  1. I noticed the "Frasier" reference too. It would've been too precious if he mentioned he loved his Jack Russell terrier, too! Even if this show makes no sense half the time, I just enjoy the actors - they all seem to be having fun with each other. And what took DHP so long to guest on this show? They've had practically every other major theater actor on already, it reminds me of a Drama League luncheon.
  2. There's no way Ashley would've been first without upping her technical content. Anna had two 3-3s and Ashley had none. I think Ashley's program suits her though and plays to her strengths. I saw improvement in her speed and spins but she needs to get the lutz back or a 3-3 to really be competitive.
  3. That one had me LOL - I love it when they have these absurd conversations. I'd love to see the outtakes because how can they say those lines without cracking up? I wonder if they put in the arachnid reference to foreshadow what happens to Katrina in the end.
  4. True, she did some great work with Michelle Kwan and Carolina Kostner. Frank and Lori just don't know what to do w/Gracie, IMO. Her packaging is terrible and it doesn't work for her. Even her EX to "Shake it Off" was better because Gracie looked alive because she was connecting to the song.
  5. I think they would be great at Shakespeare - "Much Ado About Nothing" comes to mind. Haven't seen the ep yet, but I agree with some of the issues this season. But I still watch and enjoy. Can't wait for the yoga scene :)
  6. So I watched the commentary on Eurosport 2 (it's on Youtube) vs. Johnny, Tara & Terry. Love Terry and Johnny, Tara really doesn't add anything to the conversation. She said Samantha was inconsistent which is BS. Even Johnny called her out on it (in a nice way) and Terry said she was the only skater who didn't fall last season on the GP. Contrast that with the Eurosport guys who loved her Carmen and said she deserved to be placed over Gracie. I don't think Sammi is the best skater ever or her Carmen is the best ever, but she sells the hell out of her programs and doesn't falter. The only valid thing Tara said was her step sequence and spins aren't at the highest level which is true. Johnny was spot on about Gracie not being her "off ice" self on the ice. And Terry didn't like the vocals, LOL. And yes, NBC's coverage was awful, considering that US skaters took #2 in pairs and #1 and #2 in Ice Dance. And they didn't even show Mirai's nice comeback in the FS. And I was right that Radionova would take the gold. She did look a little rough around the edges, more than usual, even though she skated well. She is all arms and legs still. Looking forward to Skate Canada next weekend!
  7. This thread on Golden Skate's forum should answer that.
  8. Since IceNetwork charges $50 to watch the streaming and I don't have Universal Sports, I will be relying on NBC (or possibly Youtube vids of the international streams from Eurosport?) Hope they show some of the US men during the coverage - I'm sure they'll show Jason and Jeremy at least since people know them from the Olympic team. I also imagine we'll see the ShibSibs and Chock & Bates for dance. Good luck to Samantha, Mirai and Gracie who are all competing at Skate America! Hope at least one of them winds up on the podium :) My money's on Elena Radionova to take the ladies' gold.
  9. I think they will go this way too. I also think it will give Crane the opportunity to be protective of her, since he hasn't hid his distaste of Hawley. He should have thanked him for saving her life though! Orlando Jones was live tweeting last night - his tweets are hilarious. He used the hashtag #Crane on the Brain, lol.
  10. So did the recapper, so it wasn't an accident (see upthread for recap)
  11. Could she be Jane Bolin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Bolin? I finally recognized who's playing Mabel - the face reminded me of Zoe Kazan and it turns out it's her sister Maya. The scene where Willie was dumped in front of his office and then went up to work all dirty and disheveled reminded me of the end of Scorsese's "After Hours" when Griffin Dunne did the same thing. Given Scorsese is an exec producer of BE, I don't think the similarity was an accident. "After Hours" is a great movie - time capsule of NYC downtown wackos in the 80s. RIP Mickey Doyle.
