  1. I suspect it is unlikely as there are a suprising amount of younger viewers for Lucifer - probably because he can be so funny - Though from bits and pieces of spoilers showing up (which I've actually been trying to avoid, but it's hard when people plaster them everywhere) it looks like we will be getting a bit more naked flesh on netflix than on Fox. It'll be interesting to see how far they push the stories now. I'm hoping for a genuine improvement over S3.
  2. For all we know, that might actually have happened. We can only hope that we at least revert to the quality we got in S1 & S2 if nothing else. It's just a case of wait and see and hope for the best. If they don't do a good job with this season and get the happy viewers they need for S4 there won't be S5. I think it's as simple as that. There's a lot riding on their ability to pull the series back from the brink of death with S4.
  3. I think a lot of us would agree with this sentiment. It was apparently an unauthorised leak and Joe Henderson was upset over the fan response on twitter for something nobody had even seen yet. It wouldn't be the first time deliberate misdirections have been supplied on episode plot contents to keep the details a surprise for viewers. I guess its just a case of wait and see. I am reasonably optimistic that with the short season nexflix is giving us that we won't see the bloated and strung out stories of season 3 and should have a better overall season 4.
  4. Maybe nobody is pregnant. Didn't they just say "baby" and everyone jumped to the conclusion that either Chloe or Linda are pregnant? Maybe the "baby" belongs to someone else? An antichrist episode or something to with the priest or perhaps its a reference to Chloe's conception which we know was a miracle. Could be anything really.
  5. Here's a nice recent interview with Tom Ellis on the show cancellation and revival https://www.tvinsider.com/703902/lucifer-season-4-netflix-tom-ellis-comic-con/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  6. A new article with some more info on what has been picked up for netflix. It looks like this isn't a final season after all... https://tvline.com/2018/06/18/lucifer-season-4-renewed-netflix-episode-count-start-date-comic-con/
  7. Much as I guessed the big delay with getting Lucifer a new home was because of the complicated issue of streaming rights which were all over the place around the world. https://deadline.com/2018/06/lucifer-saved-netflix-picks-up-series-season-4-after-fox-cancelation-1202411666/ I saw some demographics from twitter the fandom is literately world-wide even though only USA neilson was keeping it on the air at fox. There are a lot of fans in South America, Europe (especially Germany and the UK), Australia and New Zealand. I highly suspect this is what we are going to see. The show runners were in a bad place trying to adhere to all the restrictions fox put on them. They wanted a darker Lucifer and more supernatural and mythology and were told NO. It will have a short season - 10 episodes - but I think they will be better crafted with little to no filler and better quality CGI and longer running. Network length is normally 41 or 42 minutes for adverts and streaming runs closer to an hour in the 50minute mark. It should make a real difference.
  8. I went to the Melbourne convention panels where Lauren and Lesley-Ann talked about their time on Lucifer. The halls where the talks were given were big and mostly full on both days. There was a lot they filmed that fox forced them to drop out. Mostly darker scenes of the type that fans have been wanting for ages. They also filmed at Trixie-Maze apology scene but didn't have time to fit it in (42 minutes per episode) at the end of the season. Netflix should allow longer episodes with the show runners being able to add in the darker and mythology type stories they have been wanting to tell since season 1. Fox added extra episodes in seasons 2 and 3. It might seem generous and a good idea but it upset badly the story-telling balance of both seasons and their insistence on procedural stories stopped a lot of exploration in new directions. I'm confident that on netflix we will have less episodes but a better overall season.
  9. Cast reactions to getting season 4 on netflix. News spread pretty quickly. Twitter has gone nuts. https://deadline.com/2018/06/lucifer-tom-ellis-aimee-garcia-lesley-brandt-react-show-resurrection-netflix-1202411697/ Now I've got no excuses, and will have to sign up to netflix. Hopefully the show will now be free of the restrictions fox imposed on it and will be free to explore the more supernatural aspects of the story and not be chained into a procedural story every episode. We might finally get the series for at least 1 season that the show runners wanted to make from the start. If we only get one short season (10 epiosdes) I hope they make it kick-ass and every episode count.
