  1. Surely you are supposed to forget about Jane's previous injuries, because that was so two weeks ago.  Maura is being shown this season the way she was being shown in season one, unable to function in daily life, but super-brilliant.  Medical examiners do not go to suicide bridges until after the suicide, and they wouldn't go then unless they were called and the police (multiple) were already there.  Coroners do go to people's homes when a natural death occurs, but that is something different.

I liked the Angela routine this week.  maybe it was because Jane was on board with Angela.

I really do like the new female on the squad, and Frankie has matured this season.  Korsak is stepping up.... but they have not yet explained where the Lt. actually went.  He would have been front and center for this high-profile case,

  2. I thought Tom's wife was actually dead, in that Tom actually saw her body.  I might be mis-remembering my Mason back-story though.

Definitely ended on a 2001 note.   Of course, its the season finale, so Tom has to be separated from the 2nd mass... like every season finale.

Triangle continues to annoy me.  Actually enjoyed the Pope -Sara reunion.  Not sure that Lexi is actually dead, maybe the Volm teleported her onto their ship at the last second.   Was really annoyed at the amount of Lexi-Tom hallucination time.

I have decided that we get all these new red-shirts every year, because TPTB refuse to spend any money on anyone whose character isn't a Mason, dating a Mason, or co-leading the unit with a Mason.  So, we can't bring anyone else in for more than 1 season because we might have to give them a raise.

  3. If the law change in Utah is limited to what the judge said (legal marriage to only 1 spouse, co-habitation with others at the same time ok), then I can accept it (truly accept it, not just tolerate it).  When Sister Wives first came on, I equated them with FDLS, and that the concept was disgusting.  However, now, I am content to let stupid, low-esteem women be stupid, low-esteem women.... still don't like the FDLS stuff.

However, understanding the concept of slippery slope, I am concerned that someone will actually try to make it legal  to be legally married to multiple spouses at once, which would further cripple our Social Security, tax, health insurance, and other financial benefits of being married.

  4. I bet the construction project is building a guest house complex that will allow multiple offspring to be home with their spouses and families for several times a year.  We have not yet seen where Josh /Anna/the kids sleep during one of the multiple trips quarter that they make.  Maybe in the bus?  You add a few more adults with spouses to that mix, and you've got a real problem.

I truly believe that Jessa is being married off to the first requestor (Ben)because she might actually be someone that would fly the coop given the opportunity.   Jim Bob can't be having that while the TLC/speaking engagement money is still flowing. She doesn't strike me as someone that actually believes all the Gothard/ATI verbiage.  Can't really see her with a passel of children, in a small two bedroom home, with frumpy clothing and a body ravaged by too many pregnancies.   However, she's going to have to run, run far away from her parents (and Ben) once she says her vows and is allowed off the compound without a chaperone, otherwise, that's the life she is going to get.

  5.

I have a feeling Jerrick had a wedding night baby.  My parents?  Still not buying that an 8 mo baby weighed 6# and change

My son weighed 9 lbs, and since the baby gains about 2 lbs in the last month, it is more possible than  you think,  How much did the other babies in the family weigh?

Like everyone else, I really wanted Jerrick to wait a while, so that Jill could have concentrate on herself for a while.  But, that leads to thoughts of having a life for yourself, and we can't have that in the Duggar family. Hoped Derrick would care more about Jill than that.

As to Jessa, yes, she got short-changed on the engagement announcement. However, with a family this size, with the number that could be courting, engaged, married, or expecting at any one time.... it's going to be hard to be able to shine the spotlight on just one.  Josh, being a few years older, got some 'Me, Me, Me' publicity, and Josie being a premie, got the same.  The rest of them have never lived any way other than being grouped together in two dorm rooms.

  6. As to the school:   Think about this:  The students had been raised in war zones for the last few years, hungry, dirty, ill, etc.   The school was using the fact that the children had a roof, bed, food, clean clothes, baths, etc.  Young minds can easily be manipulated like that.

  7. I must say that so far the triangle and the superpowers are being handled so badly that I'm already longing for Lexi's return.

    But maybe that's just me.

It's just you (smiley face).  Ben had some superpowers (jumping/hearing (the radio frequencies), but not the ones they highlighted tonight.  Given that Maggie has 3 of Ben's spikes, wouldn't she just have a small superpower, and wouldn't Ben's be diminished.

    Really liking the Shaq Volm.

  8. On the early episode (the one with the Italian cruise ship), you had to actually get someone's blood or bodily fluid on you to catch the virus.  That is why the crew member shot himself because he fell on a newly dead body with blood on it and got it on his face.   Now, all of a sudden, you get it thru the air.  Chandler's wife wasn't  within 10 fee of the dead body.  I think her 'symptoms' are misleading.

  9. Ben now says that the spikes increase his emotions?  Seems rather odd since the harnessed kids were like robots when they were under the skitters care.  First it has been mentioned.  Rather convenient that he mentions it as part of the triangle.   Also don't remember the spikes making Ben a crack shot... is that just a female power?

Do the writers watch their own show?

It was nice to see a wedding in the middle of this.  I think it is the first one in the show?

