S10.E18: Reunion (Part 2)
RoseAllDay replied to jewel21's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
And it was the way Amelia said it that really set my teeth on edge...the tone of a self-important little bitch who thinks the world owes her, with Mom right there enjoying and encouraging every minute of it. Rome may not have been the best time to ask that question, but props to Garcelle for asking what a lot of us have been wondering. She’s not afraid to put it out there. Loved her answer to Andy, too. That’s about all the response Little Miss Hamlin deserved. Gawd, I feel sorry for Harry — don’t blame him for always camping out in the middle of nowhere by himself. -
S10.E18: Reunion (Part 2)

Ugh, Rinna. Let’s “own” a few things. 1) She has raised a true, selfish brat in Amelia. I feel bad about the kid’s eating disorder, but her attitude is just gross. That was clear when she flipped off Harry behind his back a few seasons ago, and this season with her demands for a millionaire-worthy apartment while Lisa just sat back, smiled, and gave in. 2) This “modeling career” and “momager” bullshit have been nothing from the get-go but competition with Yolanda Hadid and her girls (who, from what I’ve read, are much humbler and nicer than the Hamlin pair). Nothing is worse than trying to relive one’s life through one’s kids, as well as one-upping a friend (?) in the process. 2a) And didn’t Rinna do her own “gaslighting” of Yolanda over Lyme? 3) Garcelle is right. Every time “Chicago” was brought up, Rinna had to horn in to remind everyone — for the millionth time — that she was also in that show, and DON’T ANYBODY FORGET IT, especially you, Erika). (How long has it been since she was in that show? 20-plus years? Maybe some community theatre in LA will revive “Sunset Boulevard” and she can go do that.) 4) The Instagram dancing? Again. Rinna trying to stay relevant and “young.” Pure desperation, the older she gets. And is it just me, or does Rinna seem the most agitated by what Denise knows but won’t share? I picked up on that at the Rome dinner, and again last night. Why is that? Lisa and the rest yell, “Where’s Brandi?” SMH — only because Brandi is a convenient weapon against Denise at the moment. It wasn’t all that long ago that they wanted absolutely nothing to do with her. Brandi, though, is like the snake in the story. A man befriends the snake and the snake turns around and bites him. When the man asks why, the snake replies, “You knew what I was like when you took me in.” So if they take Brandi back in, they’ll surely “own” whatever they get. Looking at you, Rinna. (And yes, I totally agree with those of you who say Dorit is winning this season.) -
S05.E15: Shot Through the Heart, and Ibiza's to Blame
RoseAllDay replied to OnceSane's topic in Below Deck Mediterranean
Dunno. That was a pretty damn high blood pressure and heart rate. In any case, Jess should have to maybe track her BP and HR for a couple weeks, and get meds (fully compliant with maritime law, of course) if they stay that high or just out of normal range. Sandy likes Malia, so by extension Sandy likes Tom. Therefore, he can do no wrong. That is how she rolls — that was obvious to me from when Tom first set foot on the boat. And if she does get guest complaints, she’ll probably tell Tom they are just being picky and not to worry about it. -
S05.E15: Shot Through the Heart, and Ibiza's to Blame

I did a very quick check-in last night, even though I swore I was done...just can’t help myself. And yup, I should have known better. I tuned in just in time to see Cap’n Care and Concern (trademark pending), parked somewhere inside, tell Malia to have Jess, who was having an apparent heart issue, to COME AND SEE HER. Wait...wut??? This...from a heart attack survivor? Get. Out. I have had heart palpitations (tachycardia), and they are no joke. You can think you are dying, they can be that bad. At least Sandy thought enough to take Jess’s blood pressure (probably saw it as a chance to make it all about her with the spin class story). I had to switch off at that point, so I hope at least they sent Jess onshore for a check, or let her get some rest. This could have come from stress and/or anxiety (nah, what am I thinking — not on that boat), exhaustion — or an underlying issue. If that didn’t say it all about Sandy, her fake empathy, and her leadership skills...I don’t know what will. Woman never disappoints. -
I remember thinking at the time that this was just more shit-stirring on Sandy’s part (what a surprise). She had to have known about the Malia-Wes-Adam thing, and she kept pressing Wes to name a lead deckhand. Wes, knowing the can o’worms he would open, kept putting her off until she forced his hand. Between Malia and Bobby, there was no question who was stronger. But it looked bad on Wes’s part regardless — which was the result Sandy wanted: Malia promoted, Wes uncomfortable, Bobby angry, and Adam further hurt. Nothing good was going to come out of that, no matter how it went down. But hey! Teamwork makes the dream work! (As always, YMMV.)

