  1. I've been watching the Christmas Cookie Challenge that some of y'all were talking about in the episode thread. I was really skeptical at first, but I put it on in the background, and I think this is actually my new favorite baking show. I was watching some of the reruns this weekend, and it seems like the perfect medium to be able to have beautifully decorated bakes in the short amounts of time they're given. They have some really talented bakers/decorators as well.

I don't know if there needs to be a whole thread devoted to the show, but I thought I'd see if anyone else wants to chat about it. I really like the host, and I know a lot of people don't like Ree, but she doesn't bother me. But mostly I love seeing the process of the decorating and the mostly lovely results.

  2. I am fascinated by human beings and their behavior, which is why most of my DVR is full of reality ("reality") TV, but I just love a good whodunnit as well, so I think that's a big part of my love for true crime.

  3. If Trevor's clients haven't watched the TV show American Greed, they need to. Usually the guy living the crazy, opulent lifestyle isn't doing it off his own profits; he's doing it off the investors' money. I'd keep a close eye on that one if I had my money with him.

And I thought Jeff was putting pepper on his salad. That was a neat little contraption.

  4. I hate Chloe for making me side with Jessica. Chloe is one freakin' spoiled, immature kid. And a lot of that is probably Jessica's fault, but, damn, that brat has no idea (and no appreciation for) what her parents are doing for her and her child. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, though, they're in a Catch 22. They've got a granddaughter to think about now, and as dim as Chloe is, she knows enough to use Ava against them.

So many things to wonder about in this case, but it's clear Dee Dee was a master of manipulation and knew just how to pull the strings.

After the HBO documentary, I felt only pity and sorrow for Gypsy, and I still do, but mixed now with a feeling she really was the driving force and brains behind her mother's death.  What pushed me over to that was when she said that Nick "ordered" her to do various things during and after the attack.  He just did not have the force of personality for that to be credible to me.  If anyone was issuing orders, it's pretty clear it was Gypsy and she's trying to mitigate her responsibility for what he did.

It doesn't change the horror of what her demented monster of a mother put her through, but it does make her more culpable than I thought after Mommy Dead and Dearest, and she's obviously more intelligent and capable of planning than she ever showed before prison.  I'm glad she's getting care and socialization in prison (who would ever think of that being possible??), and I hope she can have a somewhat normal life after she is released, but I think she will need massive and consistent care and guidance for that to happen.  On her own, I think she would just connect with grifters like her mother and continue down that path.

That's what pinged my hinky meter, too, Calamity Jane. That and the act she put on when she was first talking to the detective in the interrogation room, not knowing he knew the full story. She definitely deserves sympathy and consideration for the ordeal she went through, but many people have had horrible childhoods and not resorted to murder.

Jenny is a piece of shit .... she’s acting like she runs everything and she’s the boss . All the indoor idiots (Jenny.. tyler... Megan aka horse teeth and gage) just sit around and judge everyone else like they do all the work .... all I ever see them do is kiss Jeff’s ass and eat lunch ... worthless group of people .... I truly believe Jeff keeps worthless people around just so he can bitch and complain

I was pleased when Frankie basically told her to shut her pie hole and let him talk to his boss.

I think they are currently together. I don't believe it was a ploy on Caelan's part. I believe he really felt broken up with. But your analysis of McKayla's reasoning is spot-on. She kept complaining that Caelan wasn't helping. She even had the nerve to say he's not a "good father figure". The dude is working!!! I think we have another Leah from TM2 on our hands. She wants her dude to support them all, but also wants him around 24-7. She's an idiot. And lazy as fuck.

Yes, sorry, totally agree. Didn't mean to imply it was both of them. I think this is all on Mckayla as well. I don't know what the reality is of Caelan's involvement, but he seems like he's really doing the best he can and all he gets for it is shit from Mckayla and her family.

In other news, Lexus looked awesome in the preview for the reunion special.

  8. I don't follow these couples in real time, so I don't know if Mckayla and Caelan's breakup was really for good this time, but I just feel like it's really because Mckayla has realized that she hates having her own apartment because it means having to take care of her kid full time. And now she's knocked up again. It would not surprise me if this was all a ploy to be able to move back home to get the free child care and that they are back together again.

And putting the "Big Brother" t-shirt on Timmy to break the news to Tim? Ridiculous. And it seems like Grandma cosigned all this nonsense because she obviously already knew Mckayla was pregnant. Mckayla sure knows how to work those two. Cry some tears, and Grandpa will do whatever it takes to make it all better and protect Mckayla from the consequences of her actions, even if it puts him in his grave.

  9. Malena has been desperately trying to keep the crazy under wraps all season, and it just burst forth like a tsunami. How do you come back after that?

I'm bummed the season is over. I just love everything about this show and these women. I never even watch football, but something about TC and DCC fascinates me. I don't even know anybody else who watches this show, but it's got to be one of the most posted about shows on this forum. Nice to know I'm not alone.

It's pretty much a catchall for true crime on any channel.  There have been recent discussions here about the Jessica Chambers doc on Oxygen, Inside the Manson Cult on Fox, The Last Defense on ABC and plenty of others.  Feel free.

If I implied it was just for ID shows, that wasn't my intention. Fable just mentioned two shows that are on ID, so that's what I was addressing.