  10. Ben's Dad's comment was along the lines of 'Phillips/Gothard were called great Christians, but they've been proven false'... so that although Ben appears to be a great Christian from appearances, he must continue to guard his actions better than those two mentioned.  the pride goeth before a fall comment, I think.  I think it bodes well that Ben's Dad is cautionary about letting fame go to your head,

  11.

This bit really reminded me of Boob's role in Jill and Jessa's courtships, particularly the bolded:" If she says you need to talk to her dad first, just move on to the next girl. Don’t let the fact that some women have controlling fathers keep you from dating the girls with more normal families. There are a lot of fish in the sea and some dads are nicer than others.  Remember that this man would have become your father-in-law, and controlling people tend to control everything they can

Ben should have listened to his own Dad.  This bit sounds like Dad was warning Ben off Jessa, not calling out Jim Bob.  Haven't read the rest of the blog, so maybe he is doing both.   Now Ben has a controlling father-in-law-to-be that is on the outs with his own father.  Not a good newlywed situation.

  12. I think Angela was attempting to treat Jane like Jane would want to be treated.  She told her that 'it would be Ok',  and let her know that it happens to other women too.  Telling Jane about her own miscarriage let her know that Mom would actually understand(for once).

Personally, I dislike the common use of 'it will be OK' at times of death and great injury... because it is meaningless.  The dead person isn't going to come back to life as we know it, not all injuries heal completely, etc.    What the person really means is that 'you will feel better in time and be able to go on with YOUR life'.

  13. They were just outside of Charleston when the fences magically appeared, and they were splintered off.    They seemed to be in 3 groups then - 1 inside the fence, and two outside.  Lexi, Lourdes, Maggie, Ben (in a coma, no less) ended up in 'Chinatown'.

Anne, Anthony, and a few 'others', ended up searching for Lexi. The skitter than Anne tortured had thoughts of the "West', which is where they went.

Lourdes was broadcasting coordinates on some frequency, that was a day away from where the 'in-fenced' group was holed up after they escaped the fence.  i don't recall the coordinates.

So, 'Chinatown' is somewhere West of Charleston, a day's walk away at least.    Given the way they can cover ground in these shows, could be anywhere East of the Mississippi.

  14. I could be wrong, but I don't think he is dissing Derick or missionary work. I think he is dissing Obama and saying Washington DC is full of headhunters and cannibals.

Similar jokes have been made for years, regardless of which party is in office.  Think the annual Press dinner.   It's similar to the jokes made about rooms full of lawyers.  I'm actually impressed that Josh would make a joke that used God in any way.

  15. Who was on this crashed ship?  Was it a drone, or was it the ship that the burned Overlord arrived in?    It had room for several 'people'.

Shouldn't Ben's spikes have all wanted to be together?  They came from 1 'thing' when they attached to Ben.  A better scenario would have been Ben's spikes pulling themselves from him and moving over to Maggie.   Then we could have seen Ben adjusting back to being normal. Does Maggie having some of the spikes weaken Ben?

If 3 can heal paralysis, why have 10?

  16. The first year of marriage is difficult as you come to know your spouse in new  little ways, and that is for couples who were allowed to know each other in the first place.  Add in the effect of never having a single actual conversation that was just for the two of you alone, and you gets lots of adjustment.  Add in Jill not ever being able to make a decision about anything other than if the woman delivering should push, and you get Derick being the only adult in the marriage.  Derick is used to women that decide for themselves if they are going to the mall, have lunch, buy a small item for the house, etc. derrick is used to only being financially responsible for himself.   Derick has a Mom battling cancer, and relatives that possibly think he's lost his mind.  Jill has 20 people who don't understand that she's not available to them 24 by 7, and that Jim Bob can't tell her what to do all of those 24 by 7 minutes  Jill is likely trying to reconcile her (parents') beliefs versus Derick's beliefs, along with the fact that she is supposed to (in her parents culture) defer to Derick in all matters. Even when she doesn't want to.

So quite possibly they were seen having an actual real adult difference of opinion that blew over in 5 minutes, but some idiot ran to the tabloids with it.

I am also sure the brothers enjoy coming to her house where it is quiet. There's most likely a TV and a computer without a password, maybe some books and magazines. Maybe they get to have actual conversations with each other about what they want when they grow up.  Maybe they get to earn actual money lawn mowing.

  17. I think  Maura be a better foster parent for a person wanting to be a doctor.  If Jane is still pregnant, she has enough going on.  If she has lost the baby, she has that to deal with.  Bringing in a foster child seems a little 'been there, done that' move.

I like that they are slowly working the new detective into the squad, and that she connected with someone naturally.

  18. I also liked Tector and Kadar.  I liked Lourdes the first season, after that she went from faith into insanity.

Anne is also insane,. her daughter left the human part of herself in that cocoon.   However, the writers did a disservice in leaving Lexi to look human on the way out of it.   It's scary to see a young woman with that much power, that can't see reality.   She's more dangerous than the fake Nazi schools.  So, Ben falls back into the Eshpeni hands? Or, maybe not, since the pre-views showed him alive and with the 2nd mass?

