  1. According to Shirley Jones' autobiography (a truly bizarre read), Jack Cassidy regretted turning the part down quite a bit.
  2. Oh, I think Jack Cassidy could have done it with success, but he had a very limited range.
  3. It's quite arguable that Petyr never loved Catelyn. He loved the idea of her, just as he likes the idea of Sansa. They're not people to him. They're game pieces. He's grooming Sansa, has been grooming her all along, in the way that child molesters groom their victims.
  4. See, I read that more as he's a soldier. Moreover he's a general. This is what he's good at. He saw the attack with the wildfire for what it was. He knew they'd shot their wad. He regrouped and he led the attack. He didn't cower like Joffrey. He didn't hang back. He charged. And I thought his being held back was more because he was in the moment. He was in his element and he is not the kind of guy to back down. Ever. I like Stannis. I have since his very first scene with composing the letter, which was just hilarious. He's got a ton of problems and character flaws, but he's one of my favorite characters. He has middle child syndrome. He watched his brother grow fat and lazy and probably had problems with how he was letting the country to go to pot, but I think if he thought Cersei's children were Robert's, he wouldn't have done anything. And if Renly were older, I think he would have supported his brother. But he knows the kids are bastards and he, not Renly is the older brother. Therefore, the way he sees the world, the throne should be his. But time will tell....
  5. I am not particularly interested in Ramsay. Roose fascinates me, though. It does not help that they cast the quite attractive Michael McElhatton with the mellifluous voice.
  6. I have thought about this a lot. I can't pin down my favorite episode, but I can pin down my top 5 in no particular order: "Try and Catch Me" - with Ruth Gordon - nice performance by Gordon and you get the sense that Columbro really does like her. "Ransom for a Dead Man" - Lee Grant - totally unsympathetic murderer, Columbo flying, interesting story, I love this "It's All in the Game" - where not only does Faye Dunaway bring it as a fairly sympathetic murderer, but you have the sense that she really does feel for him. "Troubled Waters" - it's not the murderer who makes this. It's the setting. We have a chance to see Columbo as less of a schlub as his expertise is called upon by the captain and the doctor. "Make Me a Perfect Murder" - I love this one. It's just very well done all around.
  7. It's available on some of the streaming sites. I have a harder time locating the tv movies from the 80s and 90s.
