    From Kody’s Instagram bio:

    Kody Brown
Father of eighteen, husband to four. I love 'em all. Passionate about INDIVIDUAL rights. Apologetic for taking that "red pill"... dang it!!
    Awake!

I never understood what he meant by the red pill...I thought it was a Matrix reference... but I don’t understand a lot of what Kody says.  I kinda forget he’s on social media unless the show is on at the time, and  I spend what little time I’m on social media looking up pictures of dogs 🐶.

The "red pill" and Awake! are both from QAnon.  Red pilling is seeing "reality" and they also use it as a term for converting people and Awake means you know the truth that the rest of the world doesn't/won't see.

Also his "where we go one we go all" is also QAnon.

I think it sucks that Gabriel lost because Nelson overcooked his fish, then Nelson quit. If Nelson had quit before the actual challenge Gabriel would still be on the show. The judges thought that his Elk was the best cooked piece of meat in the whole challenge, then he gets kicked off and the person responsible for the problem quits anyway.

I don't fully disagree, but I think that you can say the meat was cooked the best without saying that it was the best meat of the day.  He cooked it perfectly.  Were the flavors and creativity as good as some of the other dishes?  Maybe not.

I feel bad for him as well, but if it were me, I would want to go out having cooked something well.  And he did.  The judges made a point of saying there was no bad dish, per se. There is no shame for Gabriel.  Except not having been to that part of Oregon when he's grown up there.

Hell, I'VE been there a few times and I live in California!  (to be fair I have family in Portland and Southwestern Washington, so I make a point to stop there when I visit the fam.)

Whatcha want to bet that Colette takes him back...eventually? She actively pursued an addict and chose to get pregnant. I got the impression she is objectifying him a bit - because he's handsome and charismatic she pursued him and is determined to have him.

    Hope I'm wrong.

Well, I didn't have much sympathy for her, but to be fair I think he was clean when they met and got together.  Then she was too stupid to dump his ass for three years - even after she got pregnant.

Hopefully him breaking into her apartment scared her completely off of him.

  5. Someone posted on Reddit that Mykelti had a "live" on Friday and someone asked her about Christine moving to Utah.  Mykelti replied (paraphrasing the paraphrased Reddit post) 'Nope, she's not moving.  She's staying with Dad and the wives.'

I could see this. Also Christine was the primary caregiver to Janelle's kids while Janelle worked outside of the home. I think when the kids were growing up, Christine felt more purpose and was able to get her emotional needs met as a mother/caregiver. Its clear that ALL of the kids have an emotional attachment to Christine. Now the only one that needs a "caretaker" in the emotional sense is Truely (not that the adult kids don't love Christine any more, I am sure they would happy to have her come visit and spend holidays, but they dont need her day to day presence in their lives).

Christine is now less fulfilled and has more time to think and reflect about her life. A lot of stay at home parents go through this when their child/children get to be adolescents, or people that have been full time caregivers to their parents and the parents pass away.

Which makes it even more heinous that Kody had the audacity to say "love the family and I will love you" or whatever the fuck nonsense he was spouting.

Christine is really the ONLY adult in the family who has EVER loved "the family".

    These people.

I am surpised by that in the sense that Kootie wasn't there to be front and center.  Sobyn's control is a fist of iron, isn't it.  To deny him a starring role in a birth is impressive.

However, fame whores that they are, I am not surprised that it was filmed.

True but Sobyn made sure to get on camera via Zoom for the whole thing so...  I know Mykelti likes her blah blah blah, but now we know why she was there fore the whole labor and delivery via zoom.

So my DVR cut off at the end.  Did Amber  relapse and is she with Olivia?

My honest opinion is that Olivia’s ex- husband should have sued Olivia for custody since Olivia was harboring an addict in her home who was stealing money.  Possibly enough money that she was getting deep enough into the checking account to get into the child support money.   She was definitely stealing mortgage money.

Even worse, the kids were refusing to come of  their rooms at one point during the show while Amber was there.

Olivia was delusional.  She acted more like Amber’s mother than her girlfriend

I just could not understand that dynamic.  The ex told Amber he loved her when he was hugging her before she left for the rehab.  He said it first too; it was unprompted.  While I guess Amber isn't a bad person aside from the stealing, I just don't understand how the ex got so close to her and full of love. Something just ain't right. Or a lot of somethings are missing.

