Instead of so much dizzying walk-and-talk from the actors, I would have appreciated revisiting some of the iconic scenes from the past 60 years.  Apart from the Luke and Laura wedding, we didn’t get that.  Why have a prime time special where you don’t try to show viewers why they should watch you?

    This.

I was disappointed. The show's been on for 60 years, but we didn't see that history reflected in the clips. There was no need for the Donna Mills-Morgan Fairchild skit and intro. Maybe a better brief introduction to the special should have been done by someone with a stronger association with the show like, I dunno, a longtime actor or even the producer? So much time was spent on "name" celebrities when (IMO) it would have been better to show more of the show's history. I'll forgive them a little bit for the celebration of the fans in Kelly's, but even that was just a setup for what's her name to come out, since no fan actually got to ask a question. If this program had writers produce a script, it just shows how creatively bankrupt they are.

ETA: I rewatched that bit. When Danish looks at his phone, it's a list of Favorites. Lorraine is listed four times -- She must have 4 different numbers. So he wasn't ignoring her calls. He apparently decided not to call her about this. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

Also, I wondered why Witt told Danish about Dot being at the ranch, suggesting that Danish do something about it. Witt knows how dangerous Roy and his men are, so why throw Danish into the lion's den? Did Witt simply think that a lawyer would have more power than a lawman like himself? I thought Witt was pretty smart, but this doesn't seem very smart.

IMO, I don't think Danish originally had any intention of confronting Roy after the debate -- he was at the gas station, getting ready to leave town. Then the state trooper told him that A) Dot was at the compound, and B) Something needed to be done . . . quickly. He did get his phone out, them he made kind of a face, and I interpreted that as deciding, if things were as dire as the state trooper said, that he should forget his original plan to leave and go out to the ranch instead.

However, I don't know what he could have done that would have prevented his being killed. Any mention of Dot/Nadine would have signed his death warrant.

    Called it.

Have to say, of all the people harping about reporting a crime being worse than the crime, I can see how Sonny as a mobster, would see “the ratting” as a non-negotiable offense.

Although, and ironically,  by his very use of the word, he's acknowledging that the "rattees" did something wrong.

How come nobody's at the Savoy?? On New Year's Eve?? Even if it's already past midnight in that portion of Port Charles, there should either be some partiers around or some staff trying to clean up.

  4. My take is that the audience knows that Cyrus has had no religious redemption, but in order to maintain the appearance that he has to the folks in Port Charles, he has to have Nina confess to Sonny. That way, Sonny can be hurt, but Cyrus can't be blamed.

Oh, Ned. You had a chance to blow Michael out of the water and you didn't take it.

I'm really disappointed that he didn't say, out loud, where everyone could hear it, what we've been saying: that Insider Trading is illegal, and that was why Drew went to prison.

It cracked me up when Sasha told Cody that Felicia was a great private investigator. I was thinking, "If she's so great at it, why isn't she still doing that instead on her new plot-point career?"

You've got to remember who she's being compared to -- Sam? Curtis? Spinelli? "Great" in Port Chuck has no relationship to "great" in the rest of the universe. 😉

Near the end of the episode, did anyone else hear the nurse call Dot/Nadine, "Linda"?   Wondering if Roy identified her as such.  Or if I was just sleepy and heard things in my confusion.

I thought she called her Linda, too.

I was also puzzled when Dot was talking about her husband, Wayne, and the nurse didn't correct her. I can't imagine Roy introducing himself with  anything other than his full name and title as a way of asserting authority in any situation, and the nurse said they had to track down who Dot was, so she should have picked up on the different husband's name.

FWIW, I'm putting this as a spoiler, it's an article with  the writers talking about the episode.

  8. II's still an assumption, although a logical one, that Roy is the one who beat her. It could be that she left whoever was beating her and was taken in (in a couple senses) by Roy.

Also, I thought Indira got the files from the FBI agents when they were trying to convince her to help them. I've watched enough Law and Order to know that frequently those guys only share information when it suits them and put a lid on things they don't want people to know.

Or find out where Munch is living and ambush him there.

Ooooh, I like this! Munch was wearing what appeared to be the old woman's coat. It's not hard for me to imagine Gator seeing someone wearing the coat and . . .

