  1. Wheeeeeee!! I love it! Yes, please! Earl Cole, although you lead a busy life, if you can squeeze some time to recap the rest of Season Two (and even Season One), I would be forever in your debt.
  2. If we can get a little bit more traffic in the BoB forum (or even if not), would anyone here be interested in doing a group (re)watch and discussion? With V-E Day on Friday and Memorial Day coming up in a few weeks, this would be the ideal time to do one (JMO). Thoughts?
  3. PML!! I've been thinking the same thing reading your posts. When it comes to BoB, I can discuss the miniseries, the book, and the Men of Easy all day long, provided the person I'm talking with is as into it as much as I am. I'm just glad that y'all appreciate it just as much. For me, this is Spielberg's and Hanks' Magnum Opus -- nothing either of them did before comes close both in quality and magnitude, and I doubt either of them will have another project that can match or surpass it.
  4. Michael Kamen knocked it out of the park when he composed the score for BoB - he captured the essence of The Greatest Generation in the primary melody used in just about every piece and then customized it to go perfectly with each scene. His ability to convey the emotions of the actors in each episode, be it bravado, exhaustion, joy, fear, relief, sadness, rage (and so on and so forth), was absolutely stellar.
  5. Yup -- just checked, and Ed Shames, now 91 years old, is alive and well in Virginia Beach. I just read the Wikipedia entry ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Shames ) for him, and from what's written there about him, he remained in the Army as a Reservist and retired with the rank of Colonel. ***** Wikipedia also has an entry for the List of Easy Company (506 PIR) veterans, which makes for a quick go-to link to find out the current status of the surviving Men of Easy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Easy_Company_(506_PIR)_veterans
  6. I'm in total agreement with you regarding the scene between Doc and the Nurse -- it's one of the moist poignant moments in the miniseries as it does a hauntingly beautiful job of portraying a myriad of emotions, characteristics, and expressions -- their ability to provide aid and care to the wounded, to comfort and give solace to the dying, to face the blood and guts of battle wounds, to endure the moans, cries, and screams of those in agonizing pain -- all of that, in and of itself is incredible, but to do it while seemingly in the very center of the hell, surrounded by explosions and ammunition, shrapnel, and god knows what else flying in every direction, borders on the insane. To do this day and and day out, not knowing how many will be wounded, who those soldiers or civilians will be, the severity of the wounds, not knowing when it's going to end and, yet, repeatedly be able to look futility in the eye and tell it to piss off, is nothing short of miraculous and is a shining example of the unbelievably strong inner core that medics and nurses each possess.
  7. Trailer for Episode 3 (air date May 3, 2014)
  8. One thing's for sure - I'll not be inviting Mrs. S. over for Thanksgiving any time soon, unless I knew for a fact she was my ally -- in that case, I'd personally let her carve the turkey.
  9. Compared to last season, the scenes with Cosima and Delphine have seemed somewhat flat in these two episodes. I'm hoping that it's that the plot line involving her hasn't really taken off yet, seeing as how the few times she's been onscreen have been more expository in nature, and that it's going to start taking off in the upcoming weeks. If that's not it, then something is off - either the chemistry between the actresses or the writing. About Cosima, though....last season, even with all of the revelations that took place, she was totally gassing on the science aspect of it and did not seem anywhere near as devastated/destroyed by becoming self-aware, nor did she seem overly affected by what was happening to the other clones - it was almost as though she was fascinated by a real-life experiment unfolding in front of her eyes. Then, with her discovery that she's sick, along with the realization that she's now a rat trapped in what's supposedly going to be a fabulous laboratory and the physical separation from Alison and Sarah, that adrenaline buzz started to wear off. I suspect that, due to her laid-back, NoCal 420 attitude, she felt that Sarah was exaggerating and overreacting about what a bitch Rachel was.....but then, when the CorProClone waltzed into her "secure" lab with her snooty-assed attitude (after being told, no, make that *warned*, by Leekie that she does not react well to being insulted), sending Delphine out of the lab like she was a scullery maid, and then ordering Cosima around like some Manor House Bitch with her snide insults and veiled threats, the reality of her situation seemed to hit her like a ton of bricks. It's going to be interesting to see how her situation evolves and how she reacts to it (and Delphine, and Leekie, and CorProClone Bitch).
