  1. True, but there are other 4-year colleges with non-lab classes that are 5 and 6 credits (I was surprised myself). Just from this discussion, it depends on what school you're going to, what degree you're wanting to get and if you're going to be transferring to another school as any of those things will affect what classes you're planning to take or what degree you're wanting to get, especially if there's advanced degrees involved including medicine, law, and several other areas.
  2. I guess it depends on how "quarter" and "semester" are defined. Supposedly, a semester is only two terms a year, Fall and Spring yet one of the local 4-year colleges uses the word in place of quarters which occurs 4 times a year with the three "main" quarters happening Fall/Winter/Spring, yet has three "semesters" a year instead of two (why they don't used "quarters" instead of "semesters" I don't know). Another local 4-year college has full-time credits at 9 for each of their semesters and they supposedly are on a true "semester" system of Fall/Spring. I haven't looked at the other local 4-year colleges (I've several in my area and several community colleges as well; the community colleges are on the quarter system, I know that).
  3. IIRC, most college courses (or curses as I almost typed) are approximately 5 credits each unless they're something like a PE class. There might be classes that only run half a semester/quarter so are only 2.5 credits or the like. Full-time credits would likely be at least 12 credits, not all AP/Honors classes transfer into certain colleges and not all college classes transfer to other colleges (and students are actually recommended to talk to the college they plan on transferring to in order to make sure that their classes will actually be accepted). Sorry for the mini-"lecture" - I spent a lot of time in a previous "life" working with colleges and college students to make sure the students get what they need to get where they're going. I do, however, completely agree with you about the students' workloads in regards to their classes. It's rather stupid and egotistical of Kelli to want girls to either have a full-time job or be full-time students, but also expect them to put DCC first in all things. No wonder some of these girls peace out after one year if they're expected to put a part-time AT BEST job with crappy pay above everything else including the jobs that pays for everything else as well as friends and families.
  4. Evidently the DCC alumni will perform at a half-time show this year. Not sure exactly when. Danielle Barhold evidently had the registration on her Instagram stories.
  5. I wasn't sure how many of the girls actually had flyer/stunting experience. I remembered hearing that a few did, but not exactly how many. I will admit to that. I'm glad that Judy actually pulled girls out who were scared to do it instead of forcing them to do it despite being scared. I wonder how much practice they actually got overall and how much additional practice they got for the stunting.
  6. I heard somewhere that she works for the DCC in some capacity or at least did so at one time, though I don't think she currently does. The majority of her access comes through Kelli because of their friendship if I'm understanding everything correctly. I could be wrong though.
  7. 1) I don't think Judy really cared if they were able to do stunting or not. IIRC, VERY few of the DCC had any experience with it besides Cassie, like maybe 2 or 3 girls, if that. They had to find girls who were small and light enough to get thrown around as flyers. Even then, I don't think they got enough training, IF they got any training besides the day of. 2) Not just liability for the bases (though there would have been plenty of that), what about the liability for the girls forced to be flyers? What if they'd landed wrong, slipped, or worse? Would Judy or the team step up and say "Sorry, we screwed up by not making sure they had experience and plenty of training beforehand, especially if they were new"? Not likely. I wouldn't be surprised if Judy/Kelly/Charlotte did their best to eliminate as much of the liability as possible and I wouldn't be surprised if they deflected it to the performers as much as possible or call it a "horrible accident"/mistake to cover their backsides. 3) I like Judy, but there are times where she comes off as having as big an ego as Kelli and doesn't like it when she thinks people are edging into what she perceives as her territory. That's probably one reason why the dances haven't been updated like they should have. Judy doesn't want to have anyone horn in on her "territory" without her permission much less "challenge" her authority by trying to update anything or bring in anything new (especially if she could get either full or partial credit for doing so). I don't think so though they did for a few years (maybe two or three years) after Cassie left. I think there's a new routine though the costumes are somewhat similar. However, I haven't paid attention to the Halloween halftime in several years.
