Putting this here, since Dayton is being discussed elsewhere.

Regarding Dayton, this is from Robyn’s blog: (January 2018)

When Dayton was little he struggled with balance, coordination and knowing how to use his body.  When he was excited he would flap his arms and jump around the room.  He would sit for hours setting up cars around the edge of a table or lining up his dinosaurs according to size.  If anyone messed any of it up he would fall apart.  He wouldn’t eat certain foods due to the texture - this included any vegetables.  He would throw up if he had the wrong texture in his mouth.  He struggled with loud noises and lights.   Dayton didn’t give good eye contact in a conversation and struggled to know what was appropriate and okay as far as making friends with other kids. He could talk to adults though, usually about whatever subject he was obsessing about at the time.  There was the elephant phase, the dinosaur phase, (Yea, I became a temporary paleontologist) the alphabet and three letter word phase, the Pokémon phase, the car phase and several others.  He knew more about his favorite subjects or current interests then about everyday life.  He could talk your ear off about his current phase for hours if you let him.  During the dark and scary Pokémon years I felt like his main language was Pokémon and I struggled to speak it.  We would go into a store and he would find one of his “fellow tribesmen” wandering down the toy aisle and they would have a discussion that I did not follow or understand.  Yea, that was a tough phase.  I still shudder at the memory.

I remember trying and trying to teach him how to ride his bike and then gave up.  Somehow he got the impression that in order to go to kindergarten, he would need to know how to ride his bike so he went outside and taught himself how in an afternoon.  At this point, I knew my buddy had something going on with him but I just didn’t know what. I remember when he was in kindergarten, the school was recommending that he be taken out of class to get special help because his testing was so bad.  His teacher was confused by this.  She said she had never had a student come in that knew all the alphabet so well, could spell so many words, or had so much knowledge about dinosaurs.

“He could end up being a doctor or engineer with how smart he is!”

Little did I know that this would be the dichotomy that is Dayton his whole life.  When Dayton was in 2nd grade, the school counselor and psychologist brought me in and told me that he wanted to do some tests on Dayton.  I said yes and we started the long process.  This was when I was told that Dayton has Asperger Syndrome.  I was told it is a high functioning form of Autism.  Dayton had a lot of the behaviors.  It made sense to me because although he was amazing he also struggled with some things quite a bit.  He was artistic, intelligent, had an amazing memory and a sweet disposition, but he also really struggled in school, didn’t understand how to make friends, or how to deal with stress and didn’t have mind-body connection.  The more I learned and researched the more I started to understand what challenges were ahead for him and what I had to do as a mom to support him and advocate for him.  It was my job as his mother to help the world open their eyes to the amazing person before them, help fight for him to get the support he needed and help eliminate stress for him as much as I could.  You see, when someone with Autism or Asperger Syndrome is stressed out, the behaviors that make them stand out are more prevalent.  It has been a long journey but I have been determined to make sure he has every opportunity to be successful and happy.  I have been accused of being a helicopter parent but unless you have been in my shoes you don’t get it.

Thank you @ginger90 I had read this previously so I was aware but I am glad you posted it for everyone else.

    And, I can relate!

  2. I must have missed when we learned Dayton was going to college in Flagstaff can someone point me in the direction of this news?  I just did a google search but was unsuccessful however, this has been stated with such certainty a number of times so I obviously missed this news and would be very interested in finding out more.

I too have a son with special needs right around Dayton's age so he holds a special place in my heart hence my interest in his post secondary schooling.

    TIA

Well.... seriously......  people can make whatever personal choices they wish in their lives (we ALL do!) - but when you go on a reality show, don't you think there are going to be judgments and assumptions and speculations?  I don't live a polygamist lifestyle, but if my life were on television I KNOW for a fact people would be making judgments about certain things I did or said.  That's just life.  Most of us would rather NOT put everything out there for the public to view.  Again - personal choice - but to make judgments about people making judgments in this situation is rather strange.    This is an extreme lifestyle to most mainstream folks.