  10. Ho. Lee. Fuuuuuuuck. Completely blown, my mind is. It's going to definitely take another viewing before I can coherently post all of the thoughts, reactions, and opinions that swirled through my head during this episode. If there's one thing Orphan Black cannot be accused of, it would be having useless filler crap. Tonight's show was tight, tense as hell, and squeezed every bit of life out of each second. For now, though, - I'm glad that shitbag Tomas is dead. - What is CowboyChrist going to do with her? Use her as a breeder like one of his cows? - Rachel turned her Bitch Mode (is that the only one she has?) up about 10 notches. I want to smack the shit out of her smug mug whenever she's in a scene. - During his few minutes onscreen, Leekie creeped me the fuck out way more than he ever did in Season One. - Glad that Mrs. S. seems to be on the level, but I do have to admit that I pegged the people working with her as working for the Prolethians about 30 seconds into their first scene. And damn, woman can kick some ass when she needs to. - It's now dawning on Cosima, it seems, that she's nothing but a lab rat for DYAD. - Glad that Alison now knows that Eating, Farting Donnie is her Monitor, but damn, she's going to crack without Felix -- which makes me worry after seeing Angie introducing herself to her in the previews for next week. So is Angie just being a nosy cop, or is she undercover for the Prolethians as well? A new monitor for DYAD? Her name on the show is Angela DeAngelis (Angel of the Angels, if my rough translation is correct), and that seems a wee bit too weird/creepily devout. Plus, she's acted a bit too strange in her eagerness about this case since she replaced NotBeth in the field. More to come after my brain has recollected itself.
  11. Regarding Danica's scoring and TPTB putting her "in danger" (which I think was total bullshit) is, IMO, sheer manipulation on the part of the show's producers. I have a fat honking feeling that they are salivating for a Final Three of Danica/Val, Meryl/Maks, and Charlie/Sharna. The possibility of that grouping is a Producers' orgasmic smorgasbord in the DWTS world in that they can promote the fuck out of "The Battle of the Olympic Champions!!" and "The Battle of the Chmerkovskiy Brothers!!" That being the case, Danica, unfortunately, would be buried under the hyping of those two scenarios. I don't think it was a matter of being "entitled" at all -- I think it was more that they were genuinely bumfuzzled by their scores, particularly because 1) their dance was showered with all kinds of praise from all four judges with absolutely nothing negative said about it yet received 4 9's when they easily deserved at least one or two 10's given how higher scoring teams danced, and 2) they danced circles (and hexagons, octagons, dodecahedrons) around NeNe and Tony but received the same exact score as those two (which was a fucking joke IMO). Even though Cloris Leachman was that season's geriatric entry and was not a good dancer, she, at least, is one of the funniest women on the planet and a far better comedian (comedienne) than Drew Carey could ever aspire to be, plus she has an absolutely endearing personality, especially for someone who was 82 years old when she was on DWTS (she's 87 now). While the younger viewing demographic likely aren't all that familiar with her, just about anyone over the age of 40 should be familiar with some of her more famous roles on TV (particularly on the Mary Tyler Moore Show) and in movies - she won an Oscar for The Last Picture Show, as well as stole the show in the three Mel Brooks' movies she was in. A couple of examples of her comedic talent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4ykcfZi1mw (her part starts around :55 and is a fucking riot)
  12. I've been dealing with a rather nasty stomach bug that's making the rounds here, and about the only thing I can keep down is Jello. Given my obsession with this show, every time I had a bowl in front of me, my fevered brain kept flashing back to Helena scarfing down that bowl of Jello like it was the finest of crème brulée. I may never look at Jello the same way ever again.
  13. I'm betting that once Princess Nympho gets a gander at Ragnar and his BFFs, her hormones will go into serious hyperdrive. I'd pay good bucks to have her break into this: http://youtu.be/z6eTTaY1a6M?t=51s (sorry about the link - since it's starting midway through the clip, it can't be auto-embedded)
  14. As much as I was hoping that fuckwit, Gentle Jay, was going to be sent packing, it wasn't much of a surprise that they didn't eliminate anyone for two reasons: 1. With 2 people quitting (that insult to females aka Ashley; and Kyle, who may or may not have left on his own volition), plus the two double-eliminations, this left the production crew with too few competitors for the remaining weeks of the scheduled broadcast dates, and 2. To ratchet up the tension and drama (not that this show needs any more of that bullshit). In typical Ink Master fashion, the promo weasels once again made it seem like all hell was going to break loose with some major shit hitting the fan WRT "TraceGate," only to have it turn out to be about as explosive as a moth's fart.
