  1. I keep seeing adverts for a new showtime series called City on a Hill, with Kevin Bacon. His partner on the show looked so familiar, but I couldn't place him. After seeing the commercial for like the 10th time, I realized it was Jake from the S2 two part finales, Aldis Hodge. Good for him, costaring with Bacon on Showtime. Not that the show looks terribly interesting to me, but good for him!
  2. Awwww. There is no sound in the world to make you smile better than a little one's laughter. I needed that after a drama filled day. Thanks for posting.
  3. Well at least it sounds appropriate given Chuck's motivation! This also gave me a hopeful thought. Perhaps Dabb has been pulling a massive meta joke on us all. Maybe since he left with Amara in Season 11, Chuck broke bad/bored and decided to screw around with Sam and Dean, subjecting them to all the awfulness of the last 3 seasons. So it wasn't Dabb being a bad showrunner, it was Dabb being a genius showrunner playing a slow twisted game. And now that Chuck has been revealed, the story writing will get better. Either that or Dabb is an nihilist and will keep it bad because Sam and Dean can never escape being the playthings of a pathological creator. If only this were actually true....
  4. I suppose it was intentionally bad on the writers part, but what the heck was up with that silly gun that can kill anything, but will inflict the same damage back upon it's wielder? What kind of hokey, last minute, inauthentic drama-manufacturing concept is that? I guess they were trying to highlight what a terrible writer Chuck is?? It reminds me of those Colbert bits where he has the kids brainstorm plots for movies. I admit I haven't watched the episode yet, perhaps it played better in action than it sounds?
  5. This interests me. I don't watch any of the superhero shows on CW. Is the multiverse something that Arrow et al. introduced long before SPN did it in Season 12? If so, this sounds kinda like a rip off of a fellow network show...
  6. I wish I could like this more than once. I totally agree, about Jack, about Cas (who I really dislike now, thanks Dabb), and who wants too see the Winchesters fight their greatest hits again? Talk about a lack of creativity on Dabb's part. It's like he's doubling down on his bad decision to bring back Mary, Bobby and Charlie. This fully convinces me that he doesn't have a single creative idea in his head, but can only retread what others came up with before. He really is like a bad fan fic writer. Hell, by now, all those baddies are a cakewalk for the boys (uh, they know how to defeat them now, where's the dramatic tension in that?) and as others have said, taken out of their original story context, who cares? Edit: upon further reflection, all this just makes me believe some super powered ally (probably Jack, groan, but maybe Amara?) will swoop in and fix it all with a snap. This is just a hiatus cliffhanger that won't actually affect season 15. Less stupid, Dabb, but hacky storytelling nonetheless.
  7. Right?? It really says something about a show that it can bring enjoyment to so many different people in different ways.
  8. None of the response options are quite right for the combination of disgust and head-shaking complete lack of surprise this post inspires in me. I just do not grok the SPN fandom that lives on Twitter. I am truly impressed by the breadth of the SPN fandom. Not the number. But the number of little cliques that manage to hold such contradictory opinions about the same show...
  9. How did he break out of the supposedly invincible box??? (Sorry I gave up after Lebanon, but I'm curious how the writers explain this one) Are they really playing that Jack had near-god equivalent powers??
  10. Just to cite my references, here's that interview link... https://www.hypable.com/the-tick-ben-edlund-griffin-newman-interview/ Since it is mostly at the end, here's the relevant quote about supernatural. Digging around trying to find this again, I read several interviews for the Tick where he commented that perhaps he stayed too long on SPN without trying to step up and become a larger driving force. (He said it was because he just wanted to know what happened with the characters - I feel ya, Ben). I doubt he would ever consider coming back. 😞
  11. Responding to a question in the writer's thread.... I read an interview with Edlund this summer (don't know remember which one right now or how old it was by the time I found it online) where he mentioned that he would have pushed the show to make the boys sort of demi gods, or more than regular humans anyway, and that his ideas would have forced the show to end sooner.
  12. I would really like to see what Yockey could come up with out Dabb giving him plot notes, given that he is the only current writer that seems to care about earlier canon. If they have Singer to handle the $ issues, why worry about seniority. Unfortunately, I think you're right about BuckLemming. But honestly, except for Nick, I kind of enjoyed some of their episodes this season. I wish Edlund would come back. I have always liked the direction he has said he would've pushed the show.
  13. I liked the concept of Mary 2.0 also, but I think the writers failed big time on the execution. There was way too much tell versus show, both in her "amazing" hunting skills and her relationship with her sons. They just didn't really know what to do with her for much of seasons 13 and 14. And what they did do with her in season 12 was mostly awful. She could have been a really interesting addition to the show as conceived. What a waste. As it is, I'm glad she's gone
  14. Maybe I'm losing perspective here, but when I saw that Dabb had quoted this lovely sad Warren Zevon song to shill this episode with it's schmaltzy flashbacks, I wanted to hit something. Is it too much to hope that Dabb will skip the show's last Comic Con this summer just like he the 300th party?
