Perhaps the baby is in the sandwich. Mmmm, fresh baby. Mom is just happy because she is done with at least one of the hellions. -

It gets lonely out on the farm. And the barn's too cold in winter to sidle up with Bossy. -
Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

Now i have visions of people encouraging chicken sex and moving the rooster on top of the hen. The again, I have no idea of how commercial chickens are bred. So many animals are bred through artificial insemination, for all I know they are bred by hands or by machine. Crap. Now I'm thinking about chicken breeding. I may need brain bleach. Let's just call that commercial a fail all the way around. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

There are always a lot of charity commercials at year end, hoping to capitalize on people who do their giving at the end of the year to get tax credit for the donation or those who make new year's resolutions to do more good. I hate the SPCA commercials because they imply that shelter and rescue animals were all abused or damaged in some way. I have volunteered at many different shelters and rescues. While we do take in animals that have been treated badly or spent much time on the streets, the vast majority of animals in the shelter system are good pets whose people felt they couldn't keep them. This is usually due to job loss, need to move, major life changes (such as child or partner with allergies), etc. Some have special programs to take in animals whose people passed away. I currently work with a group that helps people with major illnesses or disabilities to keep their pets. So, ASPCA with your gloom and doom, tear-jerker, nightmare inducing horror fests can suck it. I'd rather see the Shelter Pet Project's cartoon cats. They give me hope and encourage people to adopt without trauma. -
The Annie commercial doesn't just ensure I won't see the movie, it makes me want to find a way to prevent the little girl playing Annie from ever being in anything again. So much smug in 30 seconds.

It's for people who only do things in black and white. Those infomercial wunderkinds who can't crack an egg or strain spaghetti or blow dry their hair . . . . Just think, they could buy this product and their lives would be in color! -
They also didn't comment on how close Josh put the flower tattoo to the other tattoo on her arm. They always showed it from an angle that showed as little as possible of the pre-existing tattoo. I wonder how they looked next to each other. I forget what she originally said she wanted, other than the placement. Gentle Jackass Jay was such tool, however, he helped swing the woman toward doing what Josh wanted. I would be very happy if GJ never darkened my TV again.

This was so disappointing. It was like a worst of Ink Master episode. Monty and Phoenix780 nailed the pacing of this episode. Damn you, Ink master, for lulling me into a false optimism with the Christmas episode. Al Fliction and CJ were both total also rans. Neither showed any real talent. Although CJ did show some self knowledge when she said she needed to go home and become a better tattooer. While the winning tattoo wasn't great, the woman in the martini glass was so ugly. Her limbs were misshapen and there was so much shading on her legs they looked hairy. Sure, it was no skull dripping blue goo, but it was certainly bad.

And I consider f hunting her down to stop her from ever screeching again . . . . The ad with Flo giving people rental cars is based on major markets in which progressive has it's own repair shops. Presumably the people have dropped their cars off to be repaired (or come in with the tow truck) and she is helping them with the rental car. What gets me in these commercials is how different she looks in this lighting. Faced with normal people, she is much more toned down too. Of course, the thought of seeing Flo is yet another reason to not have Progressive, as if their commercials weren't reason enough. -
In Noah's POV he seemed to view the sex between Cole and Alison in a negative way, perhaps viewing it as or close to rape. In Alison's view it was consensual sex. The issue being discussed was how Noah viewed it, masturbated to it and used a similar position with Helen. At the same time, clearly this could be a position that Noah and Helen often use and enjoy. No one seems to be arguing that sex in varying positions or role-playing is bad among married partners. The whole show is focused on how two different people see the same things inn different ways. The poster was referencing how Noah saw it, not condemning the sex act when seen from Alison's POV. In Noah choosing this position with Helen in the emotional state they were in, it did seem like a power move. That doesn't mean they haven't done it this way before. It is more a matter of the timing.

After this last season it was nice to see some quality tattoos. The skull with lights was weird. When I think Christmas, I think skulls. In fact, my office is decorated with skulls as I type this. Oh wait, maybe I'm hallucinating and that i actually lights and garland. I can understand wanting to add something to the tangled lights idea. I just wouldn't have chosen a skull. The holly wrap did seem rather feminine for the guy it was on. I get a feeling he may be end up adding to that to make it look less like a garter. I can appreciate the artistry that goes into new school tattoos. However, the more of them I see, the more I know I won't be getting one. They just don't appeal to me, although the bendy Christmas tree was kind of fun. The woman who was very particular was interesting. In real life, people are very particular about their tattoos, or at least they should be since they're wearing them for life. On these shows they get so used to people, with a few exception, being more flexible. In fact when someone doesn't agree to exactly what the tattooer wants to do, they always make it seem like major drama. However, it certainly wasn't a level playing field. Snausages came off rather whiny. Had I blocked this from my memory of him?

