Oh VK will be back, but she did shock us all in 2021 when she took a year off. I can't say any rookie would be a wild card - there has always been a one and done since the incarnation of the show. All rookies returning and making it would be breaking the trend - so I guess that would be the surprise! My wildcard vote is Armani, but I am still surprised by the Marissa injury.

Here is the new chart, updated with Madeline S. and Kylie as returning. Credit to AYTOL_ on reddit. So who is your wildcard retiree? I fully expect Ashlinn, Jensen, Amanda, Kally, and likely Darian and Kelee to re-audition. This leaves Armani, Jada, Rebecca, Kali, Kayla, and Zhenya. I could be way off- there always seems to be a surprise, but the surprise this year was Marissa's injury.

1st Leaders: Kelcey, Claire, Chandi, McKenzie 2nd Leaders: Armani, Dani, Victoria, Darian Almost all these DCC are bound to retire in 2024. Victoria may come back for year 5, and maybe Claire. It will be interesting to see how that plays out in leadership selection for 2023. I think it is possible they will bypass seniority and choose a 3rd year like Tori or KD, who would be more likely to return for future seasons. As for potential TCCs. I thought Mel Parker had missed her chance, but she is looking really good in her clips posted on SM. She will be a strong contender if she auditions and they choose to actually give her a fair chance. As always, they will focus on shiny new people though. It will be a tough audition season all around. There is always one rookie that doesn't return, heartbreaking if it ends up being a cut 😥

Confirmed retirements (or injury): Ashlee, Caroline, Tyra, and Marissa Expected to retire: Jalyn and Kat Kat did post something like "last year, best year" but never officially confirmed she was retiring. Jalyn hasn't posted anything but was in a group photo with only retiring DCC so it is assumed this is her last year. Nearly every other DCC not mentioned is expected to return. It will be a small retiring class this year. No news on a show, unfortunately.

I think Jessica would be a great group leader, but being point of their group will lower her chances - Marissa, Armani, and Dani seem like the strongest choices. I am not ready to see Victoria as point of anything, this past season was... odd. Elli has got the power pom style down to a tee, but IMO she works best to the side of a point. I personally think Darian is under-utilized, she should of had McKenzie's spot in the formations last year. I haven't seen Darian post anything that indicates she is going to re-audition though - this next season would be I think her 8th year as a pro cheerleader. She isn't one to post a lot of DCC stuff though on her IG stories, which adds to her mystery. DCC social media has utilized KayDianna, Victoria, and McKenzie (also Kelcey for obvious reasons) this past winter. I could see them giving KD 2nd group leader over more senior vets. I think there is some truth in the ones that they use over and over (think Maddie, Rachel W., Lexie, Gina) end up with the earliest and highest accolades like point, GLs 1/2 by year 3, and choice positions in the triangle. I thought Tori would follow this path, but maybe not.

Tyra seemed a bit checked out her second year, but on the other hand, I respect those that do it well but don't feel the need to stay and let DCC world consume their entire life for 4-5 years.

I think it is true if they are posting a lot on instragram stories about working out, or tagging DCC sponsers - like tanning or teeth etc. they are pretty much gearing up for audition season and will be re-auditioning. Two years ago, the lack of posts on Amanda Dilks social media was a huge clue to me that some discontent was brewing there and she would not be back for a 3rd year. She came back to re-audition (despite my prediction) but then exited training camp fairly early, vax or no vax, you could tell she was conflicted about something. There are a handful of DCC, however, that rarely use social media, so they remain a question mark. Kelee is one example that rarely posts any stories etc.

All Past Seasons of the Late Lamented Show

I think they really liked Rachel Buckmaster and wanted to see her again hoping she had improved. Kat Dunn was only given a 2nd chance for the show. I am sure the producers were 100% behind her getting selected. The cut 3 vets, but still chose her. She was beautiful and expressive and a reality show casting agent's dream. "It's a gift," like Kelli said. -
I wonder how bad this really was? Tara stayed in Dallas when she was cut. I found that surprising since her entire life up to that point was east coast. She must of had enough positive experiences to make her want to stay in Texas. Then she kept dancing and improved in both hip hop and her physical appearance. She was close enough with DCC Simone to be in her wedding and is now BFFs with Jenna. Although it is possible those friendships really solidified once they were all dancing for the Mavericks. I just think if she were really outcast by her teammates she would of hightailed it back to her former life in Jersey. Edit: But I do think those old frienships understandably fell apart after she was no longer on the team - different paths etc.

All Past Seasons of the Late Lamented Show

In season 7 Chelsea was a major kiss ass and got an eye-rolling amount of air time, but I never minded her in season 8. At least she had personality and a sense of humor. "The fatties are still on the team" was just her trying to get her crying teammates to laugh, none who even showed any weight gain? It all seems contrived by the show and Kitty was their go to person to make some sort of drama happen. I have no doubt the producers put Kitty up to going back to K&J to report that Chelsea was being "toxic" in the locker room. Considering Chelsea was struggling dance-wise, it was a win win for TPTB - cut her, but find a way to make it a dramatic and entertaining storyline. They didn't give a damn back then what reality tv did to these gals after the show aired - Carla, Vivian, Chelsea, they were all collateral damage to get their tv show plot.
