  1. The Nice woman - did anyone else think she looked like Kathy Griffin?  I did a double-take when I first saw her.

The teenage boy and girl sharing a small bedroom.  They never once acted like there was anything wrong with it, including Adrienne.  Huh?

She kept saying that whatever they bought now would not be permanent, would just be a "stepping stone." Why didn't they just rent an apartment then? Did they have to buy property in order for her to practice there?

And as mentioned already above, we do our taxes remotely now. Fed-ex, email, phone call.

A lot of these shows run together for me, but a common theme is, "we want our children to experience different cultures."  Then why not stay where you are and TRAVEL to different countries with the children, instead of moving someplace where they will just experience the culture of that place.

Agree. I’ve noticed that among the wealthy, the standard of beauty is thinness but a wan face shows wrinkles, which is where fillers come in.

I think it was the weight gain and her style, yeah. I wouldn’t call her husband stylish but he was dressed more youthfully than she was - actually, so was the aunt/agent, though I wondered if she was hot in jeans.

I kind of felt sorry for her. And while I know this is all scripted, and they had already bought a house, I always kind of marvel at people who arrive at a location and are surprised at the price of homes. Before I made firm plans to move to another state, I would do some research on housing prices.  There's this thing called the internet where you can search for yourself.  Imagine!

During the gun disusssion she was being a contrarian when Joy and Sunny expressed doubt that anything will change. She was saying things have been been done constantly or something like that. (Have they? I dont think so) As per usual, she made little sense. I got the feeling a couple of times she got some words in her ear about things she was saying or they were telling her to go to commercial. Whoopi seems to think that everything she says is profound because she is just so wise.

Her saying she thinks things will change because she has "faith in the people" was a jaw-dropping moment. That idea might have flown if this was the first shooting, but this happens over and over and over and nothing changed. Believe me, I would have been so thankful if the Senate, who holds all the cards, wanted to enact laws after what happened two weeks ago.  But they don't. This has been a terrible, horrible, sad, horrific time, but mark my words, there will be another one. I could see that Sunny and Joy were frustrated with her but I guess they know better than to argue with Queen Whoopi.

  4. Valerie was on the Today show this morning, with Hoda. I was kind of taken aback by how big she has gotten.  She is usually only seen from the waist up on her cooking show, on Today it was a full-length shot. She kind of fell back when she sat in the chair. She was wearing black pants and a big black long-sleeved top but you could see how big her stomach was below the top. Sorry to be so snarky, but she looked like hell, her face looked puffy and she was crying and her eye make-up was starting to run.

Of course she talked about Ed and Wolfie.  Hoda complimented her on being such a forgiving person, but she (Valerie) said no, that was actually not the case with this divorce she is going through.  Said she will never marry again (or even love again) because she has "trust issues."

She did a chicken thigh recipe and said she doesn't know what the future holds as far as Food Network, after the next season. I wonder if she is getting some help, because she clearly seems to be in a bad place.

I don't know how it was 40 years ago, but I think they give you an option of holding the dead infant or not. Maybe Jack and Rebecca just couldn't do that. I do remember how sad they both seemed when talking to Dr K. in the "Kyle" episode. I just think the show didn't want to belabor it.

Over 40 years ago, I had a baby that died two days after birth.  I had had a c-section; they wheeled me down to the nursery where I was able to hold her for a few minutes after she died.

Honestly, my young husband and I (we were in our early 20's) were so unprepared for this that, had they offered me another baby to take home, I probably would have done it. There was no counseling offered, just told to go home and get over it.  Fortunately I did have another child at home waiting for me. Since that time, I have heard of organizations that will come in and take pictures of the baby (if you wish), help you make any arrangements that need to be made.  Again - at that time, no one talked about this stuff and no one thinks the worst is going to happen. I look back and wish there had been someone or something like that for me. Crazy thoughts go through your mind.  Believe me, I am a normal person, but my sister-in-law was pregnant at the time and I thought that maybe if she had twins, she would give one to me.  Thank goodness for the passage of time, it does help. Thanks for letting me share this, I rarely talk to anyone about it and many people I know have no idea this happened to me, so many years ago.

I may have to watch again, but I was sure it was a hand-squeeze. I thought that was far-fetched, though I don't know if people that close to death can squeeze someone's hand. Anyway, it seemed like a TIU thing for Rebecca to squeeze his hand.

I played it back a few times, and it was definitely a hand squeeze.

Didn't Rebecca give Jack a birthday cupcake in the pilot? Before she went into labor?

    Yes, that explains it.  Thanks.

  8. I re-watched the episode today, and it was so much better understanding who the other family was from the beginning this time, instead of trying to figure out who they were.  The writers definitely were trying to mess with us, making it look like Deja was going to end up with Marcus. I wasn't reading, texting or doing anything else last night - I was paying attention - the storyline was difficult to follow.  I've read MANY comments here and on Facebook today saying the same thing. I don't think you should have to watch a program twice to "get it."

In the bar scene, did anyone else notice the cupcake with the candle in it, on the bar?  What was that supposed to signify?

I'll have to re-watch the episode, but my initial thought was that the doctor missed diagnosing anything wrong with Jack's heart because he'd been focused on his smoke inhalation. The doctor was shocked that Jack had died in the few minutes he was attending young Marcus. I didn't hear him say, "If only I'd been here instead."

And, like, he was the ONLY doctor on duty in the ER of a major city hospital?  Please.

