Ava breaks her leg?) and then he and Jeannine can't get together because he is her boss.

Janine was looking mighty cute in that blue outfit and white boots.  I would have tried to kiss her, too, Gregory!

It was good to see the gang in a different context.  What happens in Allentown, stays in Allentown, I guess.  Jakob's game night was particularly good.

Me:  where's her old lady clothes?

  11. I thought the Galley Talk people were critical of Sandy with the notable exception of Aisha and Kyle who were the only ones who have worked as stews under Sandy.

I think Alissa's getting a reprimand, not fired.  After giving Camille several chances to improve, she deserves a second chance.

  12. I saw a total blooper last night on a PBS cooking show called "How she rolls" about a woman who has a dinner roll business.  She goes to visit her aunt to learn how to make her famous oyster pie.  The aunt makes the thing, puts it in a white rectangular  CorningWare (with the little blue design) casserole dish and puts that in the oven to bake.  They go away to wait, the alarm goes off, and they return to take from the same oven a round clear glass casserole dish filled with the pie.  Did production think no one would notice?

I (internet) know some of the genetic genealogist who work for the various shows. Before genetic genealogy blew up, it was a small hobby and everyone using it were in the same online groups and virtually nobodies (Cece Moore and Nicka Smith to name a few). We all knew each other. Anyway, they said the show vets celebrities by trying to do their paper genealogy before they even come on the shows to see if they can get anywhere. If they can’t, they will not ask them to appear. Now some celebrities have reached out to the shows.

    Yes, I do think that.

  14. I'd much rather watch geneology shows than those comic book shows (Marvel Universe?).  You get a little history with your prurient celebrity moments.

As someone mentioned above, with the firepower the shows can employ, particularly for African Americans, they can go back further onto people's family trees than most people can searching on their own.  And sometimes what they turn up is fascinating.

Gates did a show with Questlove.  They discovered that his first African ancestor in America was brought over on the Clotilda, the last slave ship, in 1860.

I've noticed that so many of these luxury houses have large ass wine rooms.

This feels like the modern day version of wet bars and fondue parties.

I've never been able to get into wine, but it's crazy how many of these houses have wine rooms or wine fridges. I always think to myself "So many better ways to use that space. Like maybe a larger theater or even a bigger gym." To me, those are more useful add-ons.

In homes on the East Coast belonging to rich people, there usually is a wine cellar.  In California, cellars are very rare because of the earthquake potential.  So, the rich people out here build wine rooms.

I'd much rather have a climate-controlled wine room than a gaming room.  Everyone's tastes are different.

  16. I hope she's at home now enjoying doublestuff oreos and ice cream.  Or half an orange.

I applaud the show for casting lots of mature actors, but some of them are so thin that you wonder how they can still walk.