I would take my response to small talk thread but alas they don't exist anymore, so here will have to do.   I realize people are going to judge others especially when they put aspects of their lives out on a reality show and/or social media and certainly understand that it is a typical human response.  I just believe it's a bit of a leap to make said judgments not based upon  what we see, are told, or even what can be found in public records but instead use assumptions, speculations, and even sometimes known falsehoods.

(edited out because too far off topic)

I get it - she definitely seems to be struggling with it, but I don't think it's fair to make judgments based on assumptions.

I wholeheartedly agree with you!!  Surprisingly, the judgments, assumptions, and speculations presented in this forum are mild compared to another similar forum.

It looks like they're all standing on a bench.  Truely is leaning over, maybe with her head on Mykelti's pregnant belly (NO!!!!) or on the hidden person's head.  But directly below her (circled in red) is what appears to be a leg of someone hiding behind Ysabel.  The blue circle appears to be Ysabel's purse or a plastic bag, and she looks like she might be leaning back against the person whose right leg is showing.  I do see the bears behind the bench and in the left corner, but what I'm looking at looks like another person.

I have to get a real life.

    Picture1.gif

I think Mykelti is actually seated on something you can see her foot resting on the red circled "leg" and Truely has her head resting on Mykelti's lap not her belly.  There's no hidden person, at least not any living hidden person may be a statue though.

    But every year?

I'm sorry, how much of an idiot must one be to "forget" how to wrap some paper around a box and add tape?

I don't consider my best friend (who also earned her PhD) an idiot even though anything she wraps apparently requires a whole roll of tape to stay wrapped and still has corners of wrapping paper askew and pieces of the box peeping through - and yes it's every year.

There is an easier way poor baby.  Get yourself a AAA card and they will do the registration by appointment in the comfort of their office.

REALLY??!!!  I've been a AAA member for ages and had no idea!  Crimeny, that's awesome!  Thanks for the info!

  8. For those that may be unaware, the "Three letters" "T H C" that the spoiler referred to generally stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol which is the primary psychoactive component in marijuana.  I only mention this because some are proposing phrases for the initials and wondered if perhaps some folks were not aware.  Although, I fully admit people may be thinking outside the box or being creative since it was included as part of a frequently cryptic spoiler, and if that's the case carry on and excuse my interruption.

  9. So has no one been watching Dancing w/ the Stars Jr?  Mackenzie has been competing and Maddie has shown up to dance a few times.  I keep expecting someone to mention it here but so far... crickets.  I personally hate that Mackenzie is on and find her extremely annoying but whatever.  She looks way older than any of the other contestants and then just to further try to tip the voting to her favor she brings out Maddie I find the blatant pandering appalling.

    ..... THAT is a tag???

    How lame.

    Maybe they should add #breathingoxygen  #stillhaveaheartbeat   ..

Haha, I rarely venture onto Twitter and even less so Instagram but even I realize that the Browns are not to blame for most of the hashtags that ya'll lambaste them for.  OR, perhaps they are far more influential than anyone gives them credit for.   A quick search discovers multi-thousands of posts using that hashtag on both platforms.

Just for fun I also looked up the other two mentioned #breathingoxygen finds a following on twitter and 315 posts on instagram.  #stillhaveaheartbeat finds 6 posts on instagram and 3 on twitter.

Since you are so kindly educating us on the sex life of chickens....or lack thereoff, I have one question. Possibly a stupid one. But....do roosters fertilize the egg inside of the chicken? Or after it's laid. From what I remember of biology, all mammals fertilize thru the act but reptiles don't, and I believe birds are warmblooded (thus mammals) and fall under that rule too. It's amazing how much you forget as you get older. I am sure I knew this once upon a time.

I'll chime in here in case violet and green doesn't return to this thread...  The yolk is fertilized when it is released into the oviduct and happens very early in the egg formation process.

