A while back someone posted a picture of Meri and a guy sitting across from each other at a restaurant.  Some wondered if it was a date.  Others thought it might have been Kooter's brother.  Could it have been this fellow?

It is.  Reddit brought back the pictures and it's definitely him.

I WAS rooting for Austin until he said he was fine to lose if it meant Dee won, and when he sold out the plan to Dee because "he felt bad". The moment he showed his head isn't in the game, it solidified that he's just too bad of a player for me to want to see win.

To be fair, they didn't know Julie had an idol; only the Reba 4 knew.

ETA: Unless I'm wrong about that. I know Drew/Austin emphasized it has to be a total blindside, but I didn't think it was because everyone knew about the idol.

Totally agree about Austin.  I liked him and am definitely down for some eye candy doing well but by the end of the episode I really wanted Julie to write his name down!

And I do blame Austin (doubly) and Drew for not emphasizing that Julie had an idol and they should split the vote or something.  Those two knew she had an idol and that there was a possibility that she might play it so they were complete idiots.

Not sure if this is true, I was reading on reddit, that a viewer was in the Flagstaff area.  They went to eat at Salsa Brava and was speaking to one of the wait staff and they said that they were very chatty about the Browns.  That person said that K&R have moved to the Cottonwood property.  Makes me wonder if K&R bought the other property too.  Then again it could just be a rumor.

I'm pretty sure that Reddit thread says they moved to Cottonwood, AZ which is a town near Sedona.  Supposed to be cheaper than Flagstaff.

Keeping your name/brand out there in the public eye is important to celebrities. About 20 years ago, there was a kind of game you could play on the Internet that used Celebrities "Q scores". I didn't play it and I couldn't find anything about it now. You would choose your fantasy team of celebrities and then if you had the highest total Q scores you would win. Q scores measure a celebrities "clout" or importance, popularity, etc.

Some of these celebrities probably don't stand to get much from keeping their names in the public eye.  Seems like the younger "Bachelor/Bachelorette" type celebs may benefit for more reality gigs and influencer-type stuff but what is Tara Reid going to get?  Even relative well-known athletes like Robert Horry and Dez Bryant aren't really going to have doors open up to them in my opinion.

I think there's a good chance that the money plus the challenge are a motive for most.

Billie is really eating up his role as head DS. In the UK version, they made Rudy head DS so I wonder why they went with Billie in the US. I guess Foxy has just never been mean enough to get the gig! 😘

I still kind of miss Ant from the original, but I see Ant is heading up the AU version now, which also includes Ollie, who was my favorite DS of all. This show must be a real money maker with all the different versions going on year-round. I tend to enjoy the non-celebrity one best, but I do like the snowy change up as I was getting sick of the desert!

Is Tom Sandoval the one who was married to the woman who is currently on Dancing With the Stars? I don't know either of them, or who did what to whom, but I guess that is one way to make the most of one's divorce!

I think so.  I wasn't sure if they were married or just boyfriend/girlfriend but either way he cheated on her and became reviled.  He's such a baby about it though.  I can't stand him.  lol

    I dunno...

Sifu strikes me as dumb enough to swallow whatever lies he might be fed. So there might be a lie to tell him that would advance Dee's game, or at least to be harmless to Dee.

It could be that Dee tries to put the blame on either J. Maya and Julie for voting Sifu, either saying one of them literally wrote his name down or saying that they were advocating his ouster (which happens to be true).

Telling the truth about writing his name down might come back to bite her in the ass down the road, and it could be a short road. Sifu strikes me as the sort to be reflexively: you wrote my name down that once, so I'm going to do everything I can to get you voted out, even if it's objectively worse for me.

It could be that Julie and J. Maya decide at their next Tribal that they'd rather have Sifu with his goofy but strong self around to give them a shot at a challenge win than Dee, and try to vote Dee out.

If I was Dee, I would claim I did not want anything to do with a player quitting so didn't want to vote for Sean after his speech.

Also couldn't vote for my girls and knew no one (including Sean and make up some conversation they had if necessary) would vote for Sifu so it was a safe decision to throw my vote on him knowing the others would probably vote for Sean no matter what.

It might even make her seem more credible that Sean voted for her.