S10.E17: Reunion Part I
RoseAllDay replied to TexasGal's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
Somebody should have warned me to wear my waders, what with all that bullshit. It never fails to amaze how these women can say the most hurtful and mean things — with that intent — and then turn around and say they were “only joking,” (Sutton’s sneer about Teddi’s pregnancy — made straight to the face of someone who was still a relative stranger to Sutton); or that they “didn’t mean it to come out that way” (Dorit to Sutton about the DNA event, at which Dorit made Sutton sound like a physical threat). “Sorry.” Nope. Remember “British humor, darling?” Same thing, no matter who does it. I’m over Kyle and Rinna. Garcelle — how did they sell you on participating in this mess? You are way too classy, graceful, and intelligent (and normal?) for these women, especially when Klueless Kyle had the nerve to imply that you were a deadbeat over the charity donation without obviously checking with the organizer first. (I’m pretty sure, though, that the only form of payment at those things is by credit card, and it wouldn’t be immediately posted anyway. So, why, Kyle?) I’ll stick this out, I’ve made it this far, but unless there is a major housecleaning next season my DVR will have even more space. -
I did a quick Google search and some are fussy, but not to the degree of tackiness that Sandy loves and expects. Other settings are much more simple and tasteful, with only fine china, cloth napkins, tableware, and glassware. Sandy somehow has never learned that less is often more, and I just pray she never sees the BD episode where Adrian wanted to use the live sea creature as a centerpiece (memory on exact details may be cloudy, but do recall everyone from Lee on down being pretty grossed out by it). God only knows what “inspiration” she’ll take from that. I may just be a gal of simple means, but I much prefer the modest place settings, china, and stemware to the Bugs extravaganzas of glitter, streamers, balloons, and other foo-foo that Sandy wants, but only work to make it more difficult to serve, eat, and clean up the food — which is why, really, people are at the table in the first place. (I think it’s also disrespectful to the chef to take the attention away from the food, which Sandy is also obsessed over. I can’t with that woman.)

S10.E16: Denise and Desist
RoseAllDay replied to jewel21's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I know I’m late to the party, but I just joined last week. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. 😊 Two things I’ve never understood while watching this season: 1) WHO CARES what Denise did with whom? And this all started because Denise took exception to the conversation at the barbecue? (While Denise has been a bit disingenuous about the kids’ reaction — Sammi saying it was “funny” — I can see a real concern about the other kids going home and telling their folks all about the sex talk they heard at the Phypers-Richards residence. I don’t blame Denise for not wanting that headache. It’s one thing to talk dirty when you are amongst yourselves, but in a more open setting...(but YMMV)). 2) I really wasn’t watching when Brandi was in the cast, but I’ve seen enough in reruns to wonder why everyone sees her now as their best bud. I recall a reunion where she turned up via video, threw drunken insults, and everyone demanded Andy cut the feed. But now, because they all have an ax to grind with Denise, Brandi is back in the circle? See 1) for my opinion about the texts, and again this shows how low Brandi will go. If they let her back in the group, someone else will be next (looking at you, Rinna and/or Kyle). I’ll stick it out for the reunion since I’ve made it this far, but this is just one more Bravo franchise that’s slowly circling the drain. -
Hannah: Hates Her Job And It Shows
RoseAllDay replied to OnceSane's topic in Below Deck Mediterranean
Same here. The Peacock app has entire seasons of BD and BDM. I just started rewatching season 2 of BDM — Sandy’s grand debut — and all the warning signs were there from the get-go. It’s been ALL Sandy ALL the time. Hannah was over her midway through the first episode — my hat is off to her for putting up with that menace for as long as she did. I know I couldn’t have.- 68 replies

Well, she’s kind of made her own bed this season. Queen Malia’s use of Hannah’s mental health condition to get back at her for not jumping to do Malia’s bidding, costing Hannah her job, isn’t exactly the way to go about growing a fanbase. Just saying.