  8. She would have had to take some sort of dance lessons leading up to Training Camp, if she hadn't been taken them before, because she was one of the weakest dancers they ever took into Training Camp. At least she was in her rookie year. The DCC only did those stunting routines BECAUSE of Cassie, to show her (and what she could do) off. AFAIK, the DCC only did those routine when Cassie was on the squad, not before and not after. Also, Cassie was the only DCC to have one of her solos turned into a half-time routine (and it wasn't because her solo was that amazing) so I'm wondering if Cassie truly came up with the routine and Judy just ripped it off for the Halloween Half-Time show or did Cassie rip the Halloween half-time show off for her solo?
  9. I think Cassie was on one of those competitive cheer squads outside of a school-related one. IIRC, it was one of those elite ones that do all the ridiculously complicated tumbling and stunts. If what I remember is true, there isn't a lot of dance in those routines, maybe a bit here and there, but nothing more than a few counts and likely not more than an 8 count or so. There isn't a lot of actual dancing in a squad like that, it's more about the stunts and tumbling.
  10. I've felt that Alexandria just wanted to see if she could make another team and wasn't really serious about actually staying at all. She went into auditions knowing that her SO's family member had health issues and that it could change at any time so why did she go all the way to Dallas to audition and cheer when there were quite a few East Coast teams that she could audition for if she was serious about dancing for another team? I also think she used the health issue as a convenient reason to cut and run. She's happier where she is then she ever would in Dallas.
  11. I thought I saw Cassie T in there (someone with sharp features and a narrow face) but it could have been Ashley P instead.
  12. She started "modeling" with less and less clothing on and posting the images to her social media. I heard Kelli and TPTB didn't like that and told her to knock it off (probably and possibly because it would hurt the brand). She said no and left after performing at all the games but before finishing all the duties required of her by her contract. There's probably more to it, but that's the gist.
  13. Kelli is straight-up an idiot about weight in situations like this. Every year, she says the uniform is custom tailored to each girl because their bodies are so unique and different, then turns around and tells a girl that, because she is exactly the same height as another girl (who is completely different physically in pretty much every other way), they have to weigh exactly the same. So which is it, Kelli? Every girl is unique and different (and thus should be held to a weight standard that is healthy for HER without "disrespecting" the uniform by looking "big" or "heavy") or should they be exactly the same (which would make fitting the uniforms VERY hard and make the team look bad because they couldn't be bothered to make sure the uniforms fit properly)? I've been saying it for years that they should have a competent nutritionist/dietition (whichever is the higher standard, educated, and licensed) on staff to advise both Kelli and the girls about what is best for that particular body in order to lose weight and maybe even come up with a workable meal plan that would work for each girl's particular body and lifestyle. However, that's too much work (and money) for Kelli and would require her to actually care about the girls' health so it's likely she would never go for it.
  14. As far as I know, the parents don't get to ride the bus regardless of who their daughters are. However, we've seen that Tina (and Victoria) gets special privileges. She ran to hug Victoria the first time she made Training Camp when we were told that she was both working the event (so was Shelly Bramhall, but she didn't get to hug Dayton when she made Training Camp the same year or, if she did, it wasn't splashed across national television) and waiting outside and both Victoria and Tina were able to "say a few words" immediately after the hug.
  15. I remember that but I wonder what happened to her after that. She seemed to drop off the face of the planet after the show.
  16. I always wondered what happened to Elizabeth Reuter. She was everything they were looking for. her only issue being that she wasn't as toned/lean as they wanted her. I think that, if she'd changed her diet a bit (depending on what she was originally eating), she would have lost the weight/toned up and made the squad.
