  1. Interesting interaction between Liz and Anna - Liz seems to have taken Charlotte's story as utter truth, so Valentin should give her the whole story. As statsgirl pointed out, Liz's son is very into Charlotte, so Liz's family could become entwined in the mess that is sure to come.

That being said, even if Liz believes Charlotte's story, it isn't her place to lecture Anna. Just getting her out of the room and telling her that the patient can't be disturbed would be the professional way to handle it. After that, maybe put a restriction on visitors and have more than one person at the nurse's station / town square.

But there a lot of viewers who feel exactly like she does on these topics.   Whoopi helps us feel seen 🙂.

I personally don't want her to pretend she understands or is interested in topics geared to a younger pop culture demographic.   Women of a certain age just aren't interested in who's dating who....

However, most of us are not being paid to participate in these discussions. Even at work, when a conversation ventured into areas that didn't interest me, I at least refrained from rolling my eyes and acting like a bored child. Of course, I had the option to leave, but in the interest of being polite and getting along with my coworkers, I could follow the discussion to a certain extent, although I didn't have any particular input to share.

The hosts should be able to offer input and suggestions prior to the show, and the viewers can also offer feedback about the topics covered. If enough people say they aren't interested, it should give the producers something to think about.

  3. I think Whoopi must be a handful to deal with as an employee. She's told by management (and it is very apparent to the viewers) that she doesn't seem engaged enough throughout the entire (1 hour!) show, so she tells the audience that she'll be more "interested", thus undermining the effort. She's a performer and actress, for crying out loud - her job is to convey feelings that she doesn't actually feel. This shouldn't be difficult; it isn't like breaking rocks, after all. If she can't do that convincingly for 1 hour a day, she doesn't deserve that much lauded EGOT. I'll bet someone would love to fire her in favor of someone else, but there's likely a contractual/financial reason they have to stick with her.

I was surprised at how little mention was made of the death of Rosalynn Carter. For a group that can talk about vapid reality show people for whole segments, they had pretty much nothing to say about Rosalynn who was an exceptional person and First Lady.

  4. GH is continuing to contribute to the financial ignorance of viewers. I'm no business genius, but you'd think companies like ELQ and Aurora would at least have structures in place to handle situations like when the CEO has amnesia or is MIA or takes months off to handle personal matters - usually there is a person who is designated as a replacement (temporary, of course) so the company doesn't just drift in the absence of a responsible leader. Who knows what kind of shenanigans could happen if no one is steering the boat? Making it seem that Drew and Michael have had time to develop and implement actual plans for the company in Ned's (relatively brief) absence while they have both been consumed with other things requires a huge suspension of belief. Soap opera businesses routinely operate in a fantasy bubble, but this is harder to believe than most.

Hey Nina, sell your hotel half back at double what you paid for it.

I'm confused about Charlotte.   Is she trying to make Jake believe that Anna maliciously shot her, or does she really believe it?

I agree that Nina should do that, but she probably won't.

I think Charlotte is building a story that Anna meant to shoot her, not a threatening intruder. All part of Victor's brainwashing, I suppose. According to the letter (and whatever other triggering objects Victor supplied) Anna is dangerous to Valentin and must be destroyed (at least I think that last part is the case). So, this shooting, while unintentional, is great for selling that story.

  6. Anna telling (off the record) about Charlotte: what do you want to bet that Valentin denies everything if questioned by Dante and Jordan?

Drew and Michael decide to go back to taking over ELQ? Worked so well before, why not try it again? What will Ned do when he gets into the office?

  7. It seems that there are more than a few characters (Charlotte, Spencer, Sasha, Joss's study-buddy, etc.) that could use a good therapist. Kevin should be recruiting assistants, because he should be very busy! Maybe TJ could put his psychology training to good use (except he probably needs it himself to deal with his kidnapping trauma).

  8. Yesterday's episode: What a crock story Charlotte told. She found the key, went to the apartment, let herself in to return it? Who does that? Even if you decide to let yourself in, you don't turn on any lights? You don't sit down on the couch and wait for the person to return? More obviously, you don't call them to tell them you found the keys? At least Valentin doesn't believe her; he knows she's lying. Question is, will anyone else be skeptical?

  9. Monday's show: Congrats Charlotte - you've probably achieved your objective of breaking up Valentin and Anna. TBH, I think when Anna looks back on this*, she may feel that it is for the best because dealing with someone else's troubled kid is a lot of work, especially if you are the focus of her animosity.

In the meantime, of course, there will be a lot of self-recrimination. Anna, of course, and also Valentin, who really should have shared the information about Charlotte's vandalism with Anna before this.

Anna shouldn't keep acting as if she could possibly know it was Charlotte or that she did it with deliberate intent to kill "a child". An intruder in your house after you've been threatened with violence (by some unknown person) is a reasonable cause for action.

    * Assuming Charlotte makes it, which I think she will. It should be a learning experience for other kids, though - you may put yourself in harm's way when you go places that you shouldn't.

  10. TikTok: Whoopi compares distrust of TikTok with the previous generation's dislike of rock and roll, but those things are not comparable. Opposition to rock and roll was based more in cultural norms and expectations of how young people should behave, and I think the distrust of TikTok is more of a security concern that the company is passing user data to the Chinese Communist Party and engaging in privacy violations. TikTok denies this, but what else would they say.