  10. An interesting, and very lengthy article giving an overview of each episode of Lucifer by Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson. Their talk of network interference and the things they wanted cut out or not included and the insistence on light police procedural is very interesting and explains a lot. http://comicbook.com/dc/2018/06/04/lucifer-showrunners-talk-about-every-episode/#1
  11. And that has always been the problem for international fans of USA made shows. We count for nothing on the networks over there where only Neilson ratings count. The new streaming services on the other hand have hard information on who is watching every show in a way you can never see with Neilson boxes and the streaming isn't so dependent on advertising. Its because traditional TV gets all its revenue from advertising and it boxes them into a corner with the ratings. The real problem I have is that if a show dips below a certain ratings level they don't give the how runners enough notice to change direction and properly wind up a series. All these unresolved genre TV series are a real turn off for people, especially in their second life on streaming services or on DVD release. I'm sure it makes a lot of people reluctant to start new series they see coming up on TV.
  12. Sociopaths and other physical mental problems really short circuit this whole logic of people essentially making their own decisions about Heaven/Hell. I don't think you'll ever get a full rule book for it out of any TV series, though Lucifer has been more consistent in sticking to what rules it creates than a lot of other fantasy series I've seen. (Grimm I'm looking at you) - All of these series require a large dose of not asking too many questions if you want to enjoy them when you watch them. In real life most of these cases would be sunk by forensics or the cops done for corruption before you got too far.
  13. I don't think Dan or Ella were really in the know. They still seemed to be like Chloe thinking that Lucifer was some British eccentric talking in metaphors. Chloe had to be hit with a 2x4 to acknowledge that strange things really were afoot and she'd been ignoring them the whole time. I can see that the show had planned the last two episodes first and tried to shoehorn the rest of the story to meet the requirements of the last two episodes. It was clumsily done however and I wonder if the season length had something to do with it and they just couldn't handle it. My worry is if they somehow do get a season 4 that their budget will be cut drastically and it will have noticeable and even worse impact on what we get to watch (but this is all speculation and wishful thinking).
  14. And this is exactly why online piracy flourishes even now. I know where I live it can be up to 12 months later that shows turn up, in the meantime spoilers are all over the internet and fandoms have moved onto discussing the next episode leaving those who don't have access to it left behind. The internet has been a game changer for how people find out exactly what they are missing out on and either get angry or do something about it, whether it is legal or not. Advertising is the main revenue stream for free to air TV and much of cable (I admit I hate paying for cable only to get adverts it seems like double dipping) but people with premium cable like HBO and who watch DVDs have got used to watching with out advertisements and many, like me I'm afraid, do their best to avoid them. Its jarring to go back to free to air these days and I'd rather not watch any TV at all than put up with the ads for too long. TV has hit a log jam between what viewers really want and the way their business model is set up.
  15. I saw some screenshots from sites which follow twitter and I was suprised at where they were coming from. There are a huge amount of fans for Lucifer in Brazil, Germany, Canada, with smaller groups of fans in Russia and Australia and in some parts of Africa. Its watched all over the world, but only the USA viewers are counted for ratings purposes. It was actually pretty educational to see the fan distribution from twitter.
  16. That's what I want more than anything. If I spend hours and hours watching a series I want an episode to properly end it. The lack of wrap up episodes is the real crime in modern television and the producers of series rarely get a heads up that they should wrap up a story for viewers. I much prefer going into an older TV series knowing it will have a proper end. I've ditched series in the past that I've heard are cancelled on a cliff-hanger as it barely seems worth the effort of watching them just to be frustrated. Ugh. That's depressing. We had a good run of genre shows over the last 5 or so years.
  17. I honestly can't understand why they were given such a long season 3 when it was obvious that the two shorter seasons in 1 & 2 had worked well for them. It just created wasted episodes which diluted the story they were trying to tell. I think that would go down like a lead balloon. Chole seems to divide viewers. Personally she doesn't do anything for me, but the whole deckerstar fandom focus on her and Lucifer with starry eyes waiting for them to get married or go to heaven or something.....(I've no idea what), but the show would loose a lot of viewers (if it was still on) if she was gone.