Is there anyway to incorporate such shows as A Crime to Remember and People Magazine Investigates as well as any other true crime shows (yes, even Kenda) into this thread?  It seems like such a waste of time and bandwidth to keep jumping around from forum to forum.

I think this thread is pretty much a catchall for ID shows since a lot of the posters here started out posting on the forum about the ID channel, and then TPTB decided to complicate things and make that forum only for discussion about the channel itself and not the shows. I don't know, but I'm thinking maybe those other forums that get started for ID shows are started by people who don't know about this forum or just want to talk about that one show. I think it's perfectly fine to talk about ACTR or People here, but when people mention there's an actual separate forum for it, I think they're just letting you know there's more discussion elsewhere, not that you can't talk about it here.

  12. I don't think Quinton is the sweet boy his mama thinks he is, but there's just not enough evidence to convict him. Thank God rational people still understand the value of innocent until proven guilty.

The only thing that made me think he was guilty in the first trial was the cell phone data. But then that other expert who didn't testify explained why it wasn't valid. I was hoping to hear about that in the retrial, but I don't think it was touched on at all last night.

Awe, that’s not fair.  There are always several adults watching the babies.  I think they are awesome parents.

I ask sincerely, why do you even watch?  You dislike them so much.  I just don’t understand wasting my time on people I dislike and look down on.  I’m not being snarky, just asking.

I am really enjoying this family and the show, especially since the Busbys' show is so staged now, but I do understand the fun of hate watching something, especially when the majority of people are hate watching. But there are many times on Previously TV when I have wished there could be separate threads for people who are love watching a show and people who are hate watching a show.

  14. I watched the first hour, but I've seen the Netflix doc, and Dateline didn't seem to be covering anything new. I haven't erased it yet, so let me know if it's worth watching the second hour.

Agreed. Every episode has been so emotional, and last night's was no exception. The poor father broke my heart, and then everything with Ken, and his daughter, was just...man. I felt so bad for that guy, being under that cloud of suspicion for so long. (and the boss being all, "You didn't call in to work" thing...uh, 'scuse me?). We all know that obviously the police will look at the husband at some point, of course, and if you don't have any other viable suspects right away, that can make clearing the name(s) of the suspect(s) you do have a little harder, too. But I still wish something could've happened that could've allowed him to be proven innocent a lot sooner.

This is exactly why I couldn't even finish the episode. I really, really, really don't like to watch interviews with people who are still so torn up by a loved one's murder. I'd rather just have the cops and DA's and reporters, etc, give the facts. It's just too heart-wrenching.

Jessica plopped herself on that bed and it's clear she wasn't moving until they had to pull the stirrups out. If Max had sat on the other side, I bet her and the husband would have made fun of him for sitting right in the nurse's way. There's no way for Max to win no matter what he does.

Totally agree with this. If Max had tried to be a part of comforting Chloe, he would have caught hell for trying to take over or not doing it the way Jessica wanted.

Re Mckayla, why has no one told her, "Girl, you can get married whenever you want. There's the courthouse."

  17. It's amazing how much better VK looks when you can't see her mouth.

That link to her Instagram sent me down a rabbit hole. I saw a bunch of her DDC prep classes. Boy, she looked so much thinner and younger and had a fresh-faced prettiness. Not sure what went wrong.

Your opinion is, to me, correct.  Being a parent, with the best of circumstances, is HARD.  Per the tablet/phone addiction:  I have a friend whose son (age 11 or 12) who refused to go out onm MOTHER'S DAY so he could stay home and game on the Xbox.  Yep.

If that was my kid, he wouldn't haven an Xbox anymore.

  19. Can somebody explain to me New Hollywood, Old Hollywood and Valley Vista? I assume their office is in New Hollywood?  Will New and Old be flipped when the one they're going to live in (Valley Vista?) is finished? Is Valley Vista close to the Hollywood homes? TIA!

  20. Jeff and Gage are at it again. Not only are they competing over who does what around the house, but whose flip is moving along fastest. Meanwhile, new troubles pop up at Valley Vista and Old Hollywood. Not to mention, team JLD has been rehired by Calabasas clients Liat and Trevor. Will the competition between Jeff and Gage break them or make them work harder?

(I hope it's okay to start this thread. The show aired a couple days ago.)

  21. I agree @trackrat59. I fast-forwarded through much of the Hawaiian episode. I really do not care about deep conversation between Adam and Danielle, Adam and his Dad, Adam and Dale, Danielle and her sisters, blah, blah, blah. The quints are at such a cute age. I love to hear the things they say. Show us more of that, TLC, because they will be past that stage very soon.

Laura and Anna's parents, especially the mother, are totally weird.

That whole sex talk was beyond weird. No doubt it was staged, but as a parent, I would not be doing that in front of cameras with my 15-year-old. Plus Laura spreading Ana's personal business so publicly, idk, it's just all very unseemly when it's someone so young. So now Ana goes to school this week, and everyone knows her boyfriend came on her sweatshirt, jeez.

The only other thing that stood out for me was the toilet cleaning scene - lol. Who the hell cleans a toilet with a sponge and no gloves? I'm going to be having nightmares about that for weeks.