  12. Or one of him burning his tongue by drinking it too fast (it's hot under the foam - indeed). I enjoy this show - it really reminds me of the early X-Files days - with the creepy music, flashlights and guns in the dark, monster of the week as well as the shippiness. I hope this show avoids the mistakes that one made in its final years (it went on way too long). What I also really like is the diversity of the cast where many of these genre shows are still whitewashed. This ep, while not its best, was up there with some of the good X-Files MOTW episodes. Happy that the World Series starts on Tuesday next week, so we still get our SH fix!
  13. All of the Alicia stuff notwithstanding, I really enjoyed Veronica's spanking of that brat. There are too many kids like that who are allowed to run rampant without any consequences or discipline. The mom's reaction was priceless when they showed her the video of the kid tipping over mannequins and kicking the old lady (which was overkill). She was probably more pissed that what her little angel did was caught on camera than at what he actually did wrong. I know too many parents like this, unfortunately. On a superficial note, Eli's wig is now more distracting than Alica's wig. So is Peter sleeping with the intern's mother, then?
  14. ITA. I loved when he started screaming at Capone "I am NELSON VAN ALDEN, HEAR ME ROAR" and then his head got blown off. I think they showed that lingering shot at his corpse to say "Yeah, folks, he's dead!" Michael Shannon needs an Emmy nod - he was perfect in this role. He's busy making movies (he's in the upcoming 99 Homes w/Andrew Garfield) and does the occasional play in NY, so I don't worry for his career. As for Capone, well his goose is cooked. So even if Van Alden died, he did play an instrumental role in getting the ledgers that will send Al to prison.
  15. I've been less than impressed with what we've gotten so far this season, except Timothy Busfield's OTT Ben Franklin (that old thirtysomething connection). I feel like they have been setting up the rest of the season with these eps, so I'm giving them a shot to raise the bar. And Mison is ridiculously hot anyway, especially when he's ranting about credit cards. I felt absolutely nothing when he kissed Katrina - zero chemistry there. I suppose that's on purpose to show the Ichabbie bond. Why does Henry need Irving's blood? Or was he signing with his own blood? Either way not a good option for Irving. And always read what you're signing!
  16. I kind of found the Frozen scenes a bit clunky but the actress playing Elsa is doing a nice job making her three dimensional. I guess OUAT wants to have 6 year old girls tune in. At least nobody is singing "Let it Go" or even said that (yet). Nice to see Sidney back. I guess after Revolution was canceled, Giancarlo Esposito was available for work. There was a weird continuity issue during his scene with Regina in the cell. I'm not even sure the actors were in the same room. When they shot the back of Regina's head, someone standing in for her and wearing a much shorter wig than Lana's hair. Found it very distracting. I don't mind Evil Regina even if it's a case of wash, rinse, repeat. It took her a long time to give her heart to Robin and now he's broken it. You can't just expect her to go on without falling into her old habits. And I'm interested to see where the "writer" is.
  17. Or as Johnny calls him "Sir Terence" lol. Glad Scott and his yelling are gone along with Sandra and her vapid comments. I don't love Tara, but Johnny and Terry are good commentators and she's part of the package deal. Agreed. The Jewfro is not a good look for him (I'm Jewish with curly hair so I feel his pain). He should stick to the short hair, it's too distracting for him and the audience. I watched the Lombardia trophy (videos here ) and was very impressed with Richard (Ricky) Dornbush who captured the lead of the men. Not a fan of Coldplay's music, but his skating was very good - some nice spins and jumps and connected with his music, he's also doing 'tano lutzes like Jason Brown. He's one to watch this season. Also impressed with Japan's Satoko Miyahara and Hannah Miller of the US who came in 1st and 2nd of the ladies. Satoko looks much less juniorish and her Miss Saigon program looked near perfect to me this early in the season. Hannah has great jumps and a lot of energy - she may emerge as a contender this year. Michael Christian Martinez (Philippines) who made a splash in Sochi, skated to "Phantom" (POTO) and came in 3rd, I think. He's another talent on the horizon and already has a lot of fans. So sick of POTO but he did a good job. Glad the skating drought is over and we're warming up for the Grand Prix season. Good Luck to all the skaters!