  18. I think that's a mystery to most people. I had thought the "special" might have had some development this year but it had nothing to do with Caine's mark removal in the end. It just makes Lucifer weak and maybe stupid and fatally attracted. Its terribly vague. I have to say that Lauren German is the weakest of the cast members as far a characterisation is concerned. She really doesn't seem to hold a candle to Tom Ellis. The only other actor that really has had his screen energy is Tricia Helfer though I know she rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Having said that I did enjoy this season despite the noticeably bad episodes in the second half of the season. I found it interesting that the ones that Tom Ellis pointed out as being good were usually the pick of the crop. He seems to know a good script when he reads one and will do his best with the poor ones.
  19. They do seem to be paying more attention to social media - which can have a noticeable impact on ratings via word of mouth. (eg Stranger Things and True Detective), but old style networks like Fox only stick to the Neilson boxes and will continue to fade away. They won't go backwards on their cancellation of Lucifer no matter how much of a storm is raised in social media, and I get the impression nobody expects that to happen. However, I have to say as a season finale series 3 had a truly excellent last two episodes, though it was a very rocky and uneven path to get there. This series seems to work much better with a shorter season, and I've grown to prefer more tightly written shorter seasons in TV shows.
  20. Despite probably being a million years old its obvious Lucifer doesn't know as much as he thinks he does and he's only learning a few crucial truths about himself and the world now. Also, he has been in exile from his own kind for an awful long time. I get the impression his "holidays" to earth over the centuries were only of reasonably short duration before the start of the series. We also haven't seen yet why he is called "light bringer". I guess the sword was only part of that. Perhaps this will play into the final story wrap up if they manage to get a season 4. The fans are very active in both twitter and facebook at the moment.
  21. I think B99 has given people false hope, but I read B99 as being in a very different position to Lucifer which is going to have a hard time finding a new home. I know other shows like unforgettable were able to find another network for their last season but had drastic cast changes and cut budgets and Lucifer might well find itself in the same situation. Fans want the same cast and Lucifer barely has the budget for any cgi at the moment by the look of it - and I wonder if this is the true reason behind no devil face and barely any wings this year? It can't hurt to throw a few tweets at the renewal campaign but its a long shot and if it does come back anywhere aside from the CW I hope the producers have the sense to treat it like a final season.
  22. Spot on. They took the shippy elements of S2 and ramped it up too high in S3 till it became cringy and hard to watch. Great for those who "ship" characters and want to watch a romance, but for everyone else who watched it for the drama or the supernatural elements or anything else really it overtook the show. They stretched out a story that would have done well concentrated in a half season into a full season with lots of fillers that only served to make Lucifer look silly and drain his darkness and intelligence. Simple things like Chloe following up the Sinnerman background in the aftermath of Pierce shooting him were never followed through. That could have lead them to Pierce as the mastermind much sooner. The whole love declaration in S3E23 could really have been done any time an didn't need the whole love triangle to preceded it. If the fans do manage to convince someone to make a S4 then I really hope they dial back the romance and do a short more balanced season that won't make the fans regret all the tweeting and facebook work I can see them doing at the moment. Too much romance is not good for the Lord of Hell. Despite this seasons problems I would like a S4 if only to see if they can correct the issues in S3. Shows have been known to come back from a weak season its just a pity the makers of Lucifer simply seemed to assume they could expect one on the back of declining ratings.
  23. Check out Lucifer in the media. There's a long thread there. There's also a very active fan campaign on twitter #savelucifer. Brooklyn 99 was also cancelled by Fox in their scripted bloodbath this year, but managed to get picked up by ABC for season 6 after a fan meltdown over the net. It looks like people are trying to do the same thing for Lucifer. You never know they might be able to move stations it wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened.
  24. This is unexpected. Brooklyn 99 managed to find a new home on NBC #savelucifer seems to be going gangbusters on twitter. Its hard to tell if it will persuade another network to look at the show for a last season if nothing else. From what I've seen if you move to another network you should really only count on one season more, but I'm not going to hold out my hopes for this to happen with Lucifer.