If Noah pays the mechanic cash, which he asked for, then he needs to bring that cash to the detective. I do not see anything shady in this. The cash would be evidence of the bribe and would, hopefully, have Noah's fingerprints on it. Noah's recounting of the gun incident made more sense to me too. Also, in Alison's version, there was some odd dialog (which we can expect in a retelling of a story, so I am not criticizing the writer). There was an awkward phrase Noah used, then Alison started her next statement with the same phrase. It stood out to me. (Can't re-watch right now). I have been noticing that more and more throughout the show, which is an interesting way to view how memories work. Noah called his daughter a sociopath. Then Helen calls Noah a sociopath. Or did Whitney prompt that word during the conversation with her mother? She could have since we didn't see it. In some of the Noah and Alison comparisons there is a sense that they each attribute at times what may have been the other person's actions to themselves. I find that part of the storytelling very interesting.

I would like Noah to get a vasectomy. Can we make that part of the show? Then he'll stop breeding, regardless of spouse. Given the brilliant job he seems to have done with the first batch, the world might be better off with fewer Solloways around. It does seem that while the actors are all good they are each playing their parts slightly differently than what was originally imagined by the show runners. Cole and Helen are more sympathetic. Noah and Alison come off as more self-serving. At least Alison does show some real pain and reasons for leaving her marriage. Yes couples can survive the loss of a child, but not if they are each blaming the other for that loss. The scenes with Alison and Cole have been some of the best - first the one on the sidewalk and then this week's reveal of how they each blame the other for the loss of Gabrielle. Noah just comes off like a douchebag to me. I can understand he is bored and unhappy in his marriage. I just cannot stand the whole oh poor me I've been forced to live a life I can't afford because your parents are wealthy. It feels dishonest. While it may hurt his ego, he has obviously benefited from their largess. I guess it's just a case of rich people's problems that I can't get behind. ETA: Or, what HumblePi said.

The issue I have with the portrayal of the affair is how much in turns into women want twu wuv and men want sex. Noah’s accounts focus largely on his wild monkey sex with Alison, her willingness to do what he wants and his ability to feel like a big man. In the episode we get to see hum wielding his magical unicorn dick with several more women. I have no issue with him screwing whoever he wants to. He never sowed his wild oats so he’s trying make up for it now. If it’s consensual, go for it. It is just interesting to me that his remembrances of his times with Alison rarely focus on emotional bonding. He understands she’s broken. He follows that up with trying to get anal. While she seems to agree that the sex is good, she focuses on whenever he says I love you. Her going off to heal with her mother made little sense to me. It just seemed like an odd environment for her. They have so much of their own emotional baggage it would not be a healing environment. Noah screwing everything that moves at least made sense. What I am missing is some sense that he treats Alison in a very different way than he does his one-nighters. He always comes off very emotionally immature to me, with an “ooh, I’m gonna get some” vibe that doesn’t distinguish whether its meaningful or just playtime. His characterization just feels really off to me, at least given that Alison falls so in love with him that they end up together. Now as to how Noah of the limited imagination somehow writes the great American novel that multiple publicists should be clamoring for – I think we've all learned that his brilliance was being held back by his bitch of a wife and his ungrateful kids who made it impossible for him to reach his real potential; a.k.a. what Noah wants us to believe.

Does this make two scenes in which Alison remembers that she saved someone? First, she saved Noah's daughter (although Noah's version shows her being there, not saving the child). Now she talks Cole out of shooting Noah and potentially members of his family. Those were two incredibly disparate views of the same situation.
-
Proving yet again that I focus on all of the wrong things, what the heck was up with Alison's breasts in Noah's memory of the ranch scene? Her left breast kept moving in and out from her breastbone. That is one odd bra she was wearing. The scene with the publicist was disgusting. I am not as incensed about the idea of a married person having an affair as most of the people on this board, but hearing that asshole basically telling Noah that he was living the best life possible by leaving his wife and children was over the top.