Captain Sandy: Micromanagement is Her Middle Name
RoseAllDay replied to OnceSane's topic in Below Deck Mediterranean
This is a very good point that I forgot yesterday — there is just so much wrong with Sandy that it would take a book the size of War and Peace to list it all. That is definitely another irritating thing she does: Butts in to the guests’ dinner — and the guests’ time — and asks for complaints. Again — it’s just more ammunition she uses to undermine her staff, which is ultimately what did to poor Kiko. When the food gets praise, she actually acts disappointed! She hovers like a bad waiter. It’s the chief stewardess’ job to check on guests. Sandy has really one job — piloting the yacht — watching conditions to make sure things are functioning properly and on schedule. Everything else should be left up to the department heads to handle. It’s called chain of command. If Sandy feels she can’t trust her crew — well, that says more about her than it does about them. I wanted to say yesterday, too, that I enjoyed BDM maybe more than BD, because I loved the travel porn. BDM goes to some of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen (and will not see in person ever, probably), both on sea and on land. But if I can’t watch for more than 10 minutes at a time (like I did with Hannah’s last episode), and I watch angry, there’s really no point. One ugly person can spoil it all — on many levels. (One thing I’ve always wondered — did that yacht staffing service ever get sick of Sandy’s weekly calls asking for a replacement?)- 159 replies

Captain Sandy: Micromanagement is Her Middle Name
RoseAllDay replied to OnceSane's topic in Below Deck Mediterranean
Longtime reader, first time poster here. I'll try to keep it short since I don't know the protocol for new members. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how much I detest Sandy as a person and as a captain. I keep thinking of what C.J. said about Lee before C.J. quit in BD Season 1: "There is a reason this boat has more turnover than a bad restaurant, and it's because of him." This applies much more to Sandy than it ever has to Lee. Sandy is like a predator that lies in the weeds, waiting for her next victim. She lurks, nurses grievances, looks for and catalogs weakness (real or imagined) and things to nitpick, and then does not let up until her victim is destroyed. Hannah was able to fight this for three seasons, until Sandy had an accomplice in Malia to make the job of running off Hannah easier. All this fake "concern" and sympathy she showed Hannah over the past few seasons was just intel that Sandy tucked away for use at the right time. If it wasn't Hannah's lack of table setting "talent," it would have been something else. Sandy used a bona fide health condition as a weapon against Hannah many times with her browbeating and lectures about having "passion for the industry." Poor Kiko, a newbie, had no chance once he got into Sandy's crosshairs. She made him doubt himself to the point where he had no confidence, and then "negotiated" his dismissal in the galley, within earshot of anyone nearby. Then the next morning she had the gall to play nice, with her lovely parting words of support. It's cruel, it's mean, and it is not the way a mature, responsible manager acts. I can only recall one or two times where Lee has taken an such an active interest in the galley, and that was because there were obvious problems that were spilling over onto the rest of the boat (Kate and Leon, Matt). Likewise, I don't recall him ever making a big deal over table settings (about which I wonder how they even manage to put the food on the table). Breathing down people's necks to the point of obsession is not the way to encourage productivity, and really, not a very professional way for a captain of a mega-yacht to spend the bulk of her time. Sandy plays favorites. She sets the crew against one another. It's always struck me how she builds up one member or crew at the expense of the other. Case in point is throwing a fit last season when the the table wasn't set for breakfast two hours before service, for which she reamed Hannah (who had been up late the night before along with another stewardess). Then, she takes Joao aside to pat him on the back for the deckies' "initiative" of being up early. It was clear from the get-go that Bugs was her pet, and she could barely contain her glee at the thought of pitting Hannah and Bugs against each other one more time. Another gripe is how she calls out people by name at the tip meeting for criticism. I had a friend, a Navy vet, who said his commanders always "praised in public and reprimanded in private." This is how it is (or should be) in any organization. Sandy's management style is sick. (And why did she tolerate deckhand Travis's obvious alcohol problem for most of his season? Didn't that present just as much of a safety threat to the boat as Hannah's miniscule Xanax prescription? And keeping Pete around after his totally inappropriate talk to the women? Double standards abound with Cap'n Sandy.) I'm happy for both Hannah and Kiko that they are far, far away from that franchise of the damned. I cheered Hannah for not taking the "concern troll" bait from Sandy -- she saw it for the fakery that it was and did not give Sandy the reaction Sandy wanted. If that scene didn't show Sandy or who and what she is, nothing will. As much as I would like to hate-watch BDM (since it seems Chef Golden Boy isn't ALL THAT), I can't. I'm out. Maybe if they bring on a different captain next season (maybe even bring Mark Howard back?) I'll reconsider. But I watch these shows (especially since COVID) to be entertained and amused, and that's no longer possible with BDM -- like Bravo really cares anyway. Thanks for the opportunity to vent. Peace out.- 159 replies