This felt like a season finale to me, and that is why those pre-views really surprised me.

Just how do you kill an overlord since flame and bullets are useless?

  19. I think that Janelle may actually be able to keep her house, because I think she understands the concept of a mortgage payment.  If she can actually make her payments for 3 years, and show an income, she might actually be able to get a real  loan.  Of course, having her name on the Lehi house mortgage might be an issue.   She will have to move Christine's brood into her home.

Meri, with only Mariah, might also be able to make her mortgage payments.  Her and Kody's names are also on the Lehi house mortgage.  Meri's problem is going to be the same as it always has been... too much emphasis on vacations with Kody, too much spoiling of Mariah, not enough financial planning.  There is also the fact that she and Kody were the last to get these house loans approved.  Hope Meri realizes her craft room will be Robyn's bedroom.

Robyn and Christine have no hope of being able to get a mortgage in 3 years.  No real income, no real concept of making payments. Christine had trouble with these last loans because she hadn't bothered to pay her utility bills on time.  Robyn had trouble because she can't seem to remember what her last name is on any financial paperwork.  Remember the visit with the credit counselor?

  20. I know I am certainly not perfect with my grammar, but it still bugs me when Meri says something like, "Robyn offered to carry a baby for Kody and I". I find myself yelling "Kody and ME" into the TV.

I have to admit that I was also taught to say 'and I', and that 'and me' was incorrect.  So, now, every time I hear 'and me' I cringe. It just doesn't  sound right.  It must be a regional thing (that or I am old).  I have more trouble with the way the Browns mispronounce words, completely skip certain vowels,  and so forth.

    • Love 2
  21. Trying to wrap my head around the fact that the Browns actually admit they need the money from the MSWC 'business' for income, yet have made so few sales.    Is it 500 total or an average of 500 per month?  If it is 500 total, how can they even think they will get money from investers?  How can Robyn keep a straight face regarding being 'so busy'?  If it is 500 average monthly, that is still not enough to keep 22 people with 4 hours afloat.

  22. Anne, who has lost her son, has an alien for a daughter, can't be bothered to greet her step-children after not seeing them for months?  She grabbed Tom and split without even a look at Hal and Matt.  Hal's an adult, but Matt's not.  He's suffered trauma here too.   She's lived around Matt, and Hal for 3 years, she barely even knows this Lexi.   You can't  really love a child than has gone from 0 -20 in a few months, most of which were spent without you.  She has an out of body experience, but is not dying?

Since the Volm have seen these cocoons before, and since we have yet to see a female Espheni, is this the way they keep their species alive... stealing babies, inserting their DNA, and then sort of hatching their kids like caterpillar/butterflies.  Since we haven't seen a female Espheni, what is Lexi going to turn into?  So, Vulcans become emotional at the end of life, and Espheni's start out violent.

What is going on with Maggie?  She changes her mood this season every 5 minutes.  First, she loves Chinatown, then she hates it.  First, she likes Ben, then she thinks he is alien like Lexi.  First she wants to kill Lexi, then she wants to protect her.   Where is the Maggie that we have seen for the last 3 seasons?

    • Love 2
  23. Christine's comments while standing and leaving were in the line of being upset about an earlier part of the interview.  She said 'I have to take a break, I should have done this earlier.    I think she was upset about the question regarding the time split for Kody between the wives.  Kody first refused to answer it, and was offended by the question.  Tamron went around him and asked the wives.  3 of the 4 said yes, they felt lonely and felt the time split unfair.  Robyn did not answer it, at least, as far as I saw.  It's tough to keep your eye on 4 people at once.

Unless this was filmed in the spring, I don't think Robyn in pregnant.   Although I missed the first two minutes, she didn't look like she was.

Unless this was filmed in the spring, I don't think they are ever going to get the MSWC money.

Robyn needs to give some real thought to how she answered the question about Meri and school.  She (in addition to the business thing) briefly said something similar in the TH in the college episode itself.   What she says sounds dangerously close to cult-ish.  yes, a young adult spreads her/his wings in college, meets lots of new people, changes their minds on issues, etc.  Meri is 40, her thoughts on issues, etc are long  set.  She's not being to be attending frat parties, she's going to be going to classes (some on online), and coming home.   What is going to affect Meri most is what has been affecting her for the last couple of years, empty nest syndrome.  At least she's gotten past the terrifying part, and has moved on to the 'It's me time' part.

There was really nothing new here, it was a review of the season.  Even the personal questions have all been asked in one of the last two 'tell-alls' prior to this.   For people who actually watch their own show, they don't seem to pay attention to the scenes other than to see if Kody's hair is still there.  They are clueless as to how Kody's hormone speech went, clueness at their own presentation flaws.  I knew exactly how the investors took Christine's 'lazy and complacent' comment, because is how I took it.  Christine meant what she said.... that if they got too much money, they would blow it on fast cars and so forth, rather than working on the business.    If I were involved in a reality show, and I saw how I looked in the resulting episode, I think I would run for the hills.  they seem to think they are special, and that they are being portrayed that way.  Meanwhile, their viewers watch them for laughs.
