I wonder about real-life statistics for impregnated rape victims carrying a pregnancy to term. In Wolf-world it seems to be 100%.

S02.E13: As Hubris Is To Oedipus
faithie replied to WendyCR72's topic in Law & Order: Organized Crime
This arc has gotten so bad, I was hoping for a St. Olivia cross-over just to break the monotony. -
I could have sworn Wheatley had remarried (the young girl with a penchant for swimwear). Yet he is quite obsessed with Wife No. 1. I suppose Wife No. 2 just looks the other way as long as the money train keeps rolling? Hiring James Cromwell to seduce Stabler's mom - WTF? Absolutely pointless. (Though it's a delight to see Cromwell - I honestly didn't know he was still alive; and the poetry was quite charming). The elevator fight was the jump-the-shark moment. It's time to drop the Wheatley storyline for good - it's way over the top and is starting to look like a Marvel movie. Hopefully after the Olympics we can get more of the Congressman/Governor arc (but without Wheatley).

I was going to complain about the never-ending Wheatley arc. But yesterday ION TV ran a William Lewis episode. That nightmare made me grateful for Wheatley.

I am among those who hate the Stabler family and the Benson/Stabler relationship. Yet I think somebody in the writer's room has some self-awareness. It was awesome when Eli was at the police station, glared at St.Olivia and asked "what are you doing here?" And to echo a previous commenter, who was watching Noah while St.Olivia was chasing down Eli? Everytime the whole Stabler family gets together, I hope Linda Blair walks in and spews green vomit all over them.

An earlier poster said it best: great idea - terrible execution. The truly funny thing is that the writers seemed to.know they were going off the rails when Betty Buckley complained about the optics of going lenient on the teen girl. But then the writers said "nevermind" and proceeded to hammer home the woke politics. There was a real opportunity to wrestle with questions of culpability and personal agency. (Especially given that the teen had more than ample opportunity to escape when she went to school everyday and even left the country.) But the writers got lazy and resorted to that magic word: trafficking. At this point I have to.admit that my two-decade crush on Mariska is the only thing that keeps me tied to.this poorly-written drivel.

That whole scene was extremely preposterous. After the judge, the stenographer is the 2nd most important person necessary for a courtroom to function. The mom could have walked in the hallways and gotten some random person to send the message to her brother. Let me get this straight: the mom can't speak because she was shot in the crossfire when her own brother killed her husband? And now she's ready to sacrifice her own son to the same brother who killed her husband? If I didn't grow up in the Philadelphia area in the late 1970's- early 1980's I would say this scenario is also preposterous - but the Sicilian-American mob of that era wasn't too far off from Dick Wolf's imagination here. I can't be the only one who initially thought Nova was working undercover as the stenographer. It took me several minutes to realize it wasn't her.

Honestly, I can't name a single other movie or tv show that MH has appeared in. I know there were a few things in the 1990's but nothing comes to top of mind. At this point it's nearly impossible to separate the actress from the character; especially when the character gives so many political speeches.

So nobody in town was suspicious about the claim that stunning, stylish Natalie was having an affair with the dorky professor who wears a Members Only jacket? hard to believe

Christian Garland is in a battle with the evil white men of the NYPD hierarchy Sgt. Bell from Organized Crime is in a battle of with the evil white men of the NYPD hierarchy (the nephew's brutality lawsuit) This has been done: nearly 20 years ago, S. Epatha Merkerson on the Mothership was in . . . a protracted legal battle with the evil white men of the NYPD hierarchy. Anyhow, maybe it's me but has "trafficking" become the most overused term of the last 10-15 years. Hard to believe that the NYPD would spend so much time and energy on a prostitution ring in which the prostitutes: are all adults all US citizens not streetwalking https://reason.com/2019/05/15/the-sex-trafficking-panic/