Jeff mentioned in his podcast that he thought making that comment to Sean about the experience made Sean think he was actually being voted off.   But Sean denied that.  He really didn’t make sense in his exit interviews as to why he quit, but he does seem sorry.

They mentioned that in the Parade article too.  I think it's possible but even so, Sean was a mess and I'm glad he has some regrets (otherwise I would worry about him).  lol

  7. I read his Q&A from Parade magazine where he said a lot of what @LadyChatts posted above, but to me it seems he was a bit of a mess.

Saying that he wished he articulated better because he was TRYING to say that he got what he could from Survivor and realized that he wasn't going to get his past back or whatever.  He has some regrets about quitting.

Seems like Jeff's question and then Sean's response to it led Sean further and further down the thought process of being done with Survivor when he hadn't really felt that way going into Tribal Council. lol A. Mess.

There's a difference between cash flow/income and building wealth over a lifetime. Janelle may have money for living expenses and occasional trips, but at her age she was hoping to have some equity in property after all the money she contributed to the family pot (an inheritance, a 401K, her profit from Vegas).

"I have nothing" doesn't mean she's impoverished, just that she hasn't been able to accumulate any assets in her own name because of how the family's finances were structured and Kody's lack of prioritizing her.

So why not take some of her cash flow and buy something?  I know it's not as simple as that, but give up on coyote pass and get something for yourself instead of continuing to make bad decisions.

    Yes, not a memorial service.

Stupid question, but what's the difference between memorial service and funeral?  My brother's service was technically a memorial service since he wasn't buried, right?  He was Mormon although not active.  I was raised Mormon and have been to other memorial services although they are not as common as a burial/funeral.

Maybe being in the same room with him then made her so uncomfortable she's not willing to repeat that experience.

Speaking from personal experience, when you have PTSD from abuse, what you can handle or how you feel can change from day to day.

For me, I went to my brother's funeral where my abusive brother was and thought I could handle it.  I did well through 1.5 days until just before the actual service when I had a major panic attack and had to leave for my own mental health and to prevent me causing any scene.  Now some of my family won't talk to me because I missed the funeral even though I had become almost suicidal in my panic attack.  I thought leaving was the best thing for everyone but they see it as attention-seeking behavior.

Maybe Gwen told Christine she would try but had to see how she was feeling on the day.  I hope Christine can understand although surely she was disappointed.

ETA:  I'm sure Gwen wanted to be there just as I wanted to be at my brother's funeral as he was like a father to me. But sometimes what we want and what we can actually do are two different things.

I totally agree as well.  And to claim it's fair because they all have the same weight is disingenuous, IMHO.  It could be a percentage of their body weight and still be very challenging.  It's not like any of these contestants are really going to join the special forces.  I felt sorry for her.

Was it Dez who talked about having a father in hospice, and a son turning 13 while he was on the show?  Seems like a time to say "Now is just a not a good time for me to do this show".

It was Dez's son's birthday but Robert Horry (another favorite athlete of mine) whose father is on hospice.

  12. Wow.  As a Dallas fan, I did not really see Dez quitting although the impulsive temper didn't surprise me.  For a second I thought they might let him stay but glad they upheld the rules.

Not at all surprised by Tara and Angela quitting.  I kind of agree with Tara about the pack too.

The Chrisley girl throwing up was crazy gross.  I'm impressed that she stayed with it and then volunteered to go again!  Vomit is the worst.

  13. I ended up really liking this show last season and cheering a lot for the last two ladies even though I didn't know who they were originally.  I'm hoping this cast is as engaging as last.

I was surprised that Dez Bryant - being a pro athlete - was the one throwing up after the rock-carrying obstacle course.  I give so much respect to Tara Reid for doing that course!  But the cigarettes were so stupid.  lol

I read that Jon's ex-girlfriend posted on social media today that when she and Jon broke up, Jon and Hannah moved out, but Collin stayed and lived with her for quite a while.  This explains Colin's nice words about her on social media in his graduation post and also his tribute to her on Mother's Day.  She debunked what Kate said about Colin.

    eta:  Here is Colleen's post:

I just read that and came here to say that I trust Colleen where I don't trust either Jon or Kate...to fully put aside their self-interest and tell the honest truth about Collin.  Colleen is what Collin looks like with a kind and loving mother figure in his life. Pure and simple.

