  1. As usual, the cop side of the show was infinitely stronger than the court side. The court side was extremely poorly written IMO. And I found the lack of closure infuriating. What a lame cop-out. They are ruining the legacy of this once-great show.
  2. I agree, it feels a little stale at this point to have someone on the law enforcement and/or legal team have a personal connection to the case of the week. This used to happen very rarely, which was more realistic and made the episode feel more unique and special. Now, it happens every episode, so it feels very formulaic to me. We have had 5 episodes so far and it's happened in every single one! The one where ADA Maroun got so personally invested she almost talked to a witness without their lawyer present risking her career, the one where ADA Price's dad was in the hospital on life support while the case was about when life legally begins and ends, the one where Officer Riley's brother was an informant and reneged on his deal to testify, this one where Officer Shaw got so personally invested in the 13 year old defendant, and the one where Det. Benson felt so strongly for the defendant that she did everything she could to sabotage the prosecution (including giving the defense team legal advice and even testifying for the defense!) I guess that means the next two episodes will feature personal connections to Baxter and the new Lt.! The principal wasn't completely innocent and he didn't follow protocol. Definitely grounds for him to face consequences such as lose his job or face a wrongful death lawsuit. But criminally liable? 5 years did seem harsh to me.
  3. My, oh my… the courtroom half of this episode was bonkers. I get that the writers wanted to address the ambiguities of where life begins and ends, but that debate would never occur in front of a jury in the middle of a first degree murder trial. No sane defense attorney would make that argument to a jury and expect to win in these circumstances. If your only defense to the crime is “my victim isn’t completely, 100% dead quite yet”, you might as well take a plea deal. No jury is going to acquit on that basis and split hairs about what “death” means. Not after hearing the apparently uncontested testimony that he made a pipe bomb, paid for someone to deliver it to the victims home, intended for her to die and did in fact put her in the hospital brain dead, unconscious and only being kept physically alive by machines. Oh, and he also did the same thing to another person but the police were able to stop the bomb from going off in the nick of time. Oh, and also took a hostage when police came to arrest him. But, hey, they presented a dr who says there’s a 0.0001% chance that the victim may one day regain consciousness, so let’s ignore all that and acquit this monster. No jury would ever do that! Ridiculous to expect that defense would ever work in front of a jury. In reality, once the defense lost the motion to dismiss on the issue of whether or not the victim was dead in the eyes of the law they would pursue other defenses. And preserve the issue regarding the victims death for appellate purposes but they would never ever put all their eggs in that basket. Just bad and unrealistic writing IMO.
  4. Meh, the DE results are disappointing. Great season folks, but boring endgame. Ah well.
  5. Dang… RIP Jankie. We hardly knew ye!
  6. Kimo/Angela, the two perma-pawns, are likely going up on the block once again. They are the most boring, uninspired choice of nominees possible. So I shouldn’t be surprised that’s what Makensky is going with.
  7. HAHA you are totally right. I think Chelsie and Cam have landed on the correct game move in keeping Angela over Kimo, but I don't see any benefit to telling her ahead of time. Her paranoia makes it way too risky. Whether you tell her good news or bad news, she is at least as likely not to believe and trust you as she is to believe you. No sense in telling her anything. It just puts you in the line of her paranoia's fire. It doesn't even have to be rational, she still may well not believe you. Also, Angela is so much more docile when she is on the block as opposed to when she is safe. The other HGs must have noticed. They probably put her up week after week not just as part of their strategy, but also for self-preservation!
  8. Seeing the first HG evicted ranked higher than all but 3 people still in the house is cracking me up.
  9. lol… that was a brutal punishment, but if it’s the one I’m thinking of it wasn’t Basic-Becky-Face-Trainwrecky. It was Brittany from BB16. She had to kick an absurd number of soccer goals in 24 hours. It amounted to more than 1 goal every 30 seconds or so. Would have to kick them even more frequently if you wanted time to sleep or even just take a break. Just brutal.
  10. Quinn is terrible at this game. How in the world can he think announcing his plans to anyone who will listen is helpful to his game? Or does he know it’s a bad move and just lacks the self-control to stop from telling on himself? I truly don’t understand.
  11. The point was to keep up appearances. One of the strongest advantages of the Deepfake HoH power he won was that he could takeover the true HoH’s nominations *in secret*. He effectively forfeited this aspect of the power by blabbing about it to Angela and Kimo, so by the time he got around to actually using the power the whole house knew who actually made the nominees. If Quinn had kept his power a secret, all 10 eligible voters would need to go into the DR in order to keep it a secret who actually made the nominations. If Quinn didn’t go in to vote it would have been obvious to the other HGs that he was the Deepfake HoH. so you’re right that it seemed a little silly for Quinn to go in and pretend to vote given everyone already knew he was the Deepfake HoH. However, if he played his power in secret like he should have, it would have been essential to do that so production didn’t out him to the others.
  12. Ugh I totally agree… I want Quinn to go home. He sure is cocky with very little reason to be. Sure, he won the comp to earn the power and he gets credit for that. But he has played that power horribly. He neutered a major part of the power (stealthily taking over the noms making it look like the HOH comp winner made the noms) by telling some people about it and getting exposed publicly. It’s still a strong power to be able to make the noms, but his gameplay weakened it substantially because now everyone will know he made them when he could have pinned it on someone else. He’s made some big mistakes and I’m not sure he’ll recover from them. Other HGs (like Makensy and Cedric and Cam) are saying they still want to work with him, but how much of that is out of fear of his power? I think once he uses it this week, a lot of these HGs will recognize that he’s got a dozen alliances and question his loyalty to them. Makensy for sure should realize this when he noms her today. Which, again, Quinn could have easily avoided if he kept his power secret. None of the heat from these noms would have fallen on him.
  13. Glad they are noticing this. The female houseguests must take the opportunity to vote him off if he’s still on the block come eviction night. He will always be looking to bro out and will not work with the women. Heck, the female houseguests shouldn’t even want him on the jury because he’d likely vote for any male houseguest over any female houseguest. Angela is cray-cray, but at least she’s equal-opportunity cray-cray, ya know?
  14. I must say, as much as I dislike the fact that the AI Arena twist will favor comp-beast-type players, it’s not all that bad. An interesting side effect of the twist is that we are going into the live show and the eviction is not a complete foregone conclusion for a change. It does make things less predictable and it makes it a bit more complex for the contestants to game plan their votes. I’m intrigued to see this all play out on tonight’s show.
  15. No tribal council?! What an absolute load of crap. The Purple tribe lost the challenge. It is completely unfair that their Tribal Council was cancelled as if that challenge had never occurred. It makes no sense at all and leaves a bad taste in my mouth as a viewer. So, we have sat through 5.5 hours of Survivor so far and only seen 2 tribal councils. Yikes. This season is off to a slow, disappointing start.
