I'm with you on this CousinOliver. The whole thing really irritates me. Kristen is awful whenever she turns up. -

And he made it to the Boston philharmonic, so he must have been a great musician as well. -
We were just talking about Dan and Morothy the other day, and decided they would be code names for a couple we know... E is for Elvis and his pork chop

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Rose's good intentions led to conflict with her mom and both daughters. I think that was the point of those episodes. Still Kirsten was a b*tch to her mother, being ashamed of her, and she should have apologised too (if not only). But your point that Rose set herself up for this conflict is a good one. -

They've been arrested so often it's no big deal any more. They know the cops, judges, lawyers and the whole procedure. I never registered that flawed logic with the cheap Mercedes, well observed. -

Absolutely. They were all too happy about Stan being back in Dorothy's life. But I guess once Dorothy made her mind up to see and marry Stan they could either be supportive or disapproving, and really the choice is Dorothy's and the best friends just wanted to be supportive. At least she didn't make the same mistake again. -
F for Freddie - it was so good *we named it*

In the episode when they are reminiscing about birthday parties (Mr Haha's Hacienda, Rose tells dead Charlie she's leaving St Olaf, and Sophia is 50 and not 48) the girls know Blanche's birthday date from the time shortly after they live together, coz they throw her a party which upsets her till she sees how many men were invited. But I'm sure later in their lives together they desperately try to find out her birthday and find her birth certificate was redacted by the authority of the governor.

And no disrespect to Al he was nearer retirement or moving to a less physically demanding role in the police force. -
D is for Dennis, Dorothy's annoying but not unattractive son in law. (D is also for Dorothy).
-
A is for Heinrich von Anderdönen who was the first to can tuna in its natural juices and founder of St Olaf.

Maybe not continuity, but time related: We're watching the episode in which Rose is Blanche's vigenfrügen because she lost her earnings and Dorothy submits her student's story which wins 1st prize and he gets deported. On the same day that Rose offers to be a vigenfrügen for a full week, Dorothy submits the story. During the same week, because the vigenfrügen is still going on, Mario's story is judged and wins, and the INS come looking for him. Surely submitting a story, waiting for the panel to judge the stories, declare a winner and waiting for the INS to do their thing would take a lot more than a few days...

In "The Stan who Came to Dinner" (2x13) Blanche arranges a double date for her and Dorothy with 2 twins named Rob and Bob. Rob and Bob are both short for Robert, so both twins have the same name? -
I just love Dorothy's response to the Picasso story: I think you're lying, (Rose to Dorothy: be positive!) so Dorothy says, OK, I'm positive you're lying! And the Charles de Gaulle / the Mole cracks me up too. Sophia had definitely been around the block a number of times before marrying Sal. Or she's just a liar...

The Girls & Co. In Other Roles: Spreading It Around

I saw Betty for the first time as Sue Ann Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Show (for which she's well known, but not to me until recently) and in her first episode (4x1) she has an affair with Lars Lindstrom. I suppose that in Minnesota that's not a very unusual name (?), but I wonder if it had anything to do with Rose being a Lindstrom (not a Nylund - despite that awful glitch where she says the Nylunds are her adoptive parents...)? -