I was sure that the device Gator put on Munch's car was a tracking device, but now you guys are making me think it might be an explosive device. But I'm still leaning toward a tracker. After all, it wouldn't work remotely unless Gator were fairly close by. So I still think it's a tracker.

Either way, I don't think he's doing it with Roy's knowledge. Roy  told Gator to wait in the car, not by Munch's car. I imagine that whatever plan he has to get in Roy's good graces will backfire spectacularly.

*ETA: If it's a bomb, maybe it'll blow up Indira's husband.

Relieved? If I am remembering correctly, the Doctor that had 14’s face wanted to mate with Donna!  😄

IIRC, I think he clarified that he wanted a mate, a friend, because Donna heard mate in a different sense.

  12. In the first episode, Nadine told the cop, "This isn't my first escape." That led me to think that it wasn't her second one, either. I've been wondering if she ended up with Roy because she had left something terrible. It's not inconceivable to think that, at first,  she would have seen Roy's place as  safe (or maybe just safer).

  13. I guess Sandy is worried about her TV image so her "talking to" Lily was pretty bland, IMO. If I were Lily, I'm not sure I'd understand how rocky my position was, since she was never told what Sandy expected of her; she was just asked if she thought she could do the job.

And when Sandy was mad at Luka, I kept wondering if he was ever told what the duties of a bosun were after he was given the job with no real preparation.

And finally, during the first charter, things went fairly smoothly when they were down two stews.  Why is there so much trouble now?

Violet calling the shots and running everyone is crazy

At least she was told "at the reception, if not the wedding".

All I could think when Dante made such a big deal of putting on gloves before examining "the evidence" was that his fingerprints were all over the safe deposit box. Sheesh! At least wipe it down before you leave, even if you think it's secure.

ETA - Given that the actor who plays Pikeman is Australian and Michael just closed a deal with some Australian company for ELQ, is there a chance this company is part of this whole Pikeman storyline and boy genius Michael will look like boy doofus Michael for this deal?

    Here's hoping!

Did Matty's showstopper cake have cut-up pieces of brownie in the filling or in the cake itself? It sounded very interesting. Has a recipe been released?

The brownie pieces were in the filling. There was one shot of him scattering them  across the top of a layer.

Mixed messages, as usual, with Maxie's financial problems.

It's too bad that Felicia didn't tell Maxie that she once maxed out all of her credit cards at the same time and that someone eventually helped bail her out. Maxie, then, might have understood why her mom was willing to help.

But I'll bet that the writers don't know (or don't remember) that.

  18. If I were on a yacht, the last thing I'd care about would be riding around in circles on a stupid jet-ski. I'd want to lie in the sun, sip some drinks, spend some time just enjoying the yacht itself, and go onshore in the ports we visited -- in other words, pretend I was a member of the idle rich. Even though the slide might be fun, I imagine riding it several times would turn into work -- climbing out of the water and trudging up several sets of stairs to get back to the sundeck could get old pretty quickly. The women sunning themselves seemed perfectly happy. I'd be willing to suspect the production team might have played a part in urging them to use Sandy's water toys.

It is hard to defend Nat for a few reasons and one of which is her anger at Jessika, it was baseless and immature, Nat was pissed at Jessika for not checking on her? Really? Stupid.

Although I was a bit tired of her boyfriend issues, I had been willing to give her a pass on some things because of Kyle's machinations, (and because we've all done stupid boyfriend-related things in our past), but her jumping into someone else's conversation to berate Jessica was the tipping point for me. There is something seriously wrong there.

Betting that someone (production . . .  since they had cameras there) convinced Kyle to apologize -- probably because it got through to him that his job might be on the line.

Didn't Dodi say that Diana had picked it out? Or liked it? Something like that.

He was rather insistently asking her to point out something that she liked. I got the impression that she just pointed at the first thing she saw and said, "that one." I would prefer to  think she would have had better taste than to thoughtfully choose something that ugly.

Oh wow I missed that I'm sorry.  Okay, that is news.  I'm shocked by that.

I'm kind of pleased. I've gone on record before about not particularly liking the actor, mainly because the audience could often tell when he was half-assing his scenes. I don't expect anyone to have stellar day every day, but a professional should be able to NOT let the audience know his or her heart isn't in it.