  10. Let down.  I have cried during previous episodes but didn't shed a tear tonight.  Glad that I could read the explanations here about the other family.  Trying to figure out who those people were took away from the main plot, for me. Seemed so unnecessary and took up too much time.  I usually DVR the show, but watched it in real time tonight.  So many commercials!  I usually fast forward during commercials, they really took away from the show for me. Maybe my expectations were too high after all the hype.

  11. Sunny appears to detest Alyssa. I can see her point. I liked everything Sunny had to say today.  I just think if they give Alyssa a permanent seat at the table it is going to be very uncomfortable. They finally got rid of MM, I just have enjoyed the show so much better without her there.  I don't need any more stress. I really wish that Ana would take the seat, but I guess she doesn't want to move to NY.

  12. I guess Whoopi is only there for the paycheck. She makes it clear with her eye-rolling, facial expressions and fake Valley Girl and English accents that she thinks the show is beneath her. It's irritating to me when they start discussing something I am interested in and she says "Who cares?!" If I only want to watch serious topics, I can turn to CNN.

  13. LOL I Google'd it and found out that Carlson bragged to a church in San Diego last weekend that he hadn't received any of the shots and would not be in the future. So if they do finally talk about it, it will be old news.

What Carlson chooses to do is up to him, but the problem is he has been telling Fox viewers for years that the virus and the vaccine are a bunch of hooey. Where is that karma bus anyway?

  14. Yesterday Joy teased there would be something about Tucker Carlson after the break. I sure did not see anything. Then today, in the opening the announcer said they would be talking about the fact that Tucker has admitted he is not vaccinated.  Still nothing - I don't get it.

  15. The hero worship continued with Erin French last week, who was completely in awe of Ina. She didn't gush as much as Julia - THAT was almost embarrassing to watch.  Today she had Willie Giest on and the worship was not as evident. Ina took him on a tour of the property and that was interesting. Then his wife and Jeffrey joined them on the terrace for cocktails.

To me, those tea lights looked like the kind you can buy dirt cheap by the hundreds at the Mart of Wal.

Exactly!  I have some - I use them at Christmas, but I put them in tea light holders, I don't just set the cheap little metal candles around.

I'm also binging on this show, I love it!  Agree with all Electric Boogaloo said, Erin's story is definitely inspiring!!  I especially like how Erin creatively comes up with the dishes she serves her guests and the way she and her team work together!  Because I'm curious to know more about her story, I ordered her book 'Finding Freedom: A Cook's Story; Remaking a Life From Scratch' and it's scheduled to be delivered today, I know what I'll be doing tonight!!

I just finished the book yesterday.  It was really hard to read at times, what Erin has been through.  But what an inspiring story of starting over, more than once. I was brought to tears at times.  I really admire her.

  18. Random thoughts.  I thought the wall of tea lights was about the dumbest thing I have ever seen.  Who would want to bother to light them/turn them on (if battery-operated)? So "Trading Spaces." And that slide! Completely ridiculous.

I also agree with all the comments about not having a screened-in porch in the back.  I mean, the houses are right on the water.  Mosquitoes? I would imagine that in that area of the country, there would be a lot of flying insects, especially in the summer.  I can never understand the big fold-back glass doors to "open up to the outside." Sure, it would make for a nice unrestricted view, but it would let any number of bugs in the house.  So not practical.

It's fine, I guess, if that's what works for them, but what bothers me is when I'm though less of for knowing how to do things for myself.  LOL. How 1950s of them.  😜

Ha, don't get me started.  One arrives home from work, hands the keys to her hubby and tells him to go fill up her car.  She couldn't stop on the way home?  But as you said, whatever works for them. Luckily they have husbands who are so accommodating.

I'm close to 70, with no chronic or acute health issues (knock on wood), and I probably can lift more than Kate (or the actress). I hate when people treat me as frail. I completely understood Rebecca's frustration at not being allowed to help with anything.

Also, I've known plenty of women who constantly bark at their husbands to take care of whatever is stressing them out at the moment. I don't know how they stay married, but they seem so entitled to me, to just be ordering their husbands around like servants, and then unhappy when they don't perform as they think they should. And expecting everyone to agree with them. It's really hard to watch.

One example: I was explaining to a group of work friends that I had to add windshield washer fluid to the car before driving home (it was a slushy day). One woman snorted derisively and said she didn't even know where to put the fluid, and she had her husband for that. She always reminds him that he needs to "get on that" when it gets low.  👀🤔

That's why I think there is so much feedback against Kate. She seems unreasonable. And Toby is trying to figure out how he got the role of being the person making everything wrong. It's certainly why I have trouble sympathizing with her.

I have two friends who don't even put gas in their own cars.  "That's a husband's job." One says she "doesn't know how." Here in CA where I live, all gas stations are self-service.  I don't know what they will do if they ever find themselves without a husband.

When Kate was nagging all "My 70-year-old mother is moving the mattress!" I thought, okay, but like, you can tell her not to do that and just wait a damn minute for Toby to show up. "Mom, hold on, don't do that. Toby will be here in a minute." Was Kate doing anything to move the mattress?

Agree.  And guess what, 70 is not 90.  Rebecca looks pretty fit and it wasn't like she was going to move the mattress by herself. Kate couldn't help?

Let's face it, Kate is done with Toby at this point and nothing he can say or do will be good enough for her. Like the leak problem. He did a patch job, so to speak, when they couldn't afford a plumber.  He said something to the effect that he was going to take care of it... Once he had a job, they could have discussed getting someone in to do the work. There is no excuse for Kate not handling that from her end in LA.  Sheesh - there was a water stain on the ceiling, you would think that would be a constant reminder to her, whereas Toby is in SF with a new job.  Guess I am on Team Toby here.