As soon as they mentioned the kids not coming out of their rooms, I was completely done with Amber, Olivia, and the ex.  Terrible, terrible parenting.  Those poor kids. But yet Olivia will coddle Amber to death and wait for everyone to give her kudos.

I thought it was very interesting point too they  made about how a lot of people move to Las Vegas and don't have a support system to help navigate stuff. I never thought about that. Also, they were a little fuzzier on the "How does he make his money to afford alcohol" than they usually are on this show. But maybe they wanted to be a little lighter on him given how everything played out.

My daughter pointed out that he had what looked like a "cam boy" set up in his apartment, so he may have been making money that way.

Oh man...don't even get me started on the masking sitch. I live in a small town on the West Coast. I've worn masks almost from go, and in the early days I would actually have people say nasty stuff to me because I was masked. I never saw it as a political statement but as a courtesy to my fellow humans and a nod to, y'know, science and safe public health policy.

I have never been to a store in my town where there aren't at least a handful (and usually more) of maskless people running around, looking defiant, and glaring at people in masks. In fact, somewhere is a YouTube video of our county Sheriff telling a gathered gun-toting maskless mob (not kidding here, this actually happened) not to be "sheeple" and that he won't enforce masking in HIS county.

So I travel 20 minutes north to shop in a county where people do wear masks (including the Sheriff), and it is rare to see someone without one. I don't understand why wearing a mask is a line in the sand...I mean, I don't love it, but I would hate to be the reason someone became gravely ill. I decided to lean in...so I have super cute masks. Plus, it's given me the opportunity to work on my smize, so Tyra Banks et all would be thrilled.

Hi Lewis County!  I have family in Centralia and Grays Harbor County.  :)  I completely agree with everything you posted and have had the same experience even here in Sacramento area California.

I'm by no means defending their decisions re: Ysabel's scoliosis treatment. I'm a retired early, advanced Registry  Xray/CT/MRI Tech. I worked in the field for 35 years, and saw horrific images of people who had chiropractic adjustments.

That said..my aunt converted to mainstream LDS right after I was born. She would visit chiropractor before an MD. She took herbal remedies, etc. The SW remind me of her.

I've been reading Dorothy Solomon Allred's book, Daughter Of the Saints. Rulon was a chiropractor who utilised holistic and homeopathic remedies taught him by his mom. In the 1950s. I believe its an Old West tradition, with chiropractic methods as a "modern" twist. Add to that, most polygamists back then, didn't have insurance..it became part of their upbringing.

    Especially for Christine Allred. Imo.

I was raised mainstream LDS and my parents took us to a "friend" who was a church member in a different ward (not sure how my dad met him if it was outside the church) for chiro adjustments almost weekly.  To this day, I will not see a chiro.  I really, really hated it.

Dr. Elkins had an office and practice, but we always went to his house where he also had an office.  "Say popcorn!" as he snapped my neck... *shudder*

Back on topic, I am afraid that Christine just thinks a move back to Utah will bring Kody back in line.  He's obviously so far from any kind of religious beliefs at this point.

Christine is completely guilty of neglecting Ysabel, but I also think that she had to raise the money and figure out the logistics of child care, etc., because Kody sure wasn't going to help out at all.

    I hate him.

I only started watching this season, but this show seems a bit ridiculous. 50 minutes of build up, and then a 2 minute intervention where everyone immediately agrees to go to rehab, and successfully in the next 3 minutes, quits whatever addiction they had. Not at all realistic IMO.

    18 hours ago, mythoughtis said:

Please watch older episodes on a&e or elsewhere.  Not everyone agrees to go to rehab.  Not every intervention is 2 minutes of fun.  Not everyone stays in rehab or stays clean afterwards.  Not everyone even lives actually.
The beauty of  this show is that 1- addicts  who accidentally watch it can find hope for themselves. 2- if each episode is watched by teens and even just one an episode decides to not try the  stuff in the first place, a life is saved, 3- childhood trauma is real and maybe some parents can learn what to watch for.

Honestly, I've found this season a bit refreshing because all the other seasons have had so many asshole addicts, fucked-up family members, and depressing outcomes.  And I guess with good old 'Rona and everything else, I'm already depressed enough.  It's been nice to see some hopefully good outcomes.  Although I don't have much hope for Lexi.

It's easiest and cheapest? Ignoring the personalities and dynamics, at least in the present, one house would seem to make the most sense. It's a single build; one mortgage, one set of utility bills, housekeeping responsibilities divided amongst the adults. More time for Kody to spend with the wives since he's not commuting from home to home. More keeping with the spirit of them being one single family.