I'm not rewatching old seasons, but I remember there were enough times where Tim's advice was to do the exact thing that the judges ended up hating when the advice was followed.  Ouch.  I like Christian better.

You mean like Christian telling Rami that he just HAD to make the skirt?  That the judges hated? lol

I think both of them have had their moments where the judges opinions have been the exact opposite of their advice because the judges are wack a lot of the time.

Mady was the biggest brat on the show and is a mini-Kate so I tend to take what she says with a grain of salt.  I'm not saying Colin didn't act up, but did he always act up or did he act up because of the way he was treated by Kate?  And even if there's truth to Mady's version, why didn't Kate visit Colin at the hospital more than once a year?  Abandoning him couldn't have helped his mental state.

There are so many inconsistencies.  Mady says that Colin has made his opinions clear in private and that Colin has physically threatened her/them as recently as last year.  So they saw each other last year and they talked in private?  I thought it had been years since Colin and his siblings last communicated.

The truth could be somewhere in the middle.  It's like the old saying: there's my side, your side, and what really happened.

This is exactly what I thought.  I get that Collin has been abused and has anger issues and maybe worse.  I've been there too.  But her statement seems disingenuous at best given the facts that we know.

As Collin said, he wasn't perfect and he acted out but he sees it one way and Kate spun it another to his siblings.  When you are in a traumatic situation (as a child being on the receiving end of the anger of a sibling can be), it can then be magnified by what your parent tells you or how they respond to it.  By Kate sending Collin away and then not even visiting him and saying God knows what about his behavior to the other kids, she probably sent a message that Collin was at fault or worse. Which is probably not fair to Collin.

It's a sad situation for sure.  Jon was a total ass when the divorce happened.   I don't think he deserves to be estranged from his children but he created the opportunity and Kate took advantage of it.  But he redeemed himself for me for saving Hannah and Collin.

Since there's no thread for Special Forces, I'm posting here just to say that after seven episodes, ten people have left and there are now only six people left.  (They started with 16.)  As you recall, Kate left on the first day.  The thing is, as much as she cried and complained, the tasks have only gotten tougher and tougher each day.

I'm mostly enjoying the show!   Especially now that a lot of the drama stuff is gone.  Kate could never have done these tasks (to be fair, neither could I but I wish I could have tried when I was younger and athletic!).

  18. Pretty sure she had it written into her contact that she would only be on the first episode and had to be removed before she had to sleep/poop with the rest of the peeps.  lol

She was so cringe but I liked the show overall.

The fact that Colin was sent away at 12 and his Kate-custody siblings still no longer speak to him at 18 makes me think that Kate’s influence has a lot to do with it.

The fact that Kate put him somewhere and basically threw him away at that age is reprehensible. She didn’t have him visit home or visit with him? Did she even write to him? Did they do family counseling? It’s very sad for Colin that he was abandoned by his mother, yet he still wishes for a relationship with her.

In Pennsylvania you can’t just have someone committed to an institution legally for years and years. It ‘s not that easy. Kate must have paid a private “institution” to get rid of Colin because she couldn’t handle him. I hope it wasn’t something like KidsPeace, because they have a less than stellar reputation.

Also from an early age he was Kate's whipping boy (besides Jon).  That surely tainted the other children's view of Collin and also his view of himself.

I'm sure he did have emotional problems from what he has said and that probably alienated his siblings further.

Being on TV... not being loved by his mother while watching her love seven other children...the divorce...both parent's not being the greatest...  Poor kid never had a chance at normal and happy.

It's hard to judge if someone's reaction was appropriate or justified in a reality show, because of the level of editing involved.  Both Sommer and Abe seem like less than pleasant people in general, which doesn't help.

It did seem like the rest of the guys of Team Blue didn't agree with Abe's behavior though.  I appreciated seeing them criticize him for confronting a girl half his age like that, whether he was right or wrong.

True.  And I hate when (usually) men tell women to "smile" or otherwise force something on them such as shaking hands at an unwanted time.  So I'm biased.