S01.E05: An Inferior Product (2)
faithie replied to WendyCR72's topic in Law & Order: Organized Crime
Whoever ordered the hit on Kathy, it had to be a message to Elliott. A cop investigating organized crime AND with a long history of brutality makes a lot of enemies. A Queens housewife does not. If I recall correctly, isn't the Stabler daughter leading the intervention the same one who repeatedly gave him the figurative middle finger and badmouthed him every chance she got. (Those with better SVU historical knowledge please correct me). The black kid getting stomped by the white cops was a pretty ham-handed effort to shoehorn in the current headlines. ("Racist white cops brutalize innocent, unarmed black man"). And the action scene was extremely clumsy where the cops stop chasing the perps and target this random kid. Does anyone know the real backstory on Meloni's return? Did Wolf approach him specifically for the new show idea? Or was the approach initially for a return to SVU and instead Meloni asked for his own vehicle? Regardless of what went down, pretty clever that Wolf makes you watch some SVU episodes in order to follow the OC plotline. EDIT: I was not familiar with Tamara Taylor but she is excellent. She reallly pulls off the "I'm just a mild mannered college professor who in my misguided youth married the wrong guy. But I fixed my youthful mistake by divorcing him so why would I be involved in any of his sordid activity?" -
S01.E03: Say Hello To My Little Friends
faithie replied to WendyCR72's topic in Law & Order: Organized Crime
Very much agreed that the Wheatley character is way over the top and is a complete departure from L&O franchise villains. (Though the Titus Welliver character on SVU was trending in that territory). But LOL at Wheatley's trophy wife; she is annoyed by the ex-wife's constant presence, whether in-person or via telephone. Looks like Sugar Daddy never quite let go of Wife No. 1 and is still heavily attracted to her. Come to think of it, why do Wheatley and Wife No. 1 spend so much time together? Given that the children are well past "grown", there is certainly no need for co-parenting. -
S01.E01: What Happens In Puglia (2)
faithie replied to WendyCR72's topic in Law & Order: Organized Crime
Several commenters wonder if Wolf and the writers can pull off an extended story arc with one villain. Wasn't William Lewis on for about 20 SVU episodes? Or maybe it just seemed like it. -
S22.E09: The Return Of The Prodigal Son (1)
faithie replied to WendyCR72's topic in Law & Order: SVU
LOL about Rollins and her poor judgment. Back on New Year's, Carrisi was in her apartment playing Daddy with her kids. I try to imagine my son saying "I have a new girlfriend" with this profile: 1. A substance abuse problem. 2. A gambling problem that almost got her killed by bookies 3. Two kids close in age by two different guys, neither of whom she "loved". 4. An overbearing, manipulative, narcissist for a mother. 5. A batsheet-crazy addict sister that will steal anything thats not nailed down. Nice catch, Carrisi. -

Lots of staring deeply in the eyes between Benson and Stabler - as a previous commenter said, it seemed kind of forced at times. And I always hated the Stabler family soap opera but didn't want anyone to get killed - I just wanted them to be ignored. Anyway lots of LOL moments: 1. Stabler's wife is on her deathbed but she is lucid enough to comment on Elliott and Olivia being in sync and can't believe they haven't spoken in a decade. It was hard to tell if she was being sarcastic or sincere. 2. Probably the most startling moment was while the wife was on her deathbed, Olivia berates Elliott for leaving because he was the "single most important person in my life". Pretty strong stuff to say to a married co-worker of the opposite sex. 3. Rollins seemed really skeptical that Olivia and Elliott were "just" partners. I suppose Rollins would be thinking that Olivia is a hypocrite since she always comes down so hard on Rollins for even the smallest infraction. 4. At the burial, the only people in attendance were Elliott, his children, some dude who appeared to be a son-in-law and . . . Olivia. No extended family, no friends, no minister or anybody else close to the wife - but Olivia was there. I was waiting for her to tell the children, "don't worry kids, your new step-mommy is here". 5. Olivia tracks down Elliott at his hotel because she wants to talk about the note he had given her. Then she appears crushed when he blows her off. What was there to talk about? -
Law & Order: OC In The Media
faithie replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Law & Order: Organized Crime
Given our current social climate, i presume the writers will significantly tone down Stabler's penchant for police brutality? -
Writers were asleep on this latest episode. As others pointed out, medical practices have "partnerships" but hospitals don't. Then they butchered the story line about Juniors girlfriend. They couldnt decide if she was going to grad school for psychology or medical school. They are two completely different things. The sketchy Caribbean schools are medical schools. They dont offer a Psychology doctorate.

I guess kind of like antebellum US slave masters who had "relationships" with female slaves.

LOL that the bigoted judge carried on a long-term sexual "arrangement" with the smoking hot black girl. Guess Leight and Crew didnt realize the disconnect there. Also LOL that the writers seem to know very little about elite colleges in the 21st century. They would have you think that students wear t-shirts that say "working class kid on financial aid/scholarship". And while there are still plenty of wealthy, preppy WASPS, these days they are outnumbered by the combination of Jews and Asians.

LOL- a couple of posters beat me to the punch but might as well pile on. there was clearly a personal element to Rollins' screed at Carisi. I too immediately thought back to a couple years ago when stable, mature family-oriented Carisi showed romantic interest but Rollins pushed him away. She was too busy being pumped and dumped by selfish bad-boy jerks. you can spend all day questioning just how much "reality" is depicted in this series but the writers nailed this one: the "nice guy" gets pushed away and then later on the woman regrets it but it's already too late