  17. There are many, MANY girls who this phrase could be applied to but most get cut during auditions. Most of the rest are cut during Training Camp. Loni is one of only a very few girls who have had this severe a lack who still made the team. Those girls usually don't last more then a year unless they have a MAJOR dance growth spurt and come back better then every. I haven't seen any girl like that who started out as far behind the curve as Loni did. Both Loni and Kally Jo Stauffacher were examples of girls who shouldn't have made the squad due to the skills they walked in with (or didn't), but did because they were Kelli favorites. There have been a few others like that. It's also another example of Kelli looking for pretty girls with dance/ambassadorial/etc. a distant second. If Loni could make the team without having kicks (or many of the other skills a DCC needed), then some of the other girls should have had that same opportunity. They didn't get it because they weren't a Kelli favorite.
  18. And rumor had it she performed Thunderstruck right up until the kick line then raced off the field so the others could perform.
  19. Sometimes, it just takes getting away from the toxic atmosphere for a person to thrive. Hannah, Lily, Brennan and several others have left the team and gone on to thrive elsewhere because they found places they "fit" better in terms of dance, personality, etc. Yes, there are, and have been, girls who have either survived or thrived on the squad under Kelli's leadership, but the ones who survived seemed to be the ones who kept their heads down and flew under the radar as best they could until they felt they'd gone as far as they wanted to and bolted. The ones who thrived seemed to be the ones who were either Kelli's favorites or that was just what they were used to so they didn't "see" it. Of course, this isn't a one-size-fits-all thing and only comes from what I've seen/heard and from the rumors (some that have been confirmed and others that look to be true based on what has been said by several people but hasn't been totally confirmed).
  20. All but one of this group have okay kicks. They need to be better though. The girl on the yard line (Jada?) has amazing kicks. The three to her right (Tori, Kali and ???) are okay, but could be better and the one to her left (Victoria?) seems to be the sloppiest. I'm not sure about the names though so I could be totally wrong about who's who here.
  21. it's been obvious from the beginning that Kelli has favorites and people she doesn't want on the team and the fact that Hannah is such an amazing dancer and performer, yet had to go through HOW many auditions before Kelli finally "noticed" her? I think Kelli didn't like her looks and found ways to keep her off the squad until she couldn't any more. Then was probably looking for ways to cut her as well. It's obvious and VERY hurtful when your boss not only doesn't like you but makes it obvious she doesn't like you. I've been there, done that and it's taken me 4 YEARS to stop feeling like every meeting, every 1-on-1 is going to be about something that I've done wrong or that I'm going to be fired for some BS reason. I suspect Kelli's lack of support for anyone who wasn't Victoria or one of her favorites was part of why Brennan was unhappy with the "direction" of the team. Brennan's and Hannah's cut are two of the most WTF cuts we've seen.
  22. I wonder if people were afraid to hire her for the same type of jobs (or similar) once she revealed she'd rather dance on an NFL team then hold onto a great job (with benefits and other things). I liked Malena's look, her knowledge, determination and drive, but the girl had enough dance issues, she should have gotten out while she was on top (to a degree). Neither the Jets nor the DCC did her any favors by either putting her on the team (but not letting her dance) or stringing her along as far as they did.
  23. From everything we've been told (including Kelli and Judy? I seem to remember them addressing this on camera when several veterans took some time off and were trying to come back way back when the show was first starting), if a veteran takes a year off, they had to start back at Pre-lims like everyone else, but, should they make Training Camp, they pick up where they left off, ie. left as a second year, come back as a third year; left as a fourth year, come back as a fifth, etc.
  24. I think that Keyra's cut (or some of the others) weren't so much for the drama as it was because they were more of a liability for the team then others and it was best to just cut their losses. Others, like Meredith/Breelan/Morgan/etc., they give such girls every possible chance to improve (especially during the season), but many of them don't improve enough to compete against the incoming girls or they don't think they NEED to improve because they've already got it locked in because of being on the squad for a year. There's also the "shock/drama/tearjerker" cuts where the girls are cut for no other reason then shock value or ratings because these girls are either more then good enough to be on the squad (and probably would have been if they hadn't auditioned while the show was on) or had been on the squad/show long enough to be a fan favorite and solid performer. Hannah, Brennan, Holly P., Taryn, etc. are just some of these girls.