Discussion about visualizing goals: I think what Sunny said is similar to the old proverb, "God helps those who help themselves"; you can pray for something, but you shouldn't expect a higher power to just deliver it without any effort on your part.

you aren't allowed to contradict the all-wise whoopi and get away with it

She criticized doctors who "don't know how a woman's body works" while demonstrating that she isn't that conversant with how it works either. If she didn't always adopt the attitude that she knows it all, her lack of knowledge could work to expand the interview to reflect the questions that many women have.

That tends to happen a lot.  Probably because they are afraid she will get mad. Which has happened before.  Remember when they tried to correct her when she said the Holocaust wasn't about race? If she had just said oh OK my bad she wouldn't have gotten in trouble.

The problem is that if they don't correct her, this misinformation undercuts the legitimate information contained in the documentary. I understand the guest being polite and not contradicting the story, but if your goal is to get the topic taken seriously at all levels, you'd want the right info to be the last thing viewers hear.

  13. I felt that Whoopi's personal experience that she related during the endometriosis discussion confused rather than illuminated. I'm not expert in this topic, but it seemed to me that she conflated endometriosis, UTI, and yeast infection and suggested that endometriosis could be had "one time" and cleared up with antibiotics.  I've known people who suffered with endometriosis, and I'm sure if a course of antibiotics would have cleared it up, they would have been ecstatic.

  14. I'm about a week behind in episodes, so I just saw where TJ recognized Mason as his kidnapper and went to his mom to see about taking legal steps. My thought was, isn't TJ's wife/domestic partner a lawyer? Shouldn't he have talked to Molly about this? Get feedback from someone who actually works in the district attorney's office? At the minimum, sharing his trauma with the person he loves and lives with? The logic of some of these characters escapes me.

Nina really should just confess to her non-crime and whatever happens happens.  Living under Michael's thumb will be torturous.

Right? You'd think after putting up with Michael's hypocrisy for so long, Nina would just say "Screw it! I'll tell you what I did myself. Remember, an 'investigation' won't go anywhere if there's nothing to find. And there was something to find, so guess what - Drew and Carly are guilty."

  16. Did I hear Sunny correctly? I think she said that only now is the history of conflict in the Middle East being shared. Obviously, that's not accurate - for years there have been summaries of the issues available. The thing is that after a particular crisis passes, people forget, especially those of us who don't live in that area and don't have to deal with the problems in our daily lives. It is a good time to educate (re-educate) ourselves on the topic although it is complex and confusing.

I also read Jada's book and while I won't say it changed my opinion of her it made me think Will is even a bigger ass.  And funny enough when I read his book last year it made me have a more negative opinion of Jada.

I haven't read either of the books, but it seems odd (and sad) that each spouse's book ends up making their partner look bad, and they are still married!  Usually, the negative stories are told about exes, not the current partner. This may be one of those cases where they both should just keep their thoughts to themselves.

  18. I can't recall who said it but does anyone think that no one told Sheila Jackson Lee on their way out that they were leaving because of her behavior. Granted that a lot of people won't "burn bridges" when they leave because they may need some kind of reference in the future, but there are always a few folks who really don't care and will tell their boss off. At the minimum, there's usually an exit interview or form where the employee can complain in more polite terms.

The Outlander universe is very, very small.  It seems guaranteed that the cousins will see each other again.

Haha! So small... I am amazed in fiction how many times people "come across" relatives and acquaintances (look at Lonesome Dove, for example). In my real life, when I visit my home state (RI) I hardly ever see anyone I know if it isn't on purpose, and that is the smallest state in the union! :-)

I also found it awkward how Laura brought up her teenage past without mentioning that time she accidentally(?) murdered someone.

Maybe she didn't want to "normalize" murder for Charlotte. She doesn't want Charlotte to think, "If Grandma did it and she's ok, then maybe it wouldn't be too bad; after all, I'm sure I'm smarter than Grandma, I probably wouldn't even get caught".

  21. Why would Gregory think that Alexis was "masterful"? That interview/gotcha could have been  done better by a high school kid. Alexis practically blackmailing the judge to get Drew out of jail was the least subtle thing I've seen on TV that wasn't an SNL skit. Is her argument supposed to be "Well, we know you're corrupt, so here's another corrupt thing for you to do so we won't tell everyone that you're corrupt"? When people do this kind of thing successfully, they typically have at least a little finesse - Alexis's way is like trying to catch a fish by madly grabbing at them instead of using a lure.

  22. Is it me, or does it seem odd that Trina and Spencer argue about Ace/Esme instead of having a reasonable talk about it? Trina and Spencer are really kind of a "new" couple, so shouldn't they be still very considerate of each other instead of taking such hard positions? Is this meant to be the straw that breaks the camel's back in this relationship?

  23. Nathan Lane and Bowen Yang were delightful! I wish they had been on longer.

Poor Linda Evangelista - she's had such terrible experiences with surgery of any kind! The initial breast cancer lumpectomy turning into double mastectomy is so awful. I've been told that DCIS treatment is less debilitating than more extensive breast cancers (and my personal experience bears this out) so it is horrifying that she ended up with such a radical result.

LOL at Dante leaving it up to the victim to bag her clothes at some point. "Yeah, I just left my clothes upstairs. Those extra carpet fibers and crayon shavings aren't going to be a problem, are they?"

Forget forensics and chain of evidence! Ava has to get to Carly's house! Sheesh, I'm surprised anyone in Port Charles gets convicted of anything* with this kind of kindergarten policing.

*Those who are convicted should see their lawyers immediately to talk about how they were wrongly accused and convicted.