I hated the constant bitching during the season. They could have trimmed down the finale if we didn't have to hear the eliminated inktestants trash talk their former competitors. You suck. No, you suck. I'm a better artist. No I'm a better artist. You're a bitch. You're a bad tattoer. What a waste of airtime. Jason accepted the judges' critiques quite graciously, which was nice to see. They actually had a fair amount of negative things to say to him. But he defended the tattoo well and he did do new school as assigned. It would have been nice to have spent more time really looking at the tattoos. I know it's an unpopular opinion on this board, but I really like Cleen. And I find him really sexy in an old school, 50s way. I'll just jump in that handbasket and get ready for my trip to hell.

The opening number was so bad I almost turned off the show. I was in the other room when it started and all I can say is “Ow! My ears hurt.” Later Morris Day and the Time performed, er, I mean Bruno Mars. The women’s performance of Bang Bang was really enjoyable. Did they hire new stylists for the finale (or at least this number)? They each looked great and sounded good together. I’ve got to wonder if these under lit performances look better in person. They’re been doing this a lot later in the season (or I’m going blind). There were times I thought I was watching The Walking Dead with music. I enjoyed Matt with Fall Out Boy. I’m not a big Matt fan, but he seemed to be really enjoying himself. I often find him too self-conscious or calculated when performing. It was nice to see him just have a good time. Then again, the competition was over so he didn’t have to play the game anymore. Now that my ears had fully recovered, Matt’s “friends” sang You Can Go Your Own Way. Thanks for that. Did he think how can I get the people with the most disparate voices together on a song? That was just bad.

Given that he said that after they were discussing which parts of her body he liked, my mind went right to the 12 year old place. I'll swap your "ugh" for an ew. I don't think he minds her shape. He seemed to say he likes everything except what is between her legs. He is not attracted to female genitalia, whether idealized or not.

I rewatched the episode. I believe I am starting a new career critiquing sex scenes. In Alison's memory of the sex, the focus was on Noah saying, "I love you". She asks him to repeat it. In Noah's recollection, he slows down and she asks him "what's wrong?" He says I want to do something you've never done with anyone else before. She then says, "I'm yours" which gets him all hot and bothered. He asks her to repeat it several times. When they're lying next to each other, he starts playing with her ass. She says, "I've never done that before." He queries, "No?" She asks, "Have you?" He says "yeah", and she says "Next time." So Irlandesa nailed it. They were making anal plans for the next go around. Of course this was prior to his thinking Helen was pregnant. In Noah's recollection, he tells Alison he loves her when she's leaving.

The hospice rep did say all of those things to Dr. James, and she said the line about being careful to respect the laws and watch the boundaries of what they were doing. Dr. James just went so fast with accepting hospice patients that she raised major red flags. Patsy and Dawn's body parts discussion was so funny and cringe-inducing. Both of their facial expressions throughout were genius. Dr. James, while reacting to not wanting to be known as Dr.Death did inadvertently do something kind for the family. They seemed to have stepped out when the staff was watching Mrs. Kim die. When they brought her back, even if it was just by shaking her and yelling at her, the family came in. Unless they had chosen to step out to not see the moment of her death, Dr. James may have relieved them of the guilt of "we stepped away for a moment and she died". It happens quite often. I have this weird feeling that Didi's video to Dr. James will help them get out of at least some of the mess they're in. Didi clearly was under the impression that she was being paid by the hospital, not the hospice, which was an issue in the legal case.

I assume she wasn't eating to some extent to try to hide or stop what would have been weight gain from the pregnancy and she was throwing up a lot. Of course, her parents only noticed that once. I'm sure it was easier to hide at her grandparents. They would have more bathrooms. If Noah and Alison did have anal sex, she lied to him about him being the first. Earlier in the series she said she and Cole tried it once and she didn't like it. So she is either lying to Noah about his incredible sexual abilities or was this in Noah's scene and he is remembering her as being so enamored of his ma skillz? Just his whole demanding they do something she had never done with anyone else angered me. He really has issues of needing to feel like he is all powerful and in control with her be completely enamored of him. I cannot see what either woman sees in him beyond quick infatuation based on what Alison wants to see versus what is there and a long term marriage with four children that Helen does not want to throw away. Although at this point Helen seems more than willing to toss the marriage and Noah right in the trash. Of course if he does become successful after leaving Helen, he can tell himself that she was holding him back rather than acknowledging that she supported him for all those years, allowing him to be the selfish jackass that he is.

This show is just so incredible. Laurie Metcalf should get every award possible for her portrayal of Dr, James.