  18. She's also won TWO Tony awards. I saw her in "The Assembled Parties" last year and she was fab. It still creeps me out that she is only four years older than Mitch Pileggi.
  19. Janel Parrish did say we would be seeing Mona in flashbacks in her message to fans. So I guess she really is dead. I was kind of hoping we would see her eye blink at the end but, oh well. JP is one of the best things about PLL so I'm glad we'll still have her around in 5B, or whatever season we're starting in January. Ali's new hallway crew looked just like the PLL stand-ins. The timeline confuses me as well. Wasn't Halloween when they went to Ravenswood and found out that Ali was alive? And don't get me started on Toby's police academy training. Aria's Thanksgiving outfit was truly horrifying. I'm convinced the girl is colorblind.
  20. Bill's death was so drawn out so when Sookie finally staked him, I cheered. Talk about insufferable. In the end, if didn't matter who Sookie ended up with, as long as he was a human who could impregnate her. Oddly enough there were a few happy human/vampire couples at the table but I suppose having kids the natural way isn't important to them (esp James/Lala). It reminded me of the epilogue in Harry Potter where everyone married a Weasley and had 2.5 kids. The only person who didn't have a happy ending was Sarah, who is reaping what she's sown. I did have to laugh at the infomercial that Pam & Eric did in the epilogue and them ringing the bell at the Stock Exchange.
  21. All of these partner changes are making my head spin. Wow, I thought Joubert was retiring. Too bad he and Valentina aren't pairing up - that would be a sexy pair for sure.
  22. I wish Hanna hadn't ripped up Zach's number if she was going to tell Aria. She would have proof that he hit on her. Poor Piper/Ella, I hope she finds out before they get married. Troian's wig is back. I'm assuming she cut or dyed her hair for another role and she's wearing the wig. Toby looks much better with his haircut. I think the A tag was Melissa. She was in the Hastings house, caressing her riding cap fondly and then dug something up under the couch cushion. I wish they had shown what she was looking for. Ali is back to being her manipulative self. Having Noel Kahn pose as "A" was genius. I bet she's used him before, too. Just show him again next time.
  23. I don't want Hanna to have a drinking problem, although having Ali as a friend would drive anyone to drink. Now that she and Caleb are back together (yay!), maybe they can help each other deal with their demons. I almost thought that Melissa was going to confess something about Bethany to Spencer, but alas nothing. She's guilty of something. Nice knowing you Eddie. Congrats to Ella & Zach - A better not mess up their engagement party.
  24. Tanner reminds me of the detective in "Dial M for Murder." Norbuck (Norman Buckley, who directed the last couple of eps) tweeted about that Hitchcock film recently so I wonder if she was being directed that way. If only PLL plots made as much sense as Hitch's films. What made no sense to me was to WHY she was inquiring about Shana. Yeah, she was a resident of Rosewood, but she didn't die there, so where's her jurisdiction? But I enjoy seeing Ezra and Ali squirm so it's okay.
  25. I thought this episode was so uneven. We did not need the flashbacks at all, they did nothing to add to the story. I'm also confused as to why Alistair was a Beast, but Vincent is a beast b/c of Muirfield? Did some kind of Muirfield exist in the 1850s? Or just coincidence. I loved that the last scene was actually filmed in NYC, not Toronto. Don't get me wrong, Toronto is a great city (heading there for TIFF in September) but it's not NY. Ding dong, Gabe is dead. Finally. I like that Cat wound up killing him, not Vincent. The shot of poor JT hung from the ceiling was pretty shocking, although I doubted they would kill him off. Not buying Tess and him as a couple although I thought Nisa did a good job showing how upset she was that he might not survive. I suppose we have to wait until next Spring to see the new season? That's fine, I'm not itching to see what happens next. I do like this show overall, hope it improves next season.