  15. Didn't she end that quote with "sitting out on the front porch eating dirt" or something like that? That was by far one of the funniest scenes of the entire run of the series.
  16. Is that the one where she and Dan start doing the White Trash Hoe-Down dance? That always cracked me up to no end.
  17. Count me in as one of those who was hoping that when Sarah shot Helena that was the last we were going to see of her. I realize that she's one of the fan faves here, but with the number of known clones, plus god knows how many more will show up in Season Two, having Helena back to cause more trouble isn't something that I'm particularly looking forward to. Awesome recap of the premiere!! Love it!!
  18. Still in the process of digesting the season premiere, but must add that any scene in which Doral (™ Evil Cylon) either gets outplayed or his ass kicked is a-okay in my book.
  19. Hoh-Leeeeee-Fuckballs, Batman!! If their intent was to not only keep the tension from Season One going but to ratchet it up a notch or ten, they damn well succeeded. I'm going to have to re-watch it again at Midnight (and probably 3:00am, lol) before I can coherently put my thoughts into words, but for now, just....damn. ***** For now, though, Shakira's alive!! Quite honestly, I thought she was deader than a door nail, but so much for that theory. Loved how she pinned it on "her sister" (mind is too blown to look the phrase up in Ukrainian atm) before collapsing. I'm hating ProClone Rachel at this point. Almost hating Paul as well, though he did let her get away after the private meeting in the conference room. More to come later after I've digested all this and had some time to analyze the episode.
  20. BBC America will be broadcasting the first episode of Season Two on Saturday 19/4/14 at 9:00pm EDT, and then again on Sunday 20/4/14 at 12:00am (midnight) EDT and 3:00am EDT. Local channels, depending on where you live, may be different, depending on your cable or satellite service. They will also air it again on Sunday 20/4/14 at 11:00pm EDT. Just wanted to post these additional air times in case anyone here is unable to catch it during the original premiere time.
  21. Just saw that the show listing in the forums was changed from "Inkmaster" to "Ink Master." Thanks for taking care of that so quickly!!
  22. I was going to mention this as well. I know it's a minor nitpick, but in the "Shows" section, it's listed correctly as two words....will one of the fabulous Mods/Admins please change this in the Forums list of shows?
  23. Gentle Jay is working my last nerve -- I am so sick his attitude that his shit don't stink when his work has been mediocre at best. Re: Kyle vs. Nunez -- quite frankly, I was rather sick of both of them. Kyle has been definitely more unglued than he ever was last season, and his constant "The judges this - The judges that" got old by the 3rd episode. I've no doubt that Kyle would have knocked the living shit out of Chris had they actually come to fisticuffs; Nunes was almost asking for it with his excessive needling of Kyle, topped off with that petty bullshit of having one of the inktestants deliver his message that Kyle should have been at the elimination. I mean, seriously, WTF? This isn't the 6th grade, dude. Glad to see some fire from the top four (Halo, Scott, Mattie, and Snausage). Loved that Scott and Halo's "master plan" to get Snausage booted backfired on them -- their reaction when they found out that he talked his client (I refuse to call a person a "canvas") into putting the tat on his chest rather than that wrinkled, saggy stomach was fucking priceless. That being said, I wish Snausage would cease with the whiny "I've been nothing but nice to you!" bullshit. As much as I think Scott can be an ass at times, he (and Halo and Mattie, for that matter) have known from the get-go that being "nice" isn't going to win someone the hundred grand. They were right - it wasn't personal, and Snausage needs to suck it up, be focused on doing the best work possible, and leave the petty crap behind. As for the preview for next week and GJ's accusation that someone is tracing, I suspect that it may be Scott. His demon tattoo from this week is identical to this picture of Barbara Steele from the 1960 horror movie "Black Sunday": How this slipped past Rob Zombie is beyond me. I'm not even much into the horror genre and I picked up on this immediately.
  24. I cared!! (and still care) Should the traffic in this forum pick up, any chance you'll start back with the recaps? If there's anything I can do to help or contribute, definitely let me know!
  25. It's not shown much these days, but the commercial for Aciphex (for acid reflux disease) always sounds like they're saying "Ass effects." Of which I don't want to know about anyone. Even me.