As an interesting note and to over simplify a bit, the hen can "store" sperm for a short time so that multiple eggs can be formed, fertilized, and laid without the need for daily mating.

Another interesting tidbit, an embryo will not begin development until the hen has laid (or collected) enough eggs so that she feels she has a decent size clutch at which point she will begin the brooding process by laying on her clutch continuously, her body heat triggers embryonic development.  This is why as long as eggs are collected daily they can still be eaten even if they have been fertilized.

  12. To be fair, do we know anything about either of the blondes?   This is a single moment of a single day - I shudder to think what assessments would be made about me from a snapshot of a random day in my life.  Even if they all have a social media presence we still only see what they post, or in the case of Mariah, and to an even smaller extent Audrey, what the show editors choose to show us.   Yes, we get a slightly bigger view into the life and times of the Browns' due to the show but even that is a fraction of the actual daily activities out of an entire year!  It's a rare bird that catalogs and posts the daily grind of everyday living thus providing "proof" that they are indeed productive members of society and earning an honest and fruitful living.  I mean if we were to take a statistically significant sampling of social media posts and assess the activities and chronology of society how many of those posts would be "here I am at work slogging away at this vital spreadsheet"?   Therefore the logical conclusion can only be that very few people work and those that do only spend a small fraction of their time earning an income.

  13. Ok, I'm usually a "live and let live" kind of person and rarely criticize or make judgement regarding others choices and living habits (even the Brown's), but this one made me irrationally angry.  There are so many others within arms reach here that I just can't get on the its okay to trash perfectly good food just because.... why???  Now maybe they aren't living right next door to each other anymore but I'm sure it's not that much out of the way to drop it off at someone's house, anyone's house - she even states she's about to go out to spin class.

As for how Christine might feel about it, I can see a weird juxtaposition between hurt that she just tossed my efforts down the drain yet flattered that she enjoyed it so much that she couldn't resist.

Oh goodness Janelle.  Google is your friend at the very minimum before posting.  Those grains that you eat or grind up for flour are...you know...seeds of plants.  Plant it as a seed or eat it as a grain.  Buckwheat pancakes are very popular around here but are really old fashioned.  They have a very heavy texture in my opinion, but my husband really loves them.

Actually, buckwheat is not a grain and is indeed a seed -  and is an excellent option for people with celiac disease or other gluten sensitivities.  And while pointing out the obvious but furthering the point, all grains are seeds, but not all seeds are grains.  Grains come from plants in the grass family whereas buckwheat is in the same class as rhubarb.  It may be semantics but its a valid distinction.

  15. While I don't understand the fashion because I, like many of you, only wore jeans with holes in them after many years of wear and work but I don't mind the look as long as they fit correctly.  That means when you stand, walk, sit, etc your body stays contained within the pants.  If your thighs look like they are busting out of the strings this fashion is not for you or you need to buy a larger size.  So in this case Gwen - yes, Mariah - no.

Have faith, just like all other fads, this one will pass as soon as Hollywood and other pop culture icons move past it themselves.  In the meantime, I personally won't fault folks for jumping on the fashion bandwagon but I will readily yell out my house to "Get off my lawn!!!"

I found it more than a bit creepy that Swaggy spent so much time with her parents.  Swaggy and Bayleigh haven't known each other very long.  She was still involved in the BB game, and he is some stranger spending time with her parents.  That would freak me out.

YES!   She didn't have a chance to introduce him to her parents - he just went ahead and introduced himself - and then STAYED!   that's pretty crazy.

I didn't do the math but I'm guessing at the time of the proposal, he had spend more time with her parents than he had with her.  And without a doubt, her parents got to know the real Chris and knows his true "in the real world" self, whom Bayleigh had NEVER met.

I find it all quite appalling and making a mockery of the seriousness and commitment required for a lasting and fulfilling marriage.  It is not something that should be taken so flippantly.