If he dies without a will, everything goes to his next of kin, in this case, Robyn, his legal wife. She also would be the one to make legal and medical decisions for him if he were incapacitated (more than his usual level). I wonder ... added to my never-ending list of financial wonders about this family, if they have actually taken the time to draft wills (if not for all of them, at least for Kody). And does he/they have life insurance? That's not cheap either and as far as I can tell, there's no employer to provide it.

In Arizona probate law, intestate succession (if Kody dies without a Will) would leave anything that is not disposed by a Will or Trust (or life insurance) as follows:

If you die with:  a spouse and descendants from you and someone other than that spouse, here’s what happens:

    • spouse inherits 1/2 of your separate property but no interest in the 1/2 of the community property that belonged to you
    • children inherit 1/2 of separate property and the 1/2 of the community property that belonged to you

So Robyn will probably make sure Kody has a Will that leaves everything to her/her children.  😞

  17. After some reading here and seeing Kollene Snow referenced (I love her on Escaping Polygamy), I watched parts of a couple episodes On Demand to see Kollene.  Some thoughts/questions:

    • I love Kollene's honesty and cutting edge with the other kids.
    • Why does Maddie clench her teeth when she talks?  So annoying. She looks so much like Janelle.
    • Wow! Mykelti and Aspyn looked so much alike!  And yes,  "poor little Aspyn" as Kollene said.  Does she still want to live polygamy?
    • After all the talk about Logan, I was kind of surprised to see him defending their version of polygamy and his family.  He is very charming though for sure. Glad he wised up.
    • I was surprised that Kollene found Kody to be a good father.  But I guess he did keep up appearances at that point.  He only seems to have started to lose the kids as they got older and he got more into Robyn's family.
    • Surprisingly to me, I found Janelle to be earning a bit of my sympathy with how she reacted to the stories and words of the escaped kids.  Also she seemed pretty. I honestly do not find her at all sympathetic, interesting, or pretty on social media.  She's been one of my least favorites really.
    • I felt like every one except Christine (adults only) were pretty much lying for the cameras as if this were all scripted.  Maybe it's because of how messed up they all are now.  Janelle also seemed to "believe" but it didn't seem as genuine.  But it's obvious that they don't really do this for their "faith" or belief in any kind of Mormon religion (I grew up mainstream Mormon).  It is basically because they wanted to live this way.  And that's the difference IMO as to why they are not as "bad" as these other groups (Kingston & FLDS).  They want to be somewhat worldly for their own benefit, convenience, and enjoyment whereas those other groups forbid it and therefore are able to "hide" their sins and abuse from the gen pop for the most part.

I also watched the super cringe purity speech (over the very loud mutterings and protests by my own daughter who couldn't believe anyone could sound so incredibly stupid, especially after I gave her a brief background on Robyn/Kody).  Yuck.

I've been forbidden to ever watch that again when my daughter is around, but I still want to watch the panel episode that had Christine's aunt (?) on it.  lol

I would love to know if Mariah is a student at the University of Utah and if Dayton is a student anywhere? I know these shows were filmed about a year ago but was just wondering especially about Dayton because his acceptance at the University of Northern Arizona was the reason for the move despite what Kody says.

    2 hours ago, Twopper said:

Considering how often they move it seems like Kody is too restless to stay settled anywhere for very long and/or is such a grifter that he cannot afford to stay.  ( There was a rental near us when I grew up, and a grifter family moved in and after a few months they packed up in the dead of night only to disappear and leave the landlord stuck with loss of rent plus needing to clean-up the place before he could rent it)

I think the move on behalf of Dayton is a cover story because I think that they could no longer afford to live in the cul-de-sac which is very unfortunate for everyone involved as it allowed the kids to see each other, but the bio families also had their own space.  The younger kids seem to enjoy playing together in the backyard and in the street.  I also wonder if the neighbors got sick of them--especially the filming---or the HOA raised its dues.

This makes me a bit sad for Dayton.  So much pressure on this poor kid.

It's stressful enough just to be starting college.  But then having your entire, ginormous family uprooted to move to the place where you were accepted to college?  With at least some of the kids absolutely NOT wanting to move?  Plus your helicopter mama and sisters worrying and having panic attacks all around you.  No wonder this school didn't work out for him with this absolute circus following him around.  I hope the other kids don't blame him.
